I think about 30% of the people who have had it have been asymptomatic. Also it has been said that they don't usually pass it on.

Are we really debating how he caught the virus ffs? Someone might have coughed in his face for all we know. It’s infected ~5,000,000 in this country as a lower bound based on serology. Chances are someone at the club would eventually test positive. All that matters now is that he’s isolated as quick as possible, the players are thoroughly tested and assessed and he recovers. Get well soon Michael. To be fair, it might well be important as to how MON contracted this disease. If it was from a player or staff member who is asymptomatic, then the chances are, I guess, that others may be at risk without yet knowing it. Will 'track and trace' help isolate the source, or is that only going to point out those others MON may, himself, have passed it on to? Losing 5 or 6 first teamers would be pretty serious...for them and for the rest of the season. Get well soon gaffer...and to the players and staff...stay safe!

If the whole squad and staff are being tested twice a week and he caught it off one of them they would have been picked up too most likely. Certainly given incubation times they would likely have popped up in the testing rounds. He looks like the index case if anything. O’Neill himself at this point hasn’t had any symptoms. If any player has been in closer contact with him its probably worth keeping them at a distance until the next round of testing occurs. The absence of any other cases implies he’s caught it externally which could happen to anyone.

I'm really stretching this to make the point but let's say Klopp and half of his first team squad go down with it badly, they haven't actually got a great deal of depth in the squad and they have to play a heavily weakened side for the rest of the season, which ultimately leads to them not winning the title. Can you imagine how ridiculous that would make the decision to restart look? I thought that the restart was still conditional upon the epidemic not getting any worse. That is, if confirmed cases began to spike again, then the season would be ended immediately.
And while it's obvious that your Klopp/half the squad contracting it example is exagerration for effect, if you were to get high numbers of people going down at one club, then you're liable to get the same or similar at a number of other clubs, too, meaning that the season would have to be closed completely and for good.
For anything else would be patently unfair.

Mark the whole POINT of the Klopp/half the first team going down with it deliberate exaggeration was to to set up my main point, which you've left out of the quote. I wasn't meant to be taken literally and I wasn't looking for an answer to it.

It goes without saying that everyone wishes him the best of health, and that goes for everyone in the game .
If we are one nil down v reading at half time , I think the players will really miss him .
He really is the main man at Stoke , arguably the most important man at the club , including the players .
Get well soon .
You will be missed .

News of O’Neill’s situation quickly reached the families of the players — and the three pregnant wives and partners were understandably anxious. United will look to make up for the aborted friendly with Stoke by playing Championship promotion hopefuls West Brom TWICE tomorrow at Old Trafford. Is it just me, but the use of aborted whilst describing an article around the concern of pregnant player's wives, is not a coincidence? And if so why people still read this shit rag is beyond belief.

What a load of bollocks that article is. Speculative tripe. I wouldn’t be so sure Dave we’ve a notoriously fragile squad and the leaders are getting Less available O’Neil and Allen . Said all along we are a classic case of falling apart in the restart which is why it’s potentially a disaster for us and none of this makes it less likely .

I wonder what the players will be thinking. If the boss can come down with it and he's keeping his distance, what chance have they got when the heads and boots start flying? They have families too and I would have thought they come first. I still can't get my head round a situation where, at work, all social distancing rules are thrown out the window just to play games of nogger when we've already seen two divisions call it a day even though the teams in those divisions will be hit hardest, financially, than those in the Championship and The Prem.
OS.

OS. I think many of the top clubs in European football would benefit from a severe reality check, and a reminder that the world doesn't actually revolve around them. Social welfare, family life and maintaining health are some of the many considerations that come far higher up the ladder of priorities in life, than the cash flow and wealth of the owners and clubs. We would all like to see football back, but not at the cost of personal safety. I know I'm only repeating and recycling stuff that has already been well debated, but I think that all these attempts to restart the "current" season should be abandoned as there are far too many variable factors, risks and uncertainties involved. Stop the whole thing now and take a big step back. Is any body really going to enjoy their football or be totally committed over the next month? It must be clear to everyone that it is only money and vested interest that is driving the current agenda. Stop it all now for the common good.

Get well soon, MO'N. We need you. And fingers crossed that however he did pick up the virus, it was from a source outside the club and that the players and other staff remain safe, healthy and virus-free.

I am slightly worried that this news may mean no friendlies pre Reading, which would be a concern.

Realistically the only way this can work is if everyone for the match day and support I.e chefs, coach driver, doctors, kit man etc all go and live together somewhere. The same for every club. Every time someone leaves the team environment they are a risk.

Is there any chance the season could still be scrapped for us?
Us being notoriously slow starters, not playing any friendlies, no Joe Allen and potentially no MON in the build up is scaring me! Help!
