Has to be Rowett. The long term implications of his management far surpass the rest. We'd be premier league with a semi competent manager with 50 million to spend This 100%. Why anyone thought it was a good idea to let a manager who'd never had money to spend spunk the best part of 50 million quid up the wall is anyone's guess. God we've made some colossal errors

Rowett = 150% bell end. Scholes = 250% bell end for appointing him. Those two have caused serious damage to our football club, and it will take years to recover/repair the damage. Utter incompetence of the very highest kind.

No matter how good, or bad, a manager maybe, they are only ever PART of the problem. At Stoke we like to hamstring our managers with lunatic CEO's or empty bank accounts, or both, or forget to insure the ground... Often it hasn't been a manager we have needed, more a circus ringmaster or magician

Gary Rowett, had 50 million to spend, a half decent squad to begin with and a rabid fanbase behind him.... that he proceeded to alienate within about 30 seconds of joining the club.
I remember that Hamburg away trip in pre-season. Never has a manager become so unpopular so quickly.

Still even with what Rowett did there was no way we should have been anything but midtable.
Jones took a solidly midtable side (look before and after) and made them the worst side in the division that would have been lucky to get to 30 points.
There is no reason for what happened under Jones to have happened.

Has to be Kamara for me but I'd stick Rowett, Jones and the quitter Cotterill in there just for the way he shit on us from a massive huge height.

But people loved it so it worked. I figured him out in his first game, Shrewsbury in the cup. The loss was on him and not making the subs when we needed to. Nothing improved.

Alan Ball. Used to stand by the tunnel back in the day and Bally walking up the tunnel throwing his cap about telling the fans to fuck off is probably one of the most surreal moments I have ever experienced at a game.

The consequences of Rowett's Supermarket Sweep summer of incalculable madness are definitely catastrophic and have had by far the biggest consequences on our medium-term future.
But for sheer on-field performance it's got to be Jones - who put the tin lid on things by wasting another £20m - and unfathomably somehow making us even worse

If Rowett had been given longer we would never have flirted with relegation, yes he wasted money on overrated players but we would never have been in the bottom three. Jones spent 7-9 million on Vokes,4 million on Smith. Then tried to replace Vokes with Gregory. He acquired 2 points from 12 games which is surely our worst start to any season ever!

When MON joined, we had 8 points from 15 games.
If we carried on at that it would have been 24 points.
So even accounting for an uptick in form 35 points would have been hard to achieve under him.
This team clearly isn't that bad. The evidence before and after shows that.

You spend 50M on getting promotion, not to avoid relegation. Funny though, because that's how he set up his sides. Jones wasn't good enough to turn us round, but went in at Luton last year and performed a minor miracle in keeping them up. The job here was just too big for him at that stage of his career. Rowett has gone to Millwall and is still chucking out the same old nonsense. There is one team who have drawn more games than us this season....

Remember going to one game, can’t remember who against, standing in the paddock by the dugout. Something happened and remedy him just booting the” bucket man’s” bucket in to the air water going everywhere, he was truly seriously silly at times. But worst manager for me must be Kamara ( nice fella), who just about pips Mad Nath. Chic Bates gets the bronze.

There's an argument that the last three we had before this one are all in the top five. Don't think I'd put Rowett in there but Jones is vying for #1 with Chris "sleeping monster" Kamara and Lambert isn't far behind.
1. Jones 2. Kamara 3. Lambert 4. Ball 5. Jordan or Bates

Don't get the Brian Little votes. He won 21 league matches that season and we finished 8th. Town Hall ticker-taper for MON this year if he pulls that off. And yes I know we lost to 9 man Millwall! Context counts for a lot though doesn't it? He was seen as a huge coup of an appointment. We started like a rocket without ever really quite convincing. His signings, limited though his budget undoubtedly was, were almost uniformly terrible. We lost 14 of our final 25 games that season, including numerous thrashing to the glamorous likes of Bristol Rovers and Gillingham. He never gave the impression he was especially arsed. I think Ball, Bates, Kamara and Jones were worse, but he's right in the mix for recent times. Context count for sure, but he had a 44% win percentage with us (the best in his career ) and lost seven of 52 games. He was exasperating and ultimately incredibly disappointing, but can a guy with those statistics be in the conversation for "worst ever"? Seems harsh looking at it in black and white.

I'm surprised Paul Lambert hasn't had more mentions. His sole survival plan was get the ball to Shaqiri and hope he could do something with it. However he didn't spunk a load of money on dross though and escapes the accolade, which deservingly goes to the most objectionable manager ever to manage Stoke, step forward Gary fucking Rowatt.

He probably doesn't quite squeak into the top five but he was absolutely rubbish. Even with the win percentage, we were bobbins in a lot of those games and you could see the crash coming. As you say though, it's fair to suggest others were worse.

There is no reason for what happened under Jones to have happened. Were we actually a solid midtable team under Rowett? Or did we always look one bad game away from falling into the relegation dogfight? Rowett was an arse and that is part of what motivates me to dislike him.

When he left points wise were roughly where we are now. A couple more from the play offs though. I'm like that with Jones. I couldn't abide anything he did on the pitch or the way he is off it. The whole pashun thing made me want to drop kick him

That's correct but I don't believe we would have been anywhere near relegation if Rowett had stopped. Then again Rowett has got Millwall into a decent position above Luton without basically spending a penny. I don't have any doubt that Rowett is a better manager than Jones will ever be.
