Pretty much every one of the centre halves named in this thread, and who you say Harry has more potential than, were all playing at a higher level than Souttar is right now at the same age. Some of the centre halves named are up there with the very best in the business, Harry Souttar is looking very good at this level but some of the comments on this thread are laughable. I’m not really bothered what you think to be honest. It’s my opinion. Vincent Pericard played for Juventus in serie A you know? I know it's your opinion, and you have every right to not give a shit about mine as well, even if I'm right and you are wrong The Vincent Pericard example means nothing by the way.

Even Shawcross at the same age was captain of a Premier League team not vice captain of a Championship team. Souttar is good but let's be realistic and rein in our expectations. He still makes mistakes and I didn't notice too many rumours linking him to Premier teams this summer. They seemed to see more in Collins who himself can't yet get into Burnley's team.

All I was trying to demonstrate was that just because they were playing for a top team at an early age doesn’t mean they aren’t a useless lump. Not that I’m inferring that Vincent was a useless lump you understand. 😉

Burnley will be relegated this year. I think Shawcross was 24 when he became Captain of Stoke and was dropped for the next 8 games after our defeat at Bolton first game of the season.

Has collins even come off the bench for Barnsley yet? never mind a start. I think it was a mistake for him to leave, maybe January or next summer would have been a better time, he isnt quite ready yet for the prem ( imho). Wonder if he is regretting the move yet. It's still early and I guess he gets to watch the prem big boys for free, but surely he is at a stage of his career that he needs to be playing and learning, not sitting on his ass watching
looking at Burnley bench, they seem to like ex stoke defenders ( collins, peiters bardsley)

Harry Souttar born October 98. Ryan Shawcross born Oct 1987, first joined Stoke on loan Aug 2007 age 19, first game in Premier Aug 08 age 20, dropped for (I'll take your word for it) 8 games, ever-present bar injury or suspension thereafter, became captain Aug 2010 age 22 the age Souttar is now. Shawcross became a Championship regular a year younger than Souttar and by the time he was Souttar's age had been a Premier League regular for 2 years. It is worth noting as well that he was given the captaincy by Pulis who did not trust young players unlike MON. As I say Souttar is a good player but has only proved himself at Championship level so talk of £20/30 million is premature, he might not even be good enough for the Premier. I think Collins is a better player.

It is amusing how he's gone from being really underrated to overrated.
I think he's player of the season by a mile and has been brilliant and is one of the best defenders in this league.
But I think he'd find the step up big. And it'd be interesting to see how it went. Hopefully it'll be with us or will cost someone a lot of money to do it. Although I'm not convinced teams will be prepared to do that.

He was the only player I applauded at the end of the match a shinning light and I hope he goes on to great things, with us of course but if not then someone else!
