Since Christmas in addition to our 2 home games I've been up to see Stone Old Alleynians and Buxton, and had a better match day experience at both.

My matchday experience would be brilliant if it ended immediately after my little lad had finished watching the keepers warm up.

Other than play some exciting football the best thing we could do to improve the atmosphere in the ground would be to move the away fans. Create 6k home fans rail/seats by the tunnel and shove the away fans into the new corner.
I know people always go on about the family section but I've been to plenty of away ends in a corner near families e.g Brighton.
I reckon a few noisy Boothen enders would migrate to the South stand rail seats and give the other end some competition. The Boothen is just going to get older and quieter as time goes on and Coates will never add the rail seats to existing ST holders seats.

Some good ideas in this thread, hopefully we begin to see a response from the club in regards to improving things Response from club "we appreciate feedback and are taking everything into consideration"... In reality that don't do fuck all. The whole matchday experience is probably completely different for the wealthy.

In reality that don't do fuck all. The whole matchday experience is probably completely different for the wealthy. There is probably an element of truth in that. I like my pre match experience (it's the best bit of the day) but it isn't cheap and I'm in the fortunate position of being able to afford to do what we do. Edit - not that I'm wealthy by any stretch of the imagination.

In reality that don't do fuck all. The whole matchday experience is probably completely different for the wealthy. I’m not one to bash the club, I think some on here are only too quick to do so at every opportunity.. however on this occasion, I do think it’s poor to just say “we’re taking everything Into consideration”. Why not implement a few of the suggestions that don’t cost the earth, see how they go… survey the fans both before and after… “would <idea for a better matchday experience> be something that you’d like to see trialled” - then after a few games, survey again - “do you consider <idea for a better matchday experience> to have been successful? What would you change?” - then review and adapt as you go. If something doesn’t work, bin it off and then the fans can’t say they didn’t try.. if it does work and the survey results prove that, then happy days, fans get what they want and the club is doing what they can and being more engaged. I mean, I don’t run a football club but this seems like a fairly simple thing to do and would surely be a start?

Attending the bet365 is similar to a trip to the dentist. It's usually painful, it costs money, but you keep doing it.

I've said it before, the atmosphere has been diluted since the "singing section" started up in the corner of the south stand. The Boothen can't hear them, they can't hear the Boothen so you end up with two sets of fans singing different songs, or the same song out of synch. It's like Block 19 on mogodon. Get back up the Boothen and lets have some proper noise! This happened a few times yesterday. The Boothen actually started quite a decent oh when the reds. Then the South Stand started and were 2/3 seconds behind and totally killed it. Sitting in the South Stand, it seems like it is in Sync with the noise coming from the boothen. However due to the physics of sound waves there is a delay with receiving the sound in the south stand and then the delay in the boothen receiving the transmitted noise from the southstand. It's always been like that I think shutting the southstand for home fans would be a start to improving the atmosphere; unpopular opinion i know but until we get some fans back in the building we will always have a diluted atmosphere as the majority of fans are spread throughout the stadium.

Just a matter of interest where would you people screaming for a fanzine actually set it up. Derby's is set up in a small corner of the executive car park - just a gazebo over the bar with an area around it for fans to stand, drink and talk. Nothing really happens it's just a focal point and somewhere to meet. Coventry have a memorial garden outside their ground which we could do round the Stanley Matthews statue with benches and flowers, just for those who want a quiet area to think of loved ones who no longer can go to matches. (It would also stop people getting off and on the coaches using those bushes to urinate as well). I also think that having things happening inside the ground on the big screens or the pitch might help move people on from the concourses which are so overcrowded that it is difficult for people with mobility issues to get from the turnstile to the gangways. Is there some regulation which says you can't show Sky on the big screens? We must pay for the licence to broadcast it because it's on in the concourse. Failing that what about setting up our own TV channel even if it's only shown at the ground showing interviews with players, supporters, explayers etc players arriving at the ground, even a glimpse into the changing rooms, recordings of the players training, competitions or quizzes. It seems to me the big screens as a form of entertainment is criminally underused before the match. As I said earlier in the thread when I arrived for the Derby game 45 minutes early absolutely nothing was happening on pitch side apart from watching the sprinklers.

100% agree with all of this they can only paint what is theirs, don't know if the tunnel is on SCFC land or not? however, anything that is their land they should so as much as possible even if it's as simple as painting stuff red & white we need a CEO who understands football

On a similar topic, i think the communication from the club from the top absolutely stinks. Lack of communication about a potential new CEO / structure, lack of communication about FFP to fans and really how dire the situation is.

I go to Ashton Gate pretty regularly to watch Bristol Bears rugby. They have a fanzine set up outside the South stand (the opposite end from the away end) with a DJ one a stage, several bars and numerous food outlets. It’s a really good setup and very popular with fans. I gather it’s exactly the same for Bristol City matches. Bristol City get around 20k for home matches and Bears get around 15k or so.

Still, suppose its understandable they dont know what's going on when you have the joint co-chairman (or whatever he calls himself these days) regularly arriving on matchday minutes before kick-off. Seems like he can't stand being here a moment longer than necessary.

I’m off to AFC Fylde v York on Saturday, and their facilities and fan zone shame Stoke’s nuclear winter concourses. Fylde are a National League North club, so if they can do it, why not us?
