To be fair an Ewok would be the tallest in the Chinese Taipei team. Would like to see Trent Sainsbury the Oz midfielder play in the same team as Neto from Wolves. According to Chinese Taipei's football squad data, most of their defenders are between 5'10" and 6'2"! Their regular centre back comes in at nearly 6'4"!! Actually their Canadian born player is one of the shortest, the brilliantly named Emilio Estevez. watched both their games v Oz, fair play they plugged away in both and scored despite being well beat

We created 57 headed attempts from 219 corner situations, worth a total of 4.4 xG, last season.
20% of the xG & 20% of the headed attempts came from Souttar. He played 3661 minutes.
HS also created one poor quality chance for a colleague from a corner kick.
From a team perspective that equates to a headed goal every 50 corners.
Only Cardiff (easily the best with a headed expected goal every 35 corners) & Wycombe (narrowly) were more efficient in the air from corner kicks.
Powell was probably our best aerial threat from corners, getting on the end of a similar volume of headers as Souttar, but getting into better scoring positions.
Then came HS, then there was a big fall off to Chester & Batth, who largely won headers in relatively poor positions.

I think the issue was Souttar not executing the headers well enough? He missed some good chances. A bit of practice and modification of his technique and he could have had a handful more goals from set pieces last season

Six more goals and he will equal Mark Vidukas scoring record. How did Mark Viduka a) only score 11 times for his country and b) only play 43 times? Were Australia just not playing any football? I thought Viduka scored 11 in a single game once, against a team of 13-year-olds from Western Samoa.

I think he approached an attacking header in too gentle a way. I would love to see him launch himself at it, rather than just get underneath it and try to flick it on.

I have to say that our corners during this spell in the Championship have mostly been poor. Thompson went through a short spell when he looked as if he might be the answer but as he isn't consistently a starter he isn't the answer. From memory Edwards takes a decent corner so if he can get his mojo back he might be one for the future from next January. I find it shocking that so many of our corners either don't clear the first defender or alternatively clear the far post by a country mile. How is it that so many players no longer seem to have accurate dead ball kicks in their armoury? ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/4tzqvp1fxEemag_TAXLJ.gif) Is Alfie Doughty a corner/free kick specialist? Does anyone know?

Stoke were one of the higher scorers form corners in the Championship last season (2020/21) complete myth that our corners are poor That suggests to me that the rest of the Championship is pretty poor as well!. I'm delighted that we scored some goals from corners but it doesn't alter the fact that far too many of our corners fail to clear the first defender. There really is no excuse for so many wasted corners, which is what a corner is when it is intercepted by the first defender.

'far too many of our corners fail to clear the first defender' - obviously that happens but imho nowhere near as often as you might think most of our & everybody else's) corners are cleared after beating the first man or caught by the keeper if you are scoring more goals from corners than majority of the rest of the division you must be doing something right always room for improvement re Souttar at corners - I think because he's been so impressive in all other aspects of his game he's not copping the flak he deserves re his poor return at corners, he needs to work on that more

Isn't his return so good at this level because he's just so much taller than a lot of the opposition?
You don't need that great of a ball, just put it high enough and no one else will get close?

True, I doubt thereās anyone over 5ft 10 that plays for Nepal, Jordan, Chinese Taipei, Kuwait etc I was surprised that some of the Chinese Taipei team are actually in to the 6 foot + zone. I think itās more (a) belief now that he has a run going, and (b) physicality. Souttar is much broader than the average player he has played against at international level, but thatās just not true at club. I wouldnāt fancy him against Batth for example despite 3-4ā difference.
