Maybe but the Spurs and Spain games are the ones that would worry me if I was watching him for a decent PL side. I don’t think for one second he’s good enough for a top 6 side tbh. But he could do well at a middle of the road club possibly. But he needs to learn more and play more and develop the side of his game that imo made him struggle against that next level of opponent. 15-20m just seems far fetched for me what he is. And it sounds like I’m having a right downer on him. I’m not. I think he’s great for us and was advocating playing him sooner. But as much as I think people were underrating him, people are now overrating him. I think ideally he’d be the captain over Allen though. I wanted him as captain last season but I wonder if the slight risk of him leaving is why he wasn't appointed this year? He's obviously up there in the conversation on the basis of last night.. Possibly. Also think that once he knew Allen was staying there was never going to be another person in the frame.

Let me start by saying I think Harry should start every game and now Collins has gone he would be my choice of captain.
But I think we've got a collective short memory of the step up to PL level. Another year in the championship won't hurt his progression at all, but I don't think he is anywhere near a 38 game Premier league player for anyone other than relegation fodder. The games against quality show he still has lots to learn. You might argue he can only do that by playing against them week in week out but he's just as likely to crash and burn and never be heard of again. There is no room for patient growth at that level apart from bench warming and cup games. The best chance he has of a full season is with us, and he is still young enough to need a game every week.

Did his job last night against a very very poor side. He’s good- but he has his faults- pace can be an issue and he is easily turned. He also gave the ball away several times last night by playing low balls into strikers feet, at considerable pace, when they were surrounded by defenders and a poor option. That could be due to a complete lack of movement and options mind- but still - I’m sure he would not have taken such risks in a game that meant anything. Let’s not make hes Nesta on acid eh. I really like him- but he’s not premier league material just yet- I think he will be though. I think that is really negative. I would not describe Fleetwood as very very poor at all - they were clearly not as good as Stoke but in Matete had an excellent player who would not look out of place playing for us. I think Harry is a first class centre back and he probably needs another season in the Championship but if he went to a lower or middle ranking Premier league club he would easily hold his own.

We should shape him in the Ryan Shawcross mould... He needs to be our captain for the next 5 years minimum..if he is still with us then we will be back in the prem!!

What he would have really benefited from is a good defensive leader alongside him who is a step above and also in their prime. Especially if that defender is fast also. He has more chance of getting that in the Premier League. If he went to a lower midtable side there, I think he’d develop into it after a few weeks. He seems to be a quick learner. It’s all about having the right compliment. If he adds goalscoring to his game, he will be off to the Premier League soon enough.

Harry will learn more from playing for the Olyroos Under-23s against Spain, Argentina and Egypt, than in a hundred other matches. His goal against Fleetwood will be duly noted. And then he will be off to the Qatar World Cup next year. How old is he again?

And what? Don't see your point. I do see him every home game to be fair. At a discreet distance now I'll bet!

If Harry Souttar is still with Stoke City at the end of this transfer window I will open a bottle of slivovitz special occasion, knock-your-socks off Serbian plum brandy.
I don’t drink but this would be worth a toast and I know my dad would approve.
The truth is, if I was a Premier League manager I would have Souttar on my list and I wouldn’t be surprised if Stoke got a call or an offer they couldn’t just turn down between now and deadline day. He’s got all the attributes, everything you need.

Interesting to see MON asked about Souttar in the pre match interview.
He said that just because we signed a defender does not mean we are selling one.
However he went for an 'everyone has their price' line rather than the full 'over my dead body' I was expecting.

If a decent sized top flight comes in for him, the player is going to want to go. Most clubs in the league in the current climate are going to sell virtually anyone if they get a good offer.

He’d look daft if he categorically stated he was going nowhere and then we got a significant bid from a Premier League side next week.

I reckon that’s why we got Ostrigard in, as a backup in case a big bid comes in late for him. There’s been very little movement so far with the usual CB reshuffle merry go round that happens in the Prem summer transfer windows. The news that Vestergard has moved to Leicester and left Southampton with only 3 CB gave me the chills that they would drop a solid figure on Souttar, apparently they have a very long list of potential replacements - let’s just hope if Souttar is on that, that he’s down the bottom.

Well having watched that shit show of a central defense that Arsenal turned out, including the fabulous £50m Ben White, if an offer was made for Souttar, I’d want £25m.

Varane gone to Man U, doubt Jones would shift off as they’ve only got 5 senior CBs but that and Vestaargard could be the start of the CB shuffle! 😬
Brighton hopefully turning to Matt Clarke to fill the White void.

What I’ve liked about how Souttar is developing is how his concentration is improving. Most goals in the Championship come from defenders turning off, our second vs Huddersfield for example. His concentration appears much better than the average Championship defender and he’s still young.

which could show our midfield is a bit weak and the opposition getting through more ? Or looking at it another way...maybe our midfield is doing its job so instead of teams trying play through us they're playing over us hence Souttar n Ostigaard winning aerial duels🤔

which could show our midfield is a bit weak and the opposition getting through more ? Most likely to show our high press has forced the opposition to punt the ball long right down the throats of our back 3.

Just wish he'd get on the end of some corners a bit more..... Looking at Brown's goal on Saturday, I think Souttar needs to be in that position, with others around him picking up the pieces if he can't get a header on goal!!!
Just my thought like!!!
