I may have missed the answer elsewhere in the thread, but I find this current Hogan situation to be very strange. Apparently Stoke have no further need of him, but his loan period runs to the end of the season. As Aston Villa don't want him back and won't recall him, then Stoke are stuck with him, unless we can "sub let" him and find another club for him to go out on loan to. i.e If Stoke don't want the burden of paying Hogans wages, it is them, not Aston Villa, who are obliged to help him find another club to go out on loan to and out of Stoke City. Why does this arrangement not seem to work in Stoke's favour in other situations. Why don't we say to people like Lecce, that we don't want Imbula back and if they are fed up of him its up to them to find him a new home? We should be able to put the problem firmly in the hands of whichever club has taken our player on loan, As Villa have done to us. Haven’t we done exactly that though re Imbula? He isn’t back at the club is he.

Thought he'd been "back" with us since Jan 2nd, though there has been an expression of loan interest from portugal.

I'm amazed the 'all he needs is chances' myth lives on. He is an abysmal player. Scored plenty for brentford One 30 game spell over 2 seasons. Other shit players have had moments were they look decent.

No Lecce don't want him but you can't just rip up a loan deal like numerous news stories suggested back in December. It might be in our interests to find him a club that will play him to try and attract some mug, sorry club to take him permanantley but we can just leave him to rot this season at lecce expense.

Danny Mills doing Tony Scholes' job for him.
Come one Celtic, you know it makes sense...

We would have stayed up with Hughes. Lambert was clueless and almost pulled it off, we chucked away winning positions against Leicester, Burnley, Brighton and West Ham. Lambert entered a cesspit full of snakes. He had virtually no chance of keeping us up!

Lambert entered a cesspit full of snakes. He had virtually no chance of keeping us up! He was clueless, had no tactical plan, played Bauer wide on the left and didn’t improve any players. MON has shown what doing the basics right can achieve. Even then we created the opportunities to keep us up. Hughes would have done enough

It will still be at our expense because Lecce signed him with wages paid by scfc. But at least we don't have him around to break down morale.

Well yes. Its not as though Hogan has been contributing, so no real loss to us.

Scored plenty for brentford One 30 game spell over 2 seasons. Other shit players have had moments were they look decent. Doesn't tell the whole story.
Bees spotted and signed him for £750k from Rochdale after his breakthrough season in f-t football (had been non-league).
Two games into his Bees career, he was seriously crocked with a knee injury (Aug.2014), which saw him out of the game until March 2016, where he needed 3 games to shake off the rust, before scoring 7 goals in the last 4 games of the season - absolutely flying he was.
He next took up in 2016/17 where he'd just left off, scoring 14 goals in 24 Championship games, causing Villa to shell out c.£10m for a loan-into-permanent deal in Jan.2017, when he was still only 24, i.e. with his best years to come. And if on the generous side, £10m nonetheless didn't seem hugely overvalued at the time, tbh.
Granted he's done sod-all since then, but aside from Villa generally being an absolute basket case around then, they clearly didn't understand how to get the best out of him. That is, he's not a "fox in the box" like eg Aguero, he's a runner like eg Vardy, so his teams need to be set up to counter-attack. (One of the reasons Bees were happy to get rid so soon, btw). Add in a succession of knee problems, and you can see why he's struggled.
But if you can get him fit, and put him in the right set-up, there's a player in there, mark my words.

Would we allow this if a striker wasn't coming in? 🤔 If we don't let him go, he’s the footballing equivalent of those keys you’ve got stashed in your kitchen drawer. You’ve no idea what they’re for but you don’t want to chuck ‘em, ‘just in case’.

He’s dross. Let’s hope we get Cosgrove or this Shankland
For what it’s worth I’d try and offload Diouf and Duffy too

Well yes. Its not as though Hogan has been contributing, so no real loss to us. He scored the winning goal in Swansea and a few more in the limited time he was allotted, so it is a loss. But with the new manager not wanting to use, it makes sense to go.
