100 goals😂 And how many last season? My point was as of today not at his peak. What other terminology would you use to describe his last season? He was desperate last season which is why I said good for everyone if he leaves but if a Shrews fan would be ok with him joining them as his level these days for me. I thought was quite straight forward a comment to understand. What Keith Scott scoring goals in the conference and lower leagues has to do with it only you know. completely irrelevant if a player 20 years ago scored lots of goals in the lower leagues. quote me where I used the term 'amazing' as can't see it myself.  Keith Scott scored 4 goals in the Prem for Swindon, so don't give it the conference/lower league BS. considering I used none of those terms and said nothing of the sort re him it seems you've convinced yourself. Good luck with that. What you also omitted was the level of football you were talking about, and let's not pretend all his goals were top flight. I might have milked it a bit with Keith Scott agreed but you are scraping the barrel with the 'scored a goal in a Euro semi final'! Plenty of shit players have done that. H Not to mention the fact that Vokes scored in the quarter final not the semi, where they lost 0-2

He's incomparable with the player he was 3-4 years ago. At his peak, you can't knock 2 20 goal Champ seasons and a 10 goal Prem season.
Admittedly that was in a front 2 in a direct team - but even so, he can barely amble these days. It's very odd to see a 31 year-old so far off it physically

The man should be ashamed of himself. A 9 million pound forward who can’t get in his national team ahead of some of the forwards Wales are using. It just about sums him up a complete and utter waster.

No you’re right. Vokes 12 goals in all comps over 3 seasons with us is great, 1 goal all last season also great. 20 goals since 2017-18 season is amazing. You’ve convinced me.🤩 considering I used none of those terms and said nothing of the sort re him it seems you've convinced yourself. Good luck with that. Try reading what I actually said. You said he wasn’t awful because he’d scored over 100 goals, I’m just giving you the stats. If you think 12 in three seasons is good, rock on, likewise 1 goal last season if you rate him, good on you I commend your positive outlook. However the reality is he’s a god awful player for Stoke, up there with the worst signings ever at stoke Ps read my post I never mentioned Keith Scott that was someone else

We would be effectively giving him to Shrewsbury, if it were in fact true. They couldn't afford his taxi fare, let alone a percentage of his salary. What an absolute joke

My point was that you don't score 20 plus Prem goals by being awful, I agree he was last season and would do ok with Shrews. . Bottom line is getting rid of him is a big plus even if it costs us. He seemed a decent signing at the time but obviously didn't turn out that way. Not once have I praised his time with Stoke, in fact for me he is the biggest piece of baggage we need to offload still and fingers xed is looking possible. I think getting rid of him is pretty much the end of the hangers on we have. apart from Afobe and a bit of light at last that we are clearing out those big earners. we both agree on something and that is the sooner he's gone the better. Was a decent striker in his time, that time wasn't with us though.

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-news-gossip-5563083Sam Vokes is likely to leave soon too, with hope that he can find form again if he is given game time and a system that plays to his strengths. Steve Cotterill is hoping he can land him with an ambitious move to Shrewsbury, suddenly seen to be among League One's more ambitious clubs - and Gillingham manager Steve Evans has suggested that some clubs in the third tier, no longer tied to a salary cap, will be able to spend and gamble more than some financially struggling clubs in the Championship.

I thought he was decent in a two with Gregory under O’Neill. He’s really not a solo striker though, which is how we’ve played for most of last season. He’s just not fast enough for it, which makes him look awful.
Getting him off the books would be a good move for us and him.

Would assume Vokes, Afobe and Gregory are all surplus to requirements here. If we can get them off the books. Afobe feels like he would be the hardest to move on (in my opinion). Maybe Norton will be staying this season then, rather than a loan. Think at least with Afobe we know his legs haven’t gone, which makes him a bit more marketable, although two ACL injuries by the age of 28 clearly don’t help!

The ex-Wales Euros hero, who joined Stoke for around £7million just two years ago, is understood to be available. But despite Salop’s significant wage contribution offer, the striker’s earnings could prove a stumbling block.
Stoke are thought to be keen to move him off the wage bill and hopeful of finding the best move for all parties.

It's not his laziness that stands out for me. It's his lack of aggression and apparent lack of wanting to win, it reminds a little of Bony when when he came here. He might well be putting the hours off the pitch but it just feels that when the whistle blows the opposition want it more than him and his performances then reflect that. I worry for Shrewsbury if this goes through even if we're subbing his wages because they'll be betting big that it works out for them and I'd be hugely surprised if it did.

For the best all around, all three of them were cut from the same cloth. I was starting to worry about Sheikh's state of mind. He seemed like a bitter and angry person. Onto the subject, getting Vokes off the wage bill will be a step in the right direction. Better for everybody that he finds his level in the leagues below.

He’s no Campbell and was in poor form in the middle of last season but improved towards the end of it and can’t be accused of not trying. No reason for the crowd to not get behind him.

Yep, I've always thought that the best way to motivate a player into being successful is to boo them before they even step onto the pitch. That'll teach Brown not to chase down not to bother with the high press, I'm sure it'll instantly make him a better footballer as well!
