His recovery should allow a centre back out the door. Should also allow us to keep clean sheets!

A 3 month turnaround for a broken leg is fantastic work from physios and doctors to player himself.

Excellent news, when he is absent we realise how much he is missed. Still,by far the best defender at the club.

Tremendous news - welcome back Ryan !
Fingers crossed his recovery continues injury free and he's back in the first team as soon as possible.

We desperately miss Shawcross in the team. For him to already be starting a U-23 match is brilliant, and it certainly showcases good work not just from him, but also the physios and club doctor.
Let’s hope he continues a healthy recovery and can get back into the first team fold somewhat soon.

3 and a half months😮Absolutely incredible and superb dedication from a true Stoke City legend 👍 Daft question but does the fact he had a full pre season prior to getting injured speed up his likely return to 1st team duty? Does his pre season base fitness level remain in tact and mean match fitness will return quicker than had he had no pre season?

Getting up to speed to return to 1st team duty something else entirely. I'm just wondering if having a full pre season actually helps with that remembering how bojan came back quickly, started brightly then faded badly having had no pre season. Clucas the same in some respects. I'm wondering if the fact that Ryan got injured after a full pre season will be of help to him and speed a first team return along?

Not sure Dave, but I'd say even now, with months out of the game and his fitness completely shot to pieces, he'd still be a better option than Lindsay on Saturday.

Two surprise bits of News tonight. Pochetina sacked at Spurs, and Ryan returns to action on the pitch. I know which shock I think should be featured on the BBC Sports headlines.
