Secondly we're on course to score a lot more than 57 No. I don't think so. We only score in spite on the days when we are already down by 2 or 3. When we have to be the creative force in a game where the other team sits back, we struggle almightily to get the first goal. It's just not good enough. However I will grant you that we are on course to score more than we did last season, or the one before, or the one before that... Too bad my arguments gave you a headache! "On course" as in our # of goals so far extrapolated over the season. Seems as good a method as any. Not sure why you've imagined I got a headache

Or maybe he does know better than the fans? If we all know better, then why aren't we earning tens of thousands a week managing professional football teams? All he's basically said is that he'll make decisions on who plays based on what will benefit the team in that game...exactly what a manager should do really. It is possible he thinks Bojan benefits the side more and is more effective when he's brought on later in the game, when gaps on the field naturally open up and his "game changing ability" would be more damaging to the opposition isn't it? Or is that just too obvious? He actually praised Bojan in that interview re: his attitude and training, but of course we'll ignore that and just come up with a conspiracy theory that he's refusing to play him (which he never even said) out of some kind of egotisitical spite. Fuck it, can we use Bojan not being picked to somehow blame Rowett for 9/11 while we're at it? To be fair Mick, those sort of soundbites about "training well" and "attitude" are maybe an 'easy' option for a manager to come out with. I do think it's tough with Bojan. I would love to see him playing week in, week out for us but, also, I can understand why he'd be frustrating to manage and easily dropped. He's a player that needs confidence and sometimes you need to give players time to shine but, if he starts tonight and is ineffective, how long do you give him to prove himself? One thing we haven't been bad at thus far is attacking and we do have alternatives to Bojan. For the record, I would 100% start him tonight as he won us a point on Saturday. I hope he has a stormer and goes from there but I do think it could easily go the other way and he could have a stinker. Obviously the same can be said for any player but I do think, probably very unfairly, that Bojan is much more noticeable when he's not at it because we all want him to be on it so much.

The insinuation that the league is a challenge for Bojan is utterly ridiculous. He is way too good to ply his trade in this league if he is even at 70% of his best. Get him in the side and let the opposition worry about him/us. Bojan hasn’t been at 70% of his best since before he left barc

Doesn't like footballers does Rowett!!! That's why McClean will walk straight back into the side when fit!!! McClean looked good in his last few games before his injury, he'll get back into the side as he's our best option on the left wing and gives his all every game. As for Bojan, he is playing well, but so are Berahino and Afobe and I'm not sure he's got the defensive side to his game that Allen and Etebo possess, if he is going to play it has to be in the #10 role so it's either him or Berahino at the moment and I'd keep Saido in there for now.

I simply think that this idea that Rowett is more interested in some kind of "I know more than you do, so i'll cut off my nose to spite my face" battle with the fans, than in putting out the team that he sees as best on the day (whether we agree it is or not) is ridiculous. It's 1 thing to say Rowett doesn't play him from the start due to his own footballing philosophy, it's 1 thing to say he doesn't because he's thick and a shit manager, but to say he's now refusing to play him purely so fans can't say "I told you so"? Really? That's just tinfoil hat shit.

Why is it a choice between McClean and Bojan, when one is a left winger and the other a No. 10? This. I’ve got no problem with McLean coming back into the side. We’ve really got no other viable option in the left, and I think he does a decent enough job. I would still like to see Bojan in the side, though. Butland Edwards Martins-Indi Shawcross Peiters Etebo Woods Bojan Ince Afobe McLean

Why is it a choice between McClean and Bojan, when one is a left winger and the other a No. 10? The other is not exclusively a ten. If you read his Sentinel interview he says he's happy to play at any position in the forward line. And he did at Barca and he's done that here too. As for best position he's not going there because it does not exist in GR's tactical scope. The false nine.

Of course the manager is free to chose, it’s his job. However, that doesn’t he is immune from criticism, defending those decisions is also part of his job, and the best defence is results.  Correct. But does coming up with completely baseless and unfounded conspiracy theories (based on literally nothing other than what someone on here has come up with in their own mind) about him refusing to play people in case it makes it look like the fans are right, count as valid criticism when that person has never met the bloke, has no clue about his character in general or what his plans for the player even are? Personally i think it counts as massive speculation, conjecture and pure guesswork led by nothing other than someone having way too much time on their hands. Not very good at reading between the lines are you?

Not very good at reading between the lines are you? Just because you CAN read between the lines sometimes, that doesn't mean that there are ALWAYS lines to read between. That's full on conspiracy theory logic right there! You genuinely think he'll pick a team and put his own job in jeopardy based on making sure the fans don't look more intelligent than him? He'd risk getting any further jobs just to spite the Stoke fans? What planet are you on? I'm NO fan of Rowett and he makes enough fuck ups to criticise him for himself, without needing to dredge the depths of teenage amateur psychology when you have literally nothing at all (apart from what you've come up with in your mind) to back it up.

He'll not make way for players like Bojan no matter how well they play.... Where as McClean will walk straight into the side, good, bad or just down right shite!!! I think to accommodate Bojan we'd have to move to something like a 4-3-1-2 and sacrifice the wingers, with a front 3 of Afobe, Berahino and Bojan. In a 4-2-3-1 it's always going to be Afobe up front, and the only natural options we have on the wing are McClean and Ince (as we have no other option they are going to be in the 11 almost regardless of form) - leaving Berahino and Bojan to fight for the #10 (unless we consider Berahino a #9 but I don't see him playing up top by himself). I think it's quite a big change to the formation to fit Bojan and Berahino into the side, but it's nice we have a bit of competition there. I'm not arguing your point, I agree he's not willing to make the changes required to accommodate Bojan but I can understand why. We needed another winger and another CB in the summer window, for now we have to make do with Diouf as a backup on the wing or change to a formation that is not reliant on wingers (which he seems reluctant to do). Either way, we have to make the best of a less than ideal situation until January and start getting wins from somewhere. The other reason I think he is reluctant to change things up front is that we're doing quite well at that end of the pitch anyway, if we start taking our chances and cut out the silly mistakes then we'd be winning most weeks.

For me it's simple. Bojan deserves the same amount of time to prove himself, as other players have similarly had. There are players in the current squad that have, over the 10 games this season, performed only sporadically, and in some cases that's being kind.
In a sense Rowett's in a win-win situation.
Bojan comes in, gets game time, has an impact, improves the team...or....
Bojan comes in, gets game time, doesn't have the required impact, and then is rightfully dropped; which I personally feel will suit Rowett, whom I don't think sees him as part of his plan.
Which is fine, if we're 3rd in the League and flying. But we're not.

----------- Butland ----------- Edwards Shawcross BMI Pieters ----------- Woods ------------ ---- Ince ----------- Etebo ----- ----------- Bojan -------------- ----- Afobe ----- Saido --------
Score a hatful in the first 60/65 mins, then make the Allen/McClean/Crouch subs with a more defensive and predictable display.
