No axe to grind , would love him to succeed as we’d love a number 10 , but candidly he was the poorest , least effective player in a stoke shirt today , and irs not the first time , Jones is using the time to give everyone he can a chance Bojan simply isn’t taking his , too weak , amd no penetration going forwards which is all he is there for

I thought he was okay with some tidy passes going forward but he also gave the ball away twice in dangerous positions, one of them being in our own penalty area. I think he just needs an assist or a goal to boost his confidence. He also did a fantastic possession winning tackle in his own penalty box second half No offence mate but we see what we want to see I’ll agree completely with your second sentence. Does he have a Championship future, would he play a minimum 23 games next season if here. IMHO it’s a massive no, I’ll be the first to hold up my hand and apologise if wrong.

Literally the reverse of how he's viewed on here. I’ve not read the whole thread as I feel like I’ve read this very same thread about 45 times this season. But I’m guessing it’s only got to 5 pages because people who think Bojan should have a chance are getting told he shouldn’t by people who thinks he’s shit because he didn’t single handled win us the game. He will forever be judged on another level to everyone else. He’s hardly played. Didn’t really do anything wrong. Kept passing the ball forwards as much as possible. For what it’s worth I don’t think he’s the answer. If I’m completely honest I don’t think we will ever see what we saw from him before (in the most part because he has nowhere near the same level of talent around him). But I do think he has more talent and intelligence that most of the rest of them have in their little toe and he’s not really put a foot wrong in the limited time he’s played this season. I don't disagree with your assessment of him tbh. I personally think his best years have gone, he's had no sort of form for 2 years and he's played regularly in that time (albeit not at Stoke) but I think the large proportion of posters on here view him as some sort of all seeing all knowing answer to whatever bad form we have and it's getting a little tiresome It was literally one of the reasons fans turned on rowett and that can't be healthy, it's bordering on obsession.

He didn’t play as a number 10 today Benj. No, but he was very poor nevertheless. I thought he was ok but it’s not really here or there. He can’t be dismissed as ‘blowing his chance’ when that chance came out of position.

The only problem of the Bojan sub was that Ince stayed on the pitch! he bottled every challenge up to that point and deliberately stayed far enough way not to have to make a challenge. Think he was frightened of the left back until he got subbed

You obviously didn't notice that he was molested by Yates towards the end of the first half. Until then he did as well as you could expect from a player who hasn't played a full 90 minutes since back in September, nothing outstanding, but just by being there he gave Forest defenders a headache, leaving space for Etebo to explore and score our first goal. That's right, I just credited Bojan with his share in the goal even though he didn't touch the ball. If you can't understand this, you "know nothing about football", as someone said earlier in the thread. I suggest you watch the goal again!! He is nowhere near the ball and there are no Forest players running anyway near him. Bojan has absolutely nothing to do with the first goal I never said he was. I said that he drew defenders' focus to him, which made it much easier for Etebo to go on his goalscoring run, and if you can't see that you truly "know nothing about football."

If I'm not mistaken Etebo was accused of being somewhat anonymous and lacking spark not so long ago but after regular starts as become probably our most consistent MOM and first name on team sheet in recent matches, the same can be said for Clucas and Edwards with both showing huge improvements from very shaky starts. Surely it's not a lot to ask for Bojan to be given the same opportunities shown to them especially given his odd appearances haven't been a total car wreck.

You can probably narrow that segment - that see him as the answer to all our problems - down to those who don't want him to succeed for Stoke, and there's apparently a few that do. Because they feel overwhelmed by the support the "large proportion" offers, they get it in their heads that he must be superman reincarnated. Obviously no player can live up to those expectations. The aforementioned large proportions have a somewhat more realistic view of what Bojan, once he's been allowed successive games to gain match form, could potentially do for Stoke. But as he has not been allowed any sort of coherency over a lengthy stretch of time, no one can really know for sure. That's why we (and I use the plural, because it's not just me) would like to see him given a chance, like most other people at the club, to play some succession of games. If he fails, then he's failed. But we cannot say that until he's played, say, six successive games, and not just cameos, thank you.

Sentiment vs logic. Nice guy vs Ineffectual Played 30 times in one season since 2007-8 1 goal in 30 games over the past 2 seasons for us and in Germany. Chances of returning to full fitness and form - same as Berahinho, but for very different reasons: because simply, no one returns from that to be the same again Think he'd be happier, and also offer more, in China, US, etc Its said with a heavy heart, but I can't pretend to be stupid to the evidence.

Offered absolutely nothing again. For the idiots who booed the substitution, you know nothing about football! It was clear to see Bojan offered nothing, McClean is no Ronaldo but you know what you are going to get. Funny how as soon as the substitution was made we played a lot better. The sooner he leaves the better. Will stop all the fans pining for him to play when he offers so little. I completely agree. Admittedly the guy looks a shell of the player we had 3 years ago, whether it be to a lack of confidence or different systems etc, however, we have seen under 4 managers (including the tail end of Hughes tenure) that he is not the same player. I don’t understand the play Bojan hype, like you said, because when he’s on he rarely competes, is off the pace and is weak in the challenge. Where as before he was buzzing around trying to get the ball off everyone, he will now stand close to his marker, effectively inhibiting any pass to him and thus avoiding having to play with the ball. I’m sorry to all the stoke fans who love him but unfortunately he should have moved on. I will be very surprised if Jones keeps him past the end of the summer. Sorry but anyone who thinks Bojan is an integral part of the squad and should be the first name on the team sheet is clueless- he is nothing but a passenger most times and a guy like McClean, who replaced him today, offers 100x more on the pitch despite arguably a worse technical ability. I’ll take a McClean who battles and fights and drives us forward any day over Boj!

Did he do anything at all? Used the ball efficiently every time he touched it, I don’t recall him losing it once. He’s held to a far higher standard than everyone else. Midway in first half he tried switching it to Edwards and belted it way over his head, everyone around me moaned at Edwards / applauded Bojan... and then same scenario where he fired a 1-2 prematurely because he didn’t have his head up and everyone had a go at CLucas, who IMO had his best game today

Just as an aside, Bojan’s longest run of consecutive starts this season currently stands at one. For comparison, Cuco Martina had 10. Even Diouf is on 5 and Fletcher on 3....fact is, we simply haven’t seen enough of him. I don’t get some of th criticism on here, he played one of the best passes of the game (the 25 yard line breaker to Clucas) and got past 2-3 players early in the second half. His talent is still there it’s just buried underneath all the rust.
