Athleticism and pace.
Our manager says one thing and does another.

Whose the Luton lad in his mid-30s that sits in the midfield whole? Think his contract is up as well.

Barry does fit.
He's 39 in February!
If it's true, and if it's him, let's hope it's more of a coaching role!

Yes - definitely fits too. Can see that one. And can see it's Marmite-ness.

I’d have zero complaints with Barry, an absolute professional.

I'd definitely guess at Whelan.
Fits the best.

IF the focus is more to the coaching side, I have no problem with Barry or Glenn. However, if they are going to be getting significant game time, that becomes a problem. Because it's the complete opposite of the way we should be going.

Yeah that’s him. With his links to Jones I wouldn’t be surprised. I'll be honest, it was the first name that came to my mind. Thinking about it though, I can't honestly imagine that we think he could do a job on the playing side. Also if Homzy says it splits opinion then that would mean some may be quite happy about it? You would hard pressed to find anyone who would be happy with McCormack as a potential signing.

As long as they are professional, not on massive wages and not taking up playing time of younger lads, I'd have no complaints, especially if it's Whelan.
Jones wants to implement a culture change at the club and if an experienced pro comes in to improve the professionalism of the dressing room I trust his judgement.

Very popular and influential character apparently. They were gutted about his exit - and noticed some Brentford fan wanted to re-sign him such was his influence.

Of course it will be Gareth Barry.
It’s not a transfer window these days unless we sign a completely ineffective player from West Brom.

Whelan and Barry are the absolute epitome of what we don’t need right now.

Would love it to be Whelan. He was the best player on the pitch when Villa came here.
Have a feeling it would be McCormack which would be very underwhelming.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Gomez taking up a coaching role with the Finnish U21 team?
I know it’s only during the international breaks but Jones probably wants another coach around when Gomez isn’t here.

Will be McCormack. It’s a bit concerning if this is the only defensive midfielder we are after though!

Will be McCormack. It’s a bit concerning if this is the only defensive midfielder we are after though! I do think it's him. But I don't think he'll play much. I think a regular DM will be one of our big signings and McCormack will be the back-up, bought more for his influence and knowledge of the diamond.
