I also think Stoke will have a good finish looking at the remaining fixtures but not good enough to make the play offs. On balance I think MON deserves at least a start next season. Who could do better working within the constraints of ffp ?

Thought I'd try a different approach ... Of course, it's all ifs and buts, as is any discussion of the future. However ... If we win our game in hand over PNE and WBA, we are above them and simply have to match their results to stay above them. If we beat Luton and Coventry, we will be above Coventry and need to pick up only 1 point over Luton. If we beat Middlesborough we only have to catch up 2 points on them over 14 games. If we beat Sheffield, it's 3 points on them and the same on Forest. Several of these teams are playing each other and will drop points. Simple math shows we have to produce auto promotion form to get into the playoffs, but then again, just about every team that has ever been promoted has shown spells of auto-promotion form in order to get there. And even if we don't get there, we are in an excellent position to mount a credible challenge for next year. But hey ho, let's fire MON on a few people's say so! Lots of ifs there Boks. I get what you are saying but we simply don’t look like getting close to a run like that. Next season is going to be very difficult to call as the loans will probably go back and a lot of contracts for existing players finish. It will probably be a rebuilding job again

You can’t look forward to our “potential” form and dream of play offs. We still (mostly) have the same players that have created our Below average form in the previous 30 games. We are therefore, more likely to continue that form for the rest of the season. I would love to see us rip up the form book and make a late storm into the top 6 but it is very unlikely. Not because 6 points is a massive gap to overcome but because most of the teams we are playing have points to fight for and our record suggests we aren’t capable of that sustained 6 or 7 out of 9 points every 3 games. We haven’t done that for many years. Fail to win Tomorrow and the dream is dead anyway. Except we don't. We have added Jags, THB, Baker, JPB and Maja. DwP has come into the team. Powell and Sawyers will be back soon and Campbell finally looks something like himself. So no we look nothing like the team for the first 30 games. But my statement is true because we have less new players than old. DWP, Powell and Sawyers were ours at the start of the Season. Our form (which I was actually talking about) has not improved. So even with these new and returning players we STILL fail to beat Birmingham at home and Somehow look LESS likely to qualify for play offs. The only constant is….

Our 2 defeats against Derby show that we are more than capable of slipping up against even the most innocuous opposition, but apart from Bournemouth, who will be a challenge, I don't see it as mission impossible to beat any of the other teams we have to play. C'Mon Stoke, No Room For Mistakes!

Maybe if we get a new manager in now, get a new manager bounce, a couple of wins and we might have a sniff again.
If we have any ambition at all it's time to sack o'neill

14 games left it’s not over tills it’s over , so don’t tell me it’s over 😉 It’s over. One point against Luton and Brum at Home means there is no reason for optimism. The fat lady has been singing for a while now. We are also rans who will finish closer to the bottom than top.

4th season in the championship and we’ve been absolutely no where near the playoffs.
Nothing to play for.
Hopeless.
Just once it would be nice to have the double game week Easter weekend challenging for something, but again it will be pointless.

We’ll still have some people saying it’s possible when we have to win every remaining game to stand a chance. Which will pretty much be in 1 or 2 games time.

Who could do better working within the constraints of ffp ? With that squad (which to be fair he's built, but that's only part of the job at hand)?? He's coming up massively short with the (relative) riches he's got at his disposal. Look at the 13 teams above us and count how many have 'inferior squads'. Lots of them. We've been absolutely schooled tonight, by a team that are mainly made up of a successful League Two squad. Not just beaten - out-thought, out-fought, out-classed. That's on the manager, I'm afraid.
