His worst stoke game today...but worked hard

I want to see him play the ball more forward! Way too many sideways and backwards passes for my liking.

Set up the first goal by dropping deep and picking the right pass. He was average but still contributed positively IMO.

Perhaps it's he knows who he has got along side him Mr Allen. We need Etebo back from suspension

Can't believe the grief this lad gets. He's absolute gold and the heartbeat of our set up.
Poor Ish first half but no worse than anybody else and half of the stuff he got shit for was because no bastard else would move or get in a position to be passed the ball!
2nd half Rowett had definitely told Butland to get Woods on the ball, when they tried to press Ryan dropped very deep to get the ball everytime and we played much better.
He made one or two mistakes but I certainly recall him atoning for them.

Give him the fucking ball with two yards of space facing forward and good stuff happens. We’re awful at getting him into those positions and he’s poor at creating them for himself. That’s about it.

I like that he tries to keep everything calm...just sometimes he is a bit too laid back and not as precise with his passing as he should be.. Plays too deep imho

I want to see him play the ball more forward! Way too many sideways and backwards passes for my liking. He's becoming too comfortable sitting back, he used to drive forward at his man at times and look forward to pass. He's going to Martina/Edwards and Pieters way too much.

Good player but his passing and decision making was at times woeful today.

Our improved results can be traced back to his signing, but today he was making me nervous every time he had the ball.
He helped set up the first goal, but he also nearly dropped us in the shit a few times with really sloppy misplaced passes.

He is okay but no more and not a PL midfielder. His chip passes are indulgent and take the pace out of many attacks

Players who do his (this) role always seem to go unnoticed for the work they do. It’s not a glamourous role. Whelan got a similar response

I thought he was magic when he first played, but it seems he is under orders not to chance his arm and make safe passes. That inhibits his natural play and he actually makes mistakes and poor passes. I have posted a couple of times that he seems to play more negatively with each match. I'm sure a good coach would turn him into a Premier League standard player.

Had a very poor game for his usual standards.
He’s allowed a poor game though. He’s been immense for us this season.

He's on the ball far more often than Whelan ever was. Whelan was like a safety net for the defence whereas Woods is more like the starting point for our attacks.

But both players sat in front of the defence, take the ball and plot routes forward (or sideways in Whelan’s case😉)

I thought today although he played some poor balls on occasions he did try and go forward as well. Jack’s distribution was exceptionally poor and in the first half Jack rolled it out to Ryan and he took the ball fowrd passing onto to either Allen or Clucas. I admit there were too many times of passes to Pieters or Martina, but when those passes are in front of them, I do not think it unreasonable for them to go forward with it.

I've tried to explain several times on here how our new signing always start out. Woods has just entered the Trough of Disillusionment which swallowed up Wimmer and Imbula but some players do come out the other side.

Woods looked really good when he came because he was playing as sweeper behind the back four and had plenty of space and time to do his stuff. Now Rowett has pushed him 10 yards in front of the back four he has far less time to strut his stuff. I'm not knocking the lad. I'm just putting some perspective into the situation. He gets caught out more often in the more forward position but he still makes good passes at times. He's a decent Championship player, but I've seen better midfielders in opposition sides this season.

Looked tired today I thought. Kinda hard when Gaz doesn't rotate the squad and only introduces McClean, Crouch and Fletcher each match. Add in loads on wages not playing due to being ostracized to U21's or on loan it takes the piss. Amazed he's done so well so long to be honest. Come the later stages of the season Rowett is gonna have to man up and play Bojan, Adam, Sorensen and Campbell more to his angst or we're going to get run through easily. Allen is already showing tiredness too.

He’s just a chav from Cannock. When the pressure is on and its time for him to deliver, he fails. Full of optimistic hollywood balls but gets caught in possession, like Fletcher, except 10 years ahead of his time.

I think I'd be telling him to play on the back end of the centre circle, relax and concentrate on feeding our forward and pinging passes to our wide players. He's a good player currently being told conflicting messages. I think. Lol.but I may be wrong.
I like woods. He can be a success here I think.
