Serious question.
Showing all the glimpses of them when they got double relegated.
Not a clue from top to bottom, and judging the signings, the pre season matches and yesterday, its not looking good.
For anyone that slates me for asking this, I'm sure Sunderland fans said exactly the same about them at the start of the year saying there was no chance of relegation again.
Something needs to change and fast.
PS - I also asked a similar question at christmas asking if we were going to do a QPR and got slated.... now look

No such a stupid question, we have got England number 2, a decent back line a shit midfield and a good front 3, just need a dm a left back and a striker on loan aswell as a winger and then we will be sorted

Something needs to change and fast. Something needed to change fast from last May. All we did was change our manager. Not going to happen in 4 days is it?

Complete over-reaction.
We were undoubtedly poor but we’ll be fine in the long run.

One game against a team who played out of their skin and suddenly we're doomed, FML.

No.
Sunderland had a chairman who had lost interest and let the playing side run to ruin over several seasons. We have made mistakes but there is no way we are in the terminal decline of Sunderland.
We've lost one game away against a fired up side managed by a world class nanager. The over reaction on here is as pathetic as it was predictable.

45 games left - 135 points still to play for.
I think you're just a little upset after your first game.

We're not THAT bad. However, I'm far from convinced we're the Championship-dominating side that people believe we will be. It's going to take a couple of seasons to undo the past couple of years. I don't think we will go up this season, but we will be fine.

No.
Even as a very quick comparison, there was a veritable exodus of players from Sunderland last summer, whilst they spent a grand total of £1.2m to replace them all. Yes, that's right, the same amount as we're likely to spend on a LB back-up.
The over-reaction to one defeat verges on the ridiculous. Yes, changes should be made and there are lessons to be learned, but people sounding out a second relegation on the bounce is pathetic.
One game into the season. One. Bloody. Game.

It isn't based on just a first game, its the signings, the deadwood, the performance, the lack of performance should I say, the fact that nothing has changed but the manager since last season.
Its all showing bad signs.

Quite possible yes we looked unfit & completely void of shape & leadership yesterday. I know its only one game but pre season was crap & the overall decline has been 2 years in the making. I struggle to see what difference Rowett has bought to the club so far early days i know but the signs do not look good.

Its all showing bad signs. And considering we are a championship club is it not good that nothing has changing kept England’s number 2 got a okay defence, the problem is the midfield not the deffence or attack

Sunderland had 14 senior professionals this time last year We have lots and lots. Too many really.
Are we the new Middlesbrough (spent lots last summer but didn't challenge) might be a more relevant comparison maybe?

Sunderland kept none of their good players and only signed cheap dreck to supplement them.
We're nothing like them.

No, but we're not going to win the league. The full horror of what it means to drop out of the top flight has hit home hard. Much easier to get relegated to the Championship than to get out again. Bit like a spider falling into a bath 🕷🛀

One game against a team who played out of their skin and suddenly we're doomed, FML. Why did our lot not play out of their skins? Because they were unfit, ill prepared, uncommitted and under coached.

Looking at things now we should have had a complete clear out of dead wood (Berahino and the like) and those past their best (sadly Shawcross is in this group). About 8 or 10 in total.
Too late now, as the players who couldn't do it in The Premiership don't look up to it in The Championship.
We will be lucky to stay in this division.
