A good sacking ? Well that is a new one, so we can expect Gary, Alan & Co to scrutinise and dissect a mangers record in super slow motion using coloured lines to prove that everything was within the game, one day we may even witness a PERFECT SACKING ? Although this will may come from the continent as everything is better there ? Bayern you’ve never been the same since you sacrificed your effigy of Mark Hughes up your arse. Doing it at the right time. Something we haven’t done in a while!! Hughes is my favourite ever Stoke manager Being a captain of industry just what is the right time ? Is this knowledge gained by study or by experience in the field ? Judging by your posts on this forum the right times for you must be Christmas Eve, the days prior to annual leave, day before a wedding or expected birth of a child. Hughes was the only Stoke manager who never seemed too live up to his job description, he never seemed to manage.

Where do they want to be? Top ten, he could get them there What are they expecting? Is there a reason, given the owners' wealth, given what they've spent, that they couldn't do what Leicester are doing? Top half with aspirations of Europe while they build that shouldn't be beyond them. In recent weeks he's looked like he doesn't know how to stop the rot. And you have answered your own question, the difference between Leicester and Villa are the owners! You have one set of owners who are genuine committed and pragmatic fans of the club, fans and their city. The second set of owners where brought together at the very last minute on a Friday because the club was going bust on the Monday. They both come from different cultures but worship the same god, the dollar bill. Ones wealth was built in the field of Assets Broker (Buying company’s on the cheap to break up and strip it of all its assets) the second comes from the richest family in Egypt and has a 6% stake in Adidas ? A football marriage made in heaven.

The club has invested a lot of money in recent years and there haven't been enough signs of progress.

So Dean Smith had 4 months in charge since selling Grealish🤔hardly time to judge him in building a team to try and replace the main star of the team.Absolutely ridiculous decision when you sit down and think about it especially with the amount of injuries they’ve suffered especially to Ings.Petrified owners who thanks to Dean Smith made it to the Prem and in doing so probably staved off administration if rumours are to be believed as they went all in on achieving their goal.

I don't see this as the right time for Villa Having watched a fair bit of them recently, I can see why they were starting to feel jittery. They have had an influx of players having lost their star player Up and down results first half of the season to be expected Who are they going to get? Lampard? Denmark national manager? Sacking a manager during the season if you haven't got a better or at least more suitable manager is daft Look at Spurs with Poch, one bad spell and they chop him. Ridiculous decision

Ridiculous decision Poch had gone stale at Spurs and they’d had a prolonged bad run. They were at the end of their cycle. Where they went wrong, and you make a valid point in mentioning Lampard etc, is that they made a mess of the succession with the wrong appointment. I don’t know who Villa will get but I don’t quite get the notion that they can’t conceivably improve on a bloke who’d rarely convinced as a top flight manager. Poch’s appointment at Southampton is the model of how this thing works well. There was all this wailing and gnashing of teeth about Nigel Adkins and Pochettino was an improvement by every reasonable metric. As for Villa, this isn’t the first big splurge they’ve had that hasn’t noticeably improved them. The way Wolves, Arsenal and West Ham sliced through them constantly made them look like a team that didn’t have any semblance of shape. Smith went for a back three one week, a different system the next, chopped and changed his defence, dropped his captain. All a bit Nathan Jones.

I think you’re massively overrating Smith tbh. Very good Championship manager, may one day make a good Prem manager, isn’t a manager who’s shown a huge amount at this level despite them being one of the biggest spenders in Europe in recent years.

Absolutely, someone hit on this today, maybe Jack Wilshere. Made one awful big money signing but done a great job.

I’m on about managerial ability Yeah I’m on about the situations and reactions to the sackings. I wouldn’t have Adkins in charge of a kids team.I just think it’s a very harsh sacking considering the sale of Grealish and the injuries to key players.Time will tell in the coming months though.

At the time of Adkins’ sacking though his reputation was still largely intact and he hadn’t had that spiral yet. And people were crying about how hard done by he was. They’ve had some injuries but they also look totally disorganised and tactically all over the place, and that’s on the manager. Randomly dropping Mings, randomly changing systems and then changing back again, it all smacks of panic and not really knowing how to address the problems.

In their 5 defeats on the trot the Wolves debacle is the standout game for that late collapse and then their 1st half’s at Arsenal and Southampton weren’t great either but surely he deserved more time than he was given🤔I actually think the loss of John Terry in his coaching set up is a big miss also. From what I gather from a Villa supporting mate Mings being dropped should have happened far sooner than it did

A good decision for Villa, if it stops the rot and they get a manager who knows what to do with the expensive squad they've assembled. Smith was a complete failure at Villa, I mean turning a clubs fortunes completely around mid season and gaining promotion to the premier league, reaching a FA Cup final and surviving the second season syndrome that’s a disastrous record by any standards ? & you really think all that's down to Dean Smith??! Try Jack Grealish. He turned Smiths first season around, they'd never of got promoted had Grealish not returned from injury to force them up the table and into the play offs. & the goal that got chalked off for Sheff Utd unfairly, assisted by Grealish's gaol was the only reason they retained their Premier League status by the skin of their teeth. It's a known fact within Villa circles aswell as from outside looking in that Villa's recent successes have been based on Grealish being fit. When Grealish has been out Villa haven't performed or achieved results. Grealish essentially kept Smith in a job longer than he would of remained had he not been performing as he had. No Grealish this season for Villa speaks volumes about where Villa currently find themselves & also why Smith has today been relieved of his Villa managerial duties. Everyone goes on about Smith making good signings in the Summer with some of the Grealish cash?! Villa have been playing as a team of individuals this season as opposed to playing as a team with cohesion like they were starting to do last season. Where've we seen this happen before?! Mr Hughes in our relegation season perhaps?

I saw the Arsenal game and they were dreadful for all of it. As they were against West Ham. Over the course of the calendar year they've lost 18 league games. That's only one fewer than Hughes lost with us in 2017, and there's a month of the year left. I'm not surprised the board thought they were in decline.

Pathetic decision Lose a few games and sack the best manager they have had for decades Brian Little did far better for them then Smith. He actually took Villa to 5th in the Premier League only a year before he joined us. You wouldn’t believe it was the same Little would you.

To be fair at the point in time he joined us his hands were very firmly tied behind his back regarding finances & wriggle room. We were quite literally on our arses, were in one the worst periods of our recent history and free & cheap transfer options were the order of the day..

Right now the dust has settled my opinion on the sacking of Deano , personally I think he had enough credit in the bank to be given longer but I feel the board have panicked without looking at the bigger picture, once our injuries clear up we'll be fine and a couple of wins and all would of been well in B6. I feel the major problem was the coaching staff, bringing in Shakespeare seemed to unsettle the rest,JT left closely followed by O'Kelly who'd been Dean's right hand man going back to Walsall another mistake in my opinion was getting that McFee in the set piece coach I'm struggling to see what he brings to the table as our defending from set pieces is as bad as I can remember ! Who next ? Well it's looking like Gerrard not sure about this at all as anyone with one ounce of managerial ability could get Rangers or Celtic in the top two in the Sunday Pub League and therefore guarantee Europe, why hasenhutal(crap spelling) is being mentioned god only knows, Martinez didn't pull any trees up at Everton,I actually like Potter but I don't think he'd come as he's worked hard to turn Brighton around,i also wouldn't mind Fauve the ex BVB coach but would he come ? So to sum up I ain't got a clue who's gonna get it
Dean Smith gave us some great memories and I for one will always be grateful for what he did for The Villa,a proper Villa man through and through
