If that there’s no doubt mate, but that penalty kick was potentially another one It just seems it’s all forgotten I think for many what followed under Hughes leaves a sour taste mate and maybe why it’s forgotten easily His legacy is spending an absolute fortune and leaving us with a squad of players that is struggling to survive in the championship. That is what he will rightly be remembered for. Hughes was/is an arrogant cunt who got lucky when he inherited a squad of experienced and savvy premier league players. The Coventry fa cup game is the one i remember whist he was our claviger.

Point one. We shouldn’t get rid of NJ. Clearly bonkers to get rid. Point two. I’ve never known Stoke fans be so excepting of our, dull footy. Purely from a visual spectical we are dreadful, I mean awful to watch. How can that be ok? I think I need an extended break from this message board. Every post no matter what the result on the pitch is either a dig at the manager, the board, the players or that the opposition was too easy. We are where we are. We have the players and manager that we have. NJ ain’t gonna get any kind of tune out of any kind of mix of players. We’re unbalanced, and woefully short of character. Successive managerial appointment have compounded the problem and no matter who had come in wouldn’t have got much more out of this group. If 11 games is enough to hang a manager with the remnants of 2 previous incumbents assembled playing staff is justified, I’m ashamed to be associated with some so called fans. Remember Mick Mills, Joe Jordan, Kris Kamara? They were infinitely worse than what we currently have. The request of patience seems totally lost on some.

There is a rump of supporters that suddenly find being 17th in the Championship and barely raising a shot in anger, not just against the likes of Derby but also the likes of Ipswich as being perfectly acceptable. They've somehow convinced themselves that this group of players is so bad it is has no right to compete with the might of Blackburn, Swansea, Brentford and Birmingham and are prepared to give the manager an entirely free pass. It’s fucking hogwash. Jones has lots of time on his side but let’s not kid ourselves, his performance so far is very much in the 5/10 bracket. Personally, I was expecting a bit more than that. So was I.... but I'm prepared to give the bloke at least a couple of transfer windows. are you? He obviously gets the summer one and it has to be a big one. None of the usual excuses from Teflon Central. If we're still bumming round the bottom 6 or 7 come Christmas time though, I don't see any reason why he automatically gets another window?

So watch shit like that and suck the mop. Why? It's not good enough, pretending it is does far more damage in the long run. Out of interest, what's the minimum we should be entitled to expect in the context of the season so far? What team should we be picking, who isn't getting a look in, Bojan apart, who should be? What team would really get us firing on the front foot? As crippled by the idiocy of Rowett, Cartwright and Scholes the squad is I refuse to except that more can't be gotten out of them. I expect to at least buy a ticket to the raffle and try and win the odd game. I would have liked to have seen more of Bojan, Campbell, Bauer and perhaps one of the U23 squad at least be given a glimpse of an opportunity over a fat arsed, washed up 35 year old Everton reject shoring up a midfield. I expect us to have the occasional shot on target, Rob. So far he's talked a good game and delivered nada.

You can see he's made us very hard to beat which was a priority and not nice to watch but work in progress. As for identity- it doesn't win or lose you games. What matters is making us a solid team that gets results and can slowly see a change coming. Vokes seemed to add a new dimension to us up top and sadly we lost him last few games as his hold up play was impressive. A few more additions and who knows. Personally think next season could work out well. Things can change quickly- Norwich fans were restless 6 months ago for example

Bojan I understand but Bauer and Campbell, Bauer is awful and being kept out by some very good performances by Edwards and Campbell needed the loan and seems to be doing well, he looked like a fish out of water when we played him, he's probably learning a lot more where he is. Regards to the squad doing better I just can't see how, Bojan is the only player that maybe would be creative but who else is there, Im struggling tbh and thats been our big problem, zero creativity. Hopefully in the summer Jones gets the mix he wants and we'll see a much better side.

Agree totally with this, the time given is ticking but I'd have to add that the recruitment team, who have got one hell of a job on their hands and with past history are expected to fail us, could do without being hampered by NJ in getting rid of deadwood when the opportunity arises. I'd also like to see an end to bemoaning players performances when he selects and subs players who cannot physically do the job he expects them to do. Get back on track, concentrate on the future and let's start seeing less of players who have but a few weeks left with us. #bringbackthediamond

Also you have to look at the board for keeping him on at the end of 16/17 when it was abundantly clear he'd hit a dead end.

Again I’m not sure why a team that was struggling for shots on target anyway and has a creativity deficit was magically going to become an attacking force? It’s going to be a slow, painful process. You seemed pretty happy with the QPR result yet the Derby result, which wouldn’t have been a good one at the start of the season when optimism was high, seems to have sent people off the deep end. Yes the performance was disappointing but we still had two very good chances to win the game, defended well and had a number of first team players out, losing another one before half time. I’m a bit mystified by the reaction to it to be honest. Yes, we’re clueless in the final third. Breaking news.

It’s bizarre how when Pulis achieves something with somebody else’s players he gets all the credit but when somebody does well with what he’s left he also gets the credit It never gets mentioned that it was Holloway’s players at Palace or the previous West Brom manager but when West Brom got relegated he’s absolved of all blame It’s absolutely mind blowing how much he’s got in peoples heads on here and still does nearly 6 years after he got rightly sacked

I think the news / realisation was that absolutely zero progress is being made with regard the side being any sort of consistent attacking force. Plonk any 11 individuals on the park and the odds are you get 1 or 2 chances in a game but there is absolutely no evidence of any sort of system being put in place that creates a steady supply of opportunities (wether they are taken or not is the next step in the process). Patience and tolerance are very much the order of the day and this manager is , rightly, getting it in spades but the punters are probably thinking they have a right to expect something a little more positive against some less than stellar opposition.

The Forest game was a step forward though, surely? It wasn't great but we deservedly and fairly comfortably beat a team in the play off mix with two great goals. I just don't quite understand how two ground out away points has suddenly flipped the narrative back, given that in one we were down to 10 men for the majority of the game and in the other we went to one of the better teams in the league missing two-thirds of our first-choice midfield and our striker pulled up before half time? The funny thing is that if we'd spawned a totally undeserved 1-0 win on Wednesday with either that Ince shot when he got in behind them first half or McClean's header, it wouldn've been party time on here despite the fact that we were unambitious and below our best.

I think the title of your post is misleading.
The current experience of watching SCFC is being generally “tolerated” (not “accepted”) by a significant number of supporters who are taking a pragmatic approach. Only time will tell if NJ is the right man for the job at hand.
The unfortunate position we supporters find ourselves in is that we have no option but to give time and patience to the manager to create his own squad and style of play that will hopefully provide a level of entertainment (and that term is subjective because supporters have different views of what entertaining football is) and get the necessaary results for success.
Hypothetically if NJ fails we supporters are back at square one!!!
What was unacceptable was the Club’s hierarchy sleepwalking into a position that saw us relegated in the first place which puts us in the position we currently find ourselves.
As normal we supporters are asked (or it is expected) for patience and understanding. It’s on that basis I’ll never criticise anyone, especially long standing supporters who decide enough is enough and then they withdraw their financial support by not attending matches or choosing matches to attend

I genuinely don't think we have any personnel that could make a difference at the moment, save for perhaps chucking Verlinden in and seeing what happens - and that's what I hope he does tomorrow. It's not as if we're learning a thing from anything Ince or McClean produce in roles that won't be in the team next season. It's still as clear as mud if Ince can adapt to the No.10 role. If he can't, he's no use to us going forward. I wonder if he genuinely thinks the likes of Ince and Afobe can be the answer after a hard pre-season or whether he's slowly giving up on them? I think it's obvious McClean can't be in a diamond, and he should be phased out from this point forward, maybe for Verlinden.

Like Bojan, Baeur is afforded absolutely no leeway despite having no football in the tank, whilst the likes of Clucas are seemingly the first name on teamsheet, despite offering the square root of fuck all. It's a difficult job no doubt but I would have expected a fair bit more from a so called advocate of fast, attacking, football than we've seen so far and some of his decisions have seen jaws hitting terracing all arund the stadium. There is no discernible pattern or progress or even a hint of direction of travel. I've seen about three decent teams in this division all season and we sit in 17th and deservedly in 17th. It's pretty pathetic all told. Despite what others might imply, I don't want him gone, that would be borderline idiotic at this stage but in a thead which mentions, Pulis and Hughes, for all their faults and for all the way it went tits up at the end of their spells, it quickly became apparent that neither Rowett or Lambert could hold a candle to them as managers. I just hope we haven't dropped on a third one.
