That's good for them, I'm not measuring Leeds or Huddersfield, I'm more interested in how we are doing it and believe we are going the right way about it. This place was rotten to the core when Rowett arrived So if you're not interested in other clubs why mention Ferguson? And if the place was so rotten why have you stressed that we have a better 11 than most teams in the league as a reason why we'll be fine? you're knit picking now mate, Ferguson is possibly the most successful manager ever I'm inclined to value his opinion more than most as anybody would do. The game hasn't moved on at all, it's the same game, a new manager might go to a club and have instant unreal success but there is more than one way to skin a cat and just because it's fashionable to these days to change your manager the moment you have a down turn in form it's not set in stone as the right way to go. Simple logic suggests that 3 years is sufficient for a manager to build a squad the way he wants it because each and every player is his own. Rowett might not be the smoking gun as you suggest but if you look at his record so far in his very short managerial career it's not a shabby one and so far imo all things considered he's doing a decent job at stoke which is what matters. I like the guy aswell, comes across very well. Some People made up their minds about Rowett as soon as the first 5 games because he doesn't play beautifully tippy tappy football and his name isn't garacio rowetinho.

The game has moved on significantly since 1986. Sorry, that's inarguable. It's faster, there's more money involved, and managers don't get the time they used to. 3-4 years is increasingly the life cycle of your average manager, the point at which things start to go a bit stale and need freshening up. His nationality has nothing to do with anything. His tactics are negative and prehistoric, he doesn't trust flair and the team is underperforming, that's why people haven't taken to him. We're a tough watch for no good reason and we shouldn't be setting up as underdogs constantly. Don't agree he comes across well either, he's a buck-passing excuse merchant.

I think Rowett is out of his depth.
The question for the board is one of stability vs a quick fix.
We could gamble on a new manager hoping we will be promoted. However if we fail, the spiral of instability will quicken.
We could stick with Rowett in the almost certain knowledge that crowds will drop rapidly and promotion is unlikely. However, he might grow into the role over time and establish us in the top flight over the next few years.
This is a tricky decision.

Rowett ‘s play off record probably sums him up- 6th place finish with Burton in his first attempt then knocked out in the semifinals by Bradford, 4th placed finish following year only to lose 1-0 in the final ( there’s a surprise) to the mighty Fleetwood, and then scraping into the play offs with Derby after only winning 3 of the final 13 games- and as we know, GR could not even manage a shot in the second leg at Fulham as well as benching his 20 goal striker. To me that indicates that the man is performing exactly as you would expect- makes his team difficult to beat but has all the imagination of a Caravan Site. Let’s come back this time next year after perhaps creeping into the top 10 this season and see what the excuses are for our failure to mount a challenge in 2019.

I can't fault his consistency since he took over at Stoke. With no exceptions everything he touches turns to shit.

He’s got into the Championship play offs precisely once. I’m not sure that’s a smoking gun as far as evidence is concerned. The game has changed since Fergie took over at Man Utd. How long did it take Wagner to make Huddersfield’s team his own? How long did it take Bielsa at Leeds? That's good for them, I'm not measuring Leeds or Huddersfield, I'm more interested in how we are doing it and believe we are going the right way about it. This place was rotten to the core when Rowett arrived And he's done nothing to suggest that that's gonna change anytime soon...... If at all EVER!!!

I would argue "time" is one commodity he should not get now on the basis that a change has to be now or never and an outstanding candidate is available.
As Rob says above somewhere, managers just don't get time any more - which is harsh in many cases but it has become the norm and therefore the benchmark by which Rowett should also be measured.
Given that it almost certainly gets harder to get back up each successive year you stay down, we really needed to get back up this season, especially given the backing the manager has had to make it happen at the first attempt.
The thought of a long term 'project' while GR "grows into it" just makes me shudder.

Hes alienating the fans now, as well as some players (which happens at all clubs), but to patronise the fans as he did today with his Bojan/Delap commemts tells me all I need to know about Gutless Gary...... totally out of his depth.

Being realistic, he might aswell go balls deep adventurous and attacking now, hadn’t he? Doing what he’s doing won’t change results and won’t win the crowd back, he’s got very little to lose. If he doesn’t change, he’s getting the sack, so he might aswell try something different - worst case is it doesn’t work and he’s sacked, best case things pick up and we end up in the play offs and he has the crowd back on his side.

Im not one for easily sacking managers, it will take longer than fans have thought.....Give him until feb/march and re-assess (The only other person i would want in is Alladyce for his experience )

Where does it stop?? Dithering like we have done and like some fans want, is what put us in this position in the first place. Things are obviously not right the longer we leave it, the further into mediocrity we fall. Rowett has done enough to prove that he will not get us out of this league!

Is that Garacio Rowetinho? Fancy a job? I don't have an agenda, I'll be honest when I saw the line up today against Bolton I wasn't impressed, no excuse for going 451 at Bolton. 2 strikers in games like this are a must. He's got to recognise that and if he doesn't start doing it against lesser teams and use an attacking formation from the first whistle then he can't complain with the abuse he gets because it's something that does need doing. 442 diamond for me with ince #10 against shit teams. No excuses for it. I'd even do it next game, Edwards Shawcross Williams Bruno Woods Allen clucas Ince Berahino afobe 433 is fine for the so called better teams but we need to start to attack everybody else from the first whistle and set up to achieve it

He's made a mess of it so far but we're not going up this season whoever we get in, and we're not going down either. Give him some time to buck his ideas up and if we're still as bad come the end of the season then move him on.
It's been an awful season so far but I don't see it getting any better if we sack the manager, last season is the perfect example of that.
Whoever we replace him with will face the same problems.
