Well as far as I’m concerned the first priority of a fullback is to defend and stop crosses I don’t care if they can run fast and whip a fair cross or two in Can they defend Bauer cannot Jones does, they are a big part of his set up. I think he also likes them to be able to defend

He wasn't the worst player on the pitch, but come on. He hasn't played a full game in some time, bit of slack needed.

He was completely fucked second half. He’s gone from not playing since the start of season to being asked to play a role that demands him bombing up and down the pitch all match.

Looked decent first half, if a little rusty - understandable.
Blowing out of his arse after 60 mins - also understandable.
Very oddly not subbed with a replacement on the bench - not understandable.

He played well first half. Sat back second half which seemed odd, seemed like he might have been told to maybe, but also had Clucas in front him who was absolutely bloody useless. This. Had a very good first half Had to defend second half and frankly he’s not very good at it Always play him in midfield then! Problems solved. Next question?

Other players being complete toss does not get him off the hook either. The lad as got no match fitness. Sounded like he was ok for 70 mins like them all, however may have tired? I’d still pick him Saturday If he plays and Leeds have any strength wide left we’ll get raped

I would have thought the sensible things to do is bring Edwards on and move Bauer to the right of the diamond as Clucas was doing nothing but it happened so fast I don’t think Jones had time....

Well at least this one can be put to bed for good. He is complete toss - CONFIRMED Bollocks that is, he was one of the best players on the pitch. For someone who hasn't played a meaningful game in months he showed pace, got forward well, played some really neat and quick passes (to our players to, might I add) and was one of the only ones with the foresight to read where the ball was going to be in three seconds from that point. How anyone can say he was wank is unreal. He looked a different class to pretty much everyone in red and white, bar Campbell and Adam.

He looked frightened to take that risk at times. On a number of occasions in the first half he went for make a run but then doubted himself and stopped. Hopefuly he will come good, but he does need work on his defending still

Three clear times tonight he tried to con the ref into giving him a free kick and each time the ref saw through him, at Forest when he last graced our team and admittedly he was just Wank, he pulled the same trick and with the same outcome ? And so we have witnessed the second coming or should I say conning ! He can’t defend, he goes disappearing and instead of trying to take the player on he’s takes the ref on !

I know he gets up and down when fit but fundamentally can he defend?
Positionally Tackling Stopping crosses
That’s what I want to see him show......
I know he may not be match fit but the basics need to be displayed?

He's never been able to defend and never will be able to.
The question is whether a manager can fit him into a system that gets the best out of him going forward and manages to cover for him the other way.
I suspect he will end up moving on and we'll either replace or develop Tom Edwards.

I think people had a little too much expectation awaiting his return from the wilderness. He played steady, did not rip up any trees nor did he have any serious errors. All the team looked nervy and no-one shone with the exceptions of Campbell and Williams (pre-collapse).
I hope there is a thread like this for Clucas seeing as he pretty much single-handedly gave Shrewsbury the game...

Pointless signing and a complete waste of money.

Think bauer has major issues defensively. But we really did build him up and expect far to much from da player whose not played a first team game for months.
I fear the same expectation Will surround bojan. A player who has struggled to do more than 60 minutes for years. yet again despite hardly playing this year he will be hyped up as the saviour before a ball is kicked.

Wasn't Bauer covering Williams for Shrewsbury's third? And he was probably knackered by then after not playing for a while - why wasn't he substituted for Edwards? I thought Bauer was okay.

As mentioned - Bauer & Bojan best players not on the pitch......until they play You're playing the same old record and it's pretty boring. It's like you want them to fail. Bauer has hardly played and was put out to grass by Rowett, and Bojan has been largely ignored because of his popularity with the fans. Neither are probably the answer in the short or long term, but let's not give up entirely. Fortunately, our new manager will make his own mind up and I'm happy to go along with his decision as the whole debate on these two (particularly Bojan) has become a divisive side issue. We're hardly blessed with talent given expensive signings like Wimmer, Imbula and Badou are on loan and others seem to be lacking in the wherewithal to compete. Let's wait and see with B&B, it may or may not happen for them, but don't revel in what you see as their and our dilemma.

Clucas has been poor for at least the last 6 games. He brings nothing to the team. No wonder, he's a left winger but we keep playing McCshit!

www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/stoke-city-transfer-news-cartwright-1569418Supporters of Cartwright will also say the number of transfers he personally would hang his hat on in terms of claiming responsibility can be counted on the fingers of one hand during his five-and-a-half years at Stoke City. They include Ramadan, the kind of young chancer all managers agree to with no strings attached, and January signings Moritz Bauer and Badou Ndiaye, because the club was without a manager for several weeks and reinforcements were patently required.
