Rubbish, I went to a rain soddened game at Hertha Berlins Olympiastadion a couple of years back and there was stuff around the entire ground. It was packed. It’s not a fad, people go to the ground early for this stuff no matter the weather. In any case, get some shelters up, crikey it really isn’t difficult It’s what they do ….we don’t The usual small-minded response that epitomises Stoke City and to be honest Stoke-On-Trent, which makes it a surprise and even more embarrassing that a poxy club from Burslem is actually getting with the times and we’re not.

Give over ffs Let’s see how the Vale park fanzone gets on when they are struggling and not on a roll with good weather I’ll leave you to it

It’s been a fad for years now and more and more clubs are doing it. Grumpy 50/60 year olds aren’t the intended market. You’ll be the first one to slaughter it If it wasn’t done properly of course I would but they’re not that difficult to do and everything that needs to be there has been suggested on this thread and twitter. I wouldn’t go, I have no interest but plenty of people do. And that’s what matters. Apathy is slowly sucking the life out of this club and we need to loads to change that.

I don’t think if it’s pissing down with rain or freezing cold many will be rushing down early with young kids to a fanzone before a match v a Luton Town or Reading etc etc leaving bars empty and the entertainment twiddling their thumbs…..they’ll need paying though It’ll be a fad that will soon lose its appeal given the reasons I’ve stated IMO of course Rubbish, I went to a rain soddened game at Hertha Berlins Olympiastadion a couple of years back and there was stuff around the entire ground. I'm hearing about these things that Vale are doing better than us off the pitch. Not disputing anything but it'd nice to see some examples. They're doing their bit for the environment by not having plastic soap dispensers anywhere on site

There is a huge opportunity for the club to create a fan friendly atmosphere outside the ground particularly for those who’ve travelled a distance or with kids. It’s a desolate place outside the ground. Get some food and drink stalls up, some interactive kids stuff, a dj or band. Make it into an enjoyable day out for people. It’s lazy and indicative of the last few years. We are behind in everything we do. 'We are behind in everything we do.' That's true. We'll probably start appointing German managers when the rest of the league have got Martians in the dugout 😎

And there’s always people standing in a fucking freezing concourse drinking shit beer for the hour running to kick off. Why wouldn’t they swap one cold place for another with a better product?
Why not get that better product in the concourse you ask - we should.
The concourses are too small and this would help with the overcrowding.
All club led so the club gets the money.
What’s not to like?

I'm a pub person matchdays always have been always will be. But I've no problem with Stoke having a fanzone for those that want it as long as its done right with locally sourced food and beer outlets what's the issue?? Those that travel in from far and arrive at the ground a hour or so before kick off and those who take kids it's ideal for. The sentinel concourse is ridiculously small and having it outside that stand would massively ease congestion especially if it were allowed to open at half time I would be straight out there for a beer and food if I wanted rather than the crap the club serve up in the concourse.

Sadly in the absence of softer heated seats there's nothing the club could do to improve my matchday experience other than play better more exciting football and score more goals.

These things are great on a lovely warm sunny day and many of you urging the club to have one of these I’ll dare bet the first sign of rain etc you won’t go anywhere near it One defeat sees many saying fuck it and that’s just the match itself let alone standing in the pissing down rain or in -10 temperatures upside with the wind howling through Mickelover's is in a marquee so rain wouldn't be a problem and it wouldn't be any colder than the concourse. I really don't see why it's so difficult. If the barman at Mickleover can organise a local craft beer festival and get a local pop up Punjabi kitchen to set up around the ground whilst also opening the bar most nights and hosting various events at the ground as a one man band I don't see why it's such a big deal for Stoke.

Couple of pints in spoons pre match and a curry after the game sounds similar but infinitely cheaper.

No idea how much beer is in Weatherspoons but it was £4 a pint which I would guess is about average the curries were about £6 and ranked alongside any curry I've eaten anywhere, cooked to genuine Punjabi recipes handed down to the chef from his grandfather/father using only spices, no curry powder. Of course it's good for him as a local business man to get the publicity of selling there. Apparently it's so well liked that the team demand his food as their post match refreshment now. Not only therefore is it helping the club but also local brewers and businesses

Name me another club that's frozen season ticket prices for 14 seasons, provides free away travel and gives free tickets to schools on a regular basis. Give me a shout when you're ready.

These are good things that nobody is disputing and show the goodwill of the owners, however this thread is about asking for some forward thinking in terms of what happens on a matchday, can you name any other clubs that dont offer some basic entertainment for fans pre and post match, or a club that only rolled out card payments two years ago, or a club that can’t get its speaker working and brings back a club legend at halftime when everyone’s in the concourse Give me a shout when you’re ready

Attachment DeletedI took a visit to AFC Fylde a few weeks back (sorry not a great pic) The home end concourse has Sky and BT Sport on numerous screens. There’s a DJ at the back of the picture, plenty of proper tables to loaf around, the back of the stand is glass and overall the facilities are excellent. The only criticism is that they haven’t finished the floor. The bar nested inside Fylde’s main stand is even better. Fylde are in the National League North.

Has anyone got the stats on how many home games we've won under O'Neill as a percentage?
It's no wonder the atmosphere is appalling

Also, build a decent ground.
Build a ground that shows you love the club and the people.
The ground we have was built with no care, a shit budget stadium, with a big fuck you to the fans

I do have a picture of Lenny The Lion though)QPR, Huddersfield, Wolves. A bit of an understatement to describe what Stoke do with regards season tickets and away travel as a "good thing". I'd suggest it's unique, no other club I'm aware of has made such a commitment to its fan base. Ask a West Ham fan whether they'd prefer to pay less for their season ticket and free away travel, or have a pre match bubble machine, I think I can guess which they'd go for. Most grounds are much of a muchness. I go home and away with Stoke, I can't think of a ground that I've come away from thinking "wow! what a fantastic match day experience that was", apart from when we win of course. Fulham is a good day out, not because of anything Fulham FC do, more to do with its location next to the Thames. Millwall is a shit hole, however if you call in to Borough Market, across from London Bridge Station, it's worth a visit. If the pa system or the absence of a dj is a game changer then maybe an afternoon at the match isn't for you. Given the current financial climate and demands on disposable income I'd prefer Stoke to concentrate on making the match affordable for everyone. If you can't afford a match ticket, or the cost of away travel, then the lack of some tacky, amateurish pre-match entertainment becomes academic.
