Could be totally made up and speculative but then again, if you’ve got an online database on player salaries you probably well suited at doing decent guesstimating: salarysport.com/football/scottish-premiership/celtic/Celtic have a total of 52 players in their home squad. The highest earning player in the squad is Mohamed Elyounoussi earning £59,000 per week. Celtic play in the Scottish Premiership, the highest division of football in Scotland. The teams total wage bill is: £22,924,304 per year £440,852 per week And comparably: salarysport.com/football/sky-bet-championship/stoke-city/Stoke City have a total of 68 players in their home squad. The highest earning player in the squad is Ryan Shawcross earning £53,000 per week. Stoke City play in the Sky Bet Championship, the second division of mens professional football in England. The teams total wage bill is: £27,867,840 per year £535,920 per week it's a lot closer than I thought to be fair & our wages bill will ATM be much lower than that whilst Celtics won't be going up noticeably

You can see the conscious effort to slash our bill and lower our wage structure, the top half of the list aren’t with us and shows why McLean, Ince, Gregory, Vokes need to go.

So far, one journalist has suggested Souttar would be a good signing for Celtic.
Is there any more evidence of substance to this, other than that?

Is there any more evidence of substance to this, other than that? nope common sense says it's unlikely players will fancy doing well in the Championship as it's a more likely stepping stone to the Premier League than the SPL Be surprised if Premier League clubs are at the very least scouting at Souttar regularly , would assume he'll be here this season but next summer will be tough to keep hold of him if he continues to play as he has (or better) especially if he adds goals

If Campbell comes back fit and starts banging in the goals he simply wont be here for long unless we get promoted of course.

It seems to be the trend these days that a ‘journalist’ makes a comment then other ‘journalists’ comment on that comment. If there’s no news make it up !!

There is zero chance Souttar will be going to Celtic.

I cannot believe Celtic are paying a player £59.000 a week, I'd bet at least half of the premier are not paying that kind of money! Burnley won't be, Brentford probably won't be Norwich & Watford probably not either Brighton probably not would expect all the others to be paying at least one player higher than that Would imagine Brighton and Watford are tbh. And if they’re not they soon will be.

Watford I think would have been when they were in the Prem last but then probably reduced it all. They signed that Brazilian the world and his wife were after and I can’t imagine he’d come cheap. And Sarr will be wanting 70k and more to stay.

Scottish football is in the doldrums. It is sad to see for those of us who remember how powerful football used to be in Scotland decades ago.

Anyone know when he'll be back at the club? One of the players is getting the team to all sign a shirt for my lad and don't want to miss having his on it.

I think it’s very doubtful that a lad who was brave enough to move south at such a young age or took the decision to throw his lot in with a nation on the other side of the world so that he had more chance of competing in major tournaments sees his immediate future as playing games in the likes of Kilmarnock or Dingwall. His eyes will be set firmly on Anfield , Old Trafford etc.

To be fair we have no idea what his mindset is although can see him having already attracted interest from Prem clubs.

The odds on Celtic making those venues get longer every season and it’s a heavy price to pay when you play out the rest of the season in the depths of the SPL. Anyway as others have said finances up there (even the Old Firm) are pretty grim.

I don't think he wants to play in those stadiums and get smashed out the park though does he? I think he's a premier league player and if he thinks he can play at that level then he'll wait until he gets an offer, which could be this window.

No idea but imagine many players would want the chance to play at such venues. They've only suffered heavy defeats to 2 sides in the last 20 odd years PSG and Barca who if memory serves me are good sides so hardly getting 'smashed out of the park'.

The missus and her pals are all Celtic. Ive watched every European game for the last 14 years and it's hard going. It's a struggle and I don't see the appeal tbh for a player like Souttar unless he's had his chance in the prem and is looking for something else.

Would be surprised but we don't know his take on playing there or anywhere to be fair. My guess would be that there would be interest in him from a few clubs. One TV show last season singled him out as a Championship one to watch so no doubt many clubs will be keeping an eye on him as he is gaining more and more attention it seems and The Olympics will increase that.

Good Champo defender who isn’t ready for a move yet and may never be. Next 12 months are key and I hope he stays with us. Because I think he’d get eaten alive in the PL now.

Souttar was skinned a few times against Spain. Same happened vs Spurs.
And it's that 1 on 1 against better players that worries me with him.
