Having watched Whelan and Barry dominate our games against Villa and West Brom, respectively, I've come to suspect that having a very old anchorman to control the game confers advantages in this league.
It doesn't make much sense in a diamond, though?

Have either of them done coaching badges etc I wonder? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_McCormack#Coaching_careerMcCormack began taking his coaching badges in late September 2014 and hinted that he is interested in entering coaching and management after his playing career is over

As a player - Im dead against this.........but i must admit, there will certainly be benefits to having Glenn back as a coach. Very much in the same mould as JT at villa. Not really a coach but more of an advisor and someone to set the standards as to what is required at this football club. He doesn’t take any shit - ask abdoulaye😂

I think Whelan would be the better footballer but he looked so off the pace in the play off game but was excellent when we played them?

Jones did hint there might be a few small tweaks with the backroom staff, didn't he? I doubt he's got eyes on McCormack as a player. He's been more of a backup man in his time at Luton (a run of games in Jan - March last year. No games played from October - March the season before that). If he's someone for the coaching set-up who Jones thinks will offer us something then fine.

I'd definitely guess at Whelan. Fits the best. Why would Whelan split opinion?

I'd definitely guess at Whelan. Fits the best. Why would Whelan split opinion? Because people would see it as a retrograde step due to age. But I'm 99% sure it's McCormack. Much more of a Jones man. And done his coaching badges, so can add more in any coaching role while playing the odd game and being an influence and knowing the Jones system

I'd definitely guess at Whelan. Fits the best. Had a decent season for promoted Villa and used sparingly could have a positive impact on and off the pitch for us next season. It's a yes from me!

If its Whelan we have officially lost it. Have people forgot the 4-0 twattings we got when he was playing? In a '2' by the way.
Let's go the whole hog and get Pulis back.

Why would Whelan split opinion? I guess just from an age perspective? but we are not going to employ a kid as a coach? Surely a good coach has to have experience and therefore will inevitably be older not younger

Depends on how often this guy plays. As a back up player/off the bench to close games out then it makes absolute sense. As a first choice then it doesn't.
It's obviously the former.

members.boardhost.com/lutonoutlaws/thread/1558110163.htmlThank You Macca One of the best signings the club has made in it’s history IMO. Right player at right time. Had he been fit last 5 matches I’m sure we would have walked it. Leader, winner, professional, team player. We have been very lucky to have him. Let’s hope we can attract someone with equal skills and qualities to attack the Championship If only he was 5 years younger Thanks Macca -

Barry has, i think, Grandparental connections with the area and has in the past been spotted eating in pubs in Trentham, casuing many to speculate he was SCFC bound I rather Whelan at a push

Do the words 'Fast' and 'Attacking', mean something different in Welsh?
