Apparently he’s a bit of a bellend? But I can’t remember him though. Just on the off chance you do appoint Neil, you will be getting a very good manager mind. Knows how to set his teams up for a win. I still can’t see it happening as he’s rarely complained in the public eye and has been backed this summer (we’ve been one of the biggest spenders in the division). My Sunnerland supporting mate reckons we’ve got absolutely no chance of snatching Neil…..he is bonkers mind, and sent me an essay of why not and the massive plans re their plans and structure etc etc..if the Coates dong is swung though,Neil may not be able to resist. I wouldn’t say ‘no chance’ but I would say it’s unlikely. Given he isn’t really first choice for a lot of Stoke fans on here it’ll probably be best it’s not him!

He'll be too busy eating worms while waiting for a prem job I can honestly see it being Mowbray in the end. I can't see him being worse than MON at all, but I also see a lot of fans giving up completely if we appoint him. God it's fun being a Stoke fan, be thankful you aren't one currently, you've got a good thing going on with Neil there.
I'm far from being knowledgeable on such things but isn't Mowbray by inclination one of the exponents of the tippy tappy, lets go nowhere type of football? Thinking of his time at West Brom. So we might still get stuck with twenty passes and back to the goalkeeper( however good or bad they might be!). Is that the tippy tappy let’s go nowhere nonsense he played at WBA that resulted in promotion with a record points total and goals scored? No idea whether those records still stand but remember them clearly from the time.

It's not so long ago that Sunderland was our preferred choice of Club to go to in the transfer market, with a string of their players moving to Stoke. Now it seems we might be ready to repeat the trick with the Manager.

I can't see us having room in the budget to pay off MON and pay comp for a new manager plus the possibility of him wanting his own team behind him.

That is 2008 though. I’m sure he also went 5 at the back at Blackburn after, funnily enough, playing 433 initially.

He might satisfy those who crave promotion over all else as he’s done it before but let’s not forget he’s failed to do it far more often than he’s succeeded at it. I don’t think he’s going to be anyone who’s primarily concerned with enjoyment of watching the games first choice.

Well if that's the case maybe we should potentially be embracing the guy as a positive upward moving appointment to take us forward! I don't mind who we get as long as their philosophy and managerial style is constructive and they address many of our problems.

My primary concern is enjoying going to games which would be greatly aided by us scoring a lot more goals. I think by nature that gives you the best chance of success in the league but that is not my primary concern. Even getting promoted by continuing to play dull football will not be satisfactory to me.

Great to get the views of supporters from other teams on here. Captainfishpaste hasn't been on here for a while? Apparently he’s a bit of a bellend? But I can’t remember him though. I know it was a while ago now fella but what would your thoughts be on Roy Keane been given another chance in management?

Id actually think Keane could be a very good manager and location works and he’d put us on the map for sure and give the energy we so desperately need .

I know it was a while ago now fella but what would your thoughts be on Roy Keane been given another chance in management? I love Roy Keane. Was desperately hoping he’d get the job instead of Neil when Lee Johnson was sacked. The more I think about it though, the more I think it’s a lucky escape not getting him back. Roy has issues with man management but rarely fell out with the players here, although he took us from bottom of the championship to mid table prem in 18 months so that’s probably why. At Ipswich, he was apparently a disaster and fell out with a lot of players. I think his problem was that he was so used to playing with world class players he thought that all players should be able to do the things Beckham, Scholes & Cantona were doing. He’d get pissed off if players weren’t regularly pinging them in from 25 yards. He was set to join us but did a late U-turn (probably contract related) and stayed with Sky. He then said his management days are probably over but he’d be tempted with a good offer on the table. Regularly got the best out of his players here, very similar to Neil in that regard. However, I’d want someone who hasn’t been out of management for 10 years if I were you.

He seems to have mellowed as a person and listening to him speak he feels like he has unfinished business as a manager. With O’Shea already here (and Delap) it would probably fit from a practical point of view as well. It won’t happen but I honestly wouldn’t be adverse to it, I’d certainly prefer it to paying compo for someone else’s manager……

Sunderland, what that where Quiterall made his name? In Stoke at least.

Not a bad idea. The SkyQ urinal, piss money away for no real reason. The Cilitbang trophy cabinet, needs cleaning more than opening and the Kevin’s Wimmer wishing well toilet. It doesn’t work like it’s meant to but you can throw lots of coins into it without any real hope of any return at all.

Reading hold the record, 106pts in 2006. WBA aren’t even in the top 10 for Champo points totals.
