We will not be signing Ryan Wintle. I wouldn't be staggered. The better League 1 Bosmans will have lots of Championship interest, you'd think, especially post-Brexit with the market shrinking. The fact he's local and on peanuts will add to the attraction. Seems to be the type who could split minutes with Mikel? www.playmakerstats.com/news.php?id=285215&nchapter=4Ryan Wintle is a classic Crewe style of player. He is the perfect ‘out ball’ for anyone who gets in trouble in possession. He has excellent technique, tempo and vision in his passing and movement. On the rare occasions when he is unfit or is playing as a makeshift centre back, Crewe’s possession play loses its structure. His diagonal passes to Kirk are the most consistent way that Crewe have unlocked defences this season. His contract is up this summer and if I’m Dave Artell, extending it is Priority Number One. The club may be able to keep hold of him, as Wintle is better suited to teams that play 4-3-3, with him playing as a deep-lying playmaker. His defensive work is tidy and assured but he can still progress as a ball winner and a physical presence. He can look to ex-Alex man Ashley Westwood as a model for where his career could go with a couple more years of development. That writeup of his game, makes him sound like exactly the thing we need, so with that being said,he won't be coming to Stoke.

Westwood now plays in the Prem for Burnley, so if Wintle is in the same mould the signing would make good sense. The reference to 433 also suggests MON may well be interested. Certainly until FFP is off our backs this is the sort of signing we will be concentrating on.

He's a good player but wouldn't have thought he's strong enough defensively for MON to fancy. Would be a good signing.
Someone mentioned Kirk... League one Marko arnautovic. Don't think he's good enough for a top end championship team, yet anyway.
Tom Lowery is a brilliant player to watch

We will not be signing Ryan Wintle. What makes you think that Ginge? I would have thought Wintle is exactly the type of player we would be signing? Local, cheap and did well at League 1 level?

Artel sounded really pissed off on RS when he was talking about losing him. He'll definitely go to at least a Championship side. Maybe he'll look at how well Powell has done well here and be tempted?
OS.

Looks like he isn't out of contract as he signed a two year deal in 2020. Sorry I cant copy the link as I'm on my phone. Looks like he is www.crewealex.net/news/2021/may/artell-on-wintle/Artell has explained that he has had Championship managers and Director of Football’s asking about the former Alsager Town midfielder.
Artell told the club’s official website: “I think the door shut firmly on Ryan a while ago if I am honest and that is not me throwing my toys out of the pram or anything like that.
“He was offered a new contract a long time ago and he hasn’t signed it. I don’t think he will change his mind now and I’ve taken phone calls from Championship managers and Director of Football’s about him, so I would imagine that has progressed somewhere else.”I'm not surprised he wants to leave, look at the state of that fucking kit he's wearing

Didn't say I wouldn't be adverse to him signing, just think we won't. I am all for signing lower league players, with a desire to play at a higher level. I think in the short term it's the way to go for us. I am just very anti any more Neil Taylor type signings..

The sort of signing we should be making. Quite agree. Then when he doesn't rip this "tinpot" league apart after 3 games, the usual suspects on here can turn into ripping him apart. That's how it works isn't it?

Out of interest, is he a massively different player to Jordan Thompson?

If we went ahead with this one, would he be as good as David Platt? Or is he a Dave Brammer? Yes but at the time we didn’t need David Platt as we had Graham Shaw

He's my favourite Crewe player, a fantastic holding midfielder who is a great passer and makes everything tick.
He can also play centre back comfortably.
I'd sign him in a heart beat, much better than anything we've got in his position.
