Piss on my bonfire why don't you! To be honest, I fancy him to get a record close to what you posted when he gets started here. Knowing what little I do about him, I think the players we can get around and about him will really benefit him. It might take a short time to knock a bit of rust off him, but once well oiled I fancy a bit of a goalscorer at long last!

It seems that in your quest for goals you've left out our current topscorer, Brown. Whether you rate him is up to you, but you can't deny that there's goals in him. It's easy to be optimistic and overjoyed when a new striker comes in and looks hot, Sima and Surridge were both expected to go goal mad, but look what happened. To suggest Maja will score every other game is maybe a little big ask for someone who has only ever scored one goal in pro football. Granted, he hasn't played much, but I wouldn't big him up just yet. Maja has 31 goals in 61 games doesn't he? It seems we're both wrong: He's scored 28 in 101 games, if wiki is reliable. That's just above 1 in every 4.

We got rid of probably the only defender who can defend, limited footballer I know, replaced him with a 40-year-old, got rid of the only keeper that has shown any consistency over the last few years, we have a manager who was probably forced to play Ince solely to put him in the shop window, the fact he was playing well and chipping in with a few goals was irrelevant, it was just an exercise to showcase. This is not a club with any ambition of promotion this season, just hell-bent on thinning the squad and getting the wage bill down while trying to stay up - that said still a bizarre window even by our standards. MON will be getting a big bonus if he gets us to 50pts while the club is in a huge transition. The talk of play-offs is a bit laughable, but we do have a large percentage of very optimistic fans - the same that will be predicting a top 2 finish next season - even if we lose more quality players pre-season and replace them with a bunch of 50-year-olds 6 wins, 6 draws, 6 defeats will probably get us a top-half finish and not beyond the realms, but can't see it myself. If it does happen though MON will have done well, considering the injuries, the major thinning of the squad and little money to bring any quality in What you say is probably true, but the thing is, outside Fulham, Blackburn, and maybe B'mouth, none of the teams above us or below us are very much better than we are. They have their good momenst and also plenty of despairing moments. That's why talk of the play-offs isn't unrealstic. Not a given, but also not a given that we can't make it. Then you might say going to Wembley is premature for such an essentially struggling team, but play-offs are a moneyspinner (as is going up) and it's a great little taste of a better life for our fairly inexperienced team.

As my stock broker is constantly telling me ..... Past performance is not a guarantee that it will continue into the future. If everyone were to adopt your philosophy (we've done nothing therefore we won't do anything) then Leicester would have been relegated and would not have won the Prem the next season. 2 points a game is good form, but not impossible! Oh I agree, otherwise the good teams would always be good and the poor teams always poor. But to make the playoffs, we haven’t just got to be good, we’ve got to be consistently excellent (top 2 form). We’ve been erratic for several years, I don’t see any reason why that’s going to change to us suddenly being excellent over the next 18 games. I’m an optimist by the way! Understand where you’re coming from, but…… there are millions of us wh are ugly. ( Oops, senility creeping in, lyrics of a children’s song). I meant to say, there are many examples of turnaround form that can be attributed to a specific starting point rather than a gradual improvement. May this weekend be our starting point!

Still don't think we stand a serious chance from here but fuck it, just go for it like we did today and it'll be a memorable season.

Before tonight we was six points / 2 games behind brom, that gives you hope, knowing how we’ve expected to play you’d say no, but with these new signings the hope is up, like enjoying an fa cup game spread out over several, just at least we show promise do it or not

Baker, Allen and Powell simply has to be the midfield 3 for the rest of the season. If it is, we'll win more than we'll lose and go close.

If we can put a run together we have a chance. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t with the players we’ve got now and the options up front. It will be tough but there is hope.

There's usually a team or two who go on a run towards the end of the season and squeeze in.
Given the quality in the squad, there's no reason that can't be us.

I think Saturday will tell us a lot about where we are at against a much better forest team away from home Bridge too far for us after a good start that Autumn stalling has left us out of the tent pissing in. Forest seem to be the ones making a run, Blackburn prospered when we were failing. even Luton have a better record which is the most noticeable statistic for me

First home win since mid November and all of a sudden we'll make the play-offs, can't fault the eternal optimism with some but sadly reality isn't abound. Gouranga.

First home win November and still only 3 points off 6th place just goes to show how even the league is overall. What we need to do now is something we haven’t done in years: go on a run of wins. That is reason for pessimism. You won’t get into the playoffs without at least one good stretch of wins. Given how close we are to it now, if we can finally continue to concentrate for 90 mins and take our chances, we could squeak in.

We need to win 10 out of 17. Personally, I think that’s too much and we’ve chucked away too many points already, but let’s see. At the very least, I’m hoping to see a few open and entertaining games with the forward talent we now have.

Lots of teams close together. If we could go into the last day still in the mix, whether its in or hands or not, it will have been an amazing effort. All those games we should have got more from hurt though.

If we are going to be challenging for play offs the 8 league games after the Forest match will be key, not the Forest game.
