We all must have been to a game where one player was so much better than everyone else on the pitch that youve never forgot.I certainly have although most are from my teenage years.in no particular order,Steve Mcmannaman,Livpool won one nil and he scored ,he was very young but was absolutely awesome to my young mine and I hated Liverpool with a passion.Dean Saunders for Villa tore us apart single handed and looked like scoring every time he had the ball, can't rem. Year or result.Chris waddle for Sheff Wed when he hit the bar from 30 yards,I chose not to like him and believe Chamberlain was better ,but he wasn't ,in that game especially. So only 3 names, not best players I've ever seen but best single performances that I've always remembered

Pogba in that game that Eddie managed just after Hughes was sacked - that was a masterclass.
Robinho away at MCFC wasn’t bad.

18 year old ( I think) Jermain Defoe on loan at Bournemouth, beat us one nil at home. Couldn't get anywhere near him

Ginola Newcastle in the 90s at the vic. Probably the first opposing player I saw get a standing ovation from Stoke fans( I think). He was brilliant .

You might be thinking of Peter Beardsley in that game. He scored twice and got a very decent reception from Stoke fans. Ginola got dogs abuse and was accused of diving to Clarkson sent off (theatrics aside, I'd still rate him as one of the best left-wingers I've seen play live, recent Premier League years included)

Back in 1968-69 season the Nottingham Forest main stand burned down. Consequently Forest played their home games at Meadow Lane.https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/history/day-flames-ripped-through-nottingham-1895799 The Stoke away match against Forest is burned into my memory cells. The result of a great match on a very poor pitch was 3-3. Stoke took a 3 goal lead if my memory is correct and Forest clawed the game back. Forest could have won, but for a brilliant save by Banks, one of the best I ever saw.
But the reason Forest saved the game was due to an absolutely brilliant performance by Joe Baker. He was a couple of stone over weight but the Stoke team could not contain him and he ran rings round us. It was undoubtedly one of the best performances I have ever witnessed.

Arnie for West Ham. He pulled out pants down and was subbed before he caused a riot.

Mark Wallington had one of best games I've seen from a keeper. I know it's not running the show but he was amazing.
Hated him for it obviously.

Paul Scholes.
Honourable mention to Nathan Dyer playing for Swansea a few years ago. He got subbed in the second half to chants of 'you dont know what you're doing' - might even have been Rodgers as manager.

Ginola Newcastle in the 90s at the vic. Probably the first opposing player I saw get a standing ovation from Stoke fans( I think). He was brilliant . He got dogs abuse! Ludicrous dive to get Clarkson sent off, utterly classless. He was clearly bemused by the wroth of the Stoke fans for the rest of the game and couldn't wait to get off the pitch. Peter Beardsley on the other hand was a class act, he got applauded by the Stoke fans

Willian always seemed to play well against us - perhaps he's just a good player. That Man United winger who tore us a new one at Swansea last season. Ric in that 4 3 defeat at Preston.

Glen Hoddle on his debut scoring at the Vic
George Best at the Vic when he scored 2 goals for their win.
The whole of the Ajax team when they played at the Vic, simply because it was a complete eye opener. We were also brilliant that night, but many of us had never seen football like it.

Got to agree on that. I still remember it now thinking who was that dread locked marauder on the right wing tearing us a new one.

He was just riled up,for whatever reason. He did that for us too on several occasions. I really don't think Tymons career is defined by that game.

Definitely when Scholes played against us at the Brit in the 2009/10 season I think it was. We couldn’t get anywhere near him. When they brought Giggs on as a sub he was unbelievable too.
