We're not Chelsea though or France, we are a mid table Championship club. Davies won't be playing with Eden hazard or mbappe. I agree with Harry kane Yeah it isn't exclusive to Chelsea or France mate. The principle is the same.

Campbell, we don't know when he is returning. Well we've been playing 3-5-2, for starters, and the manager has indicated that's how we'll be setting up for a while. When Campbell's back I could see that changing and even then Powell likelt wouldn't be on the left, he'll be behind him as a 10 or slightly deeper.

As I'd alluded to on the transfer thread Davis is a Heskey type player. They are worth their weight in gold. Not prolific but are so busy & effective at what they do they become a valuable part of a winning team.
I'd also mentioned that if Davis came I'd still feel as though we also need a fox in the box type of striker who can play off Davis, but guess that's likely dependent on both Vokes & Gregory departing to free up 2x forward positions.
From what I'm reading today a report says that Villa have had bit of a U Turn & are thinking about keeping Davis on their books for this season afterall as they feel he is the only real cover they currently have for Watkins if he is absent from the team. They clearly don't think Wesley will be that main cover man & probably even more so after yesterday's showing. That was meant to be his big chance to impress!
If it is as some have mentioned Villa are happy to let him out on loan but his choice would be to stay at Villa Park then I'd quickly leave that one be and move on & he is clearly happy being a bit part player & you'd have to question his motivation to actually play and try and improve himself that a loan opportunity would present him with.

Its on his head, got to say though I'm not excited about a new season when you're signing a non goal scoring striker to add to your collection, especially after selling Collins for £15m. The double jabbed rumour might be a blessing in disguise after all

Definitely. As we were discussing yesterday I really do feel that a change(s) behind the scenes have taken place & we're actually concentrating on balancing the numbers rather than just allowing new players to come in & letting amount of deadwood stock up & be carried season to season like we were doing on a massive scale. Positive action in pre season against the likes of McClean & Vokes are highlighting we're no longer going to just carry players for the sake of it.Guessing FFP play have played its part in this seachange aswell but whichever way a change in direction was needed. As you say, definitely feeling more confident right now than I was prior to our recent transfer dealings.

Just shows that we only have to think of signing a player and he gets injured.

Fucking hell Bayern....shit comment 🙄 He hasn’t had a thread about him for a while, so it’s not surprising. Feel for the lad. I didn’t want him here. I felt we had enough players who could “create something for someone else” and had “good work rate” in Fletcher and now Surridge. We need someone now to take those chances. However, it sounds like this is a pretty lengthy injury that will scupper all hopes for him this window. Feel sorry for the lad.

Fast start for him - he's already mentioned the "2 European trophies" they didn't even have to teach him that.

One of the biggest frustrations of the season is that we couldn't get the loan deal for Davis over the line because of injury, he would have been absolutely perfect for us........

He’d probably have been shite for us, like every other striker we sign. He has looked the business for Forest though despite not scoring that many. You’d think he’ll almost certainly sign permanently for them in the summer, whatever league they’re in.
