He's a proper fucking throwback to an age before prima dona bullshit Arnautovic snakeism.
Outstanding attitude, application, desire and guts.
Contrast him to the likes of Berahino or imbula - so happy with this news.

So if we don't get promoted,Allen will be sold for a lot more than we could get now. Not necessarily. He could have signed the contract on the basis that if we don’t get promoted this coming season then he can leave for a lower figure than before. Not saying that’s what’s happened, but it’s far from being impossible.

Great news - top professional, works hard, gets himself involved and, hopefully, in the championship, will be capable of that bit of quality that could be the difference in those tight games.
One slight worry - I fear that if we play him and Nigerian Pete as a 2, we could be outmuscled. I would like to see a solid ball winner in behind them to do the nitty-gritty

It's perhaps fortunate for us that he is Welsh. Being in the Championship shouldn't affect his international prospects, unlike English players. It will be interesting to see if others follow his example, although he was probably only one of about three I would be bothered about keeping. It's fortunate for him that he's Welsh to be honest

I think it’s more of a struggle to see a scenario where Butland goes at the moment, though I acknowledge that this could change rapidly if he gets a chance and performs well at the World Cup, or if there’s unexpected movement in the transfer market. Maybe Jack not getting the NO. 1 spot has done us a big favour. If he had been given the nod it'd be nailed on that he would go this summer, he'd need to be playing at the top level to maintain the No. 1 spot. However as 2018/19 isn't a tournament season and there doesn't appear to be too much interest from any of the top sides Jack may decide to stay for another season. Surely he would only leave if he was guaranteed a top spot at a top side, it would be a surprise if he accepted a Begovic/Cheslea type situation and became a bench warmer. Just a thought. I guess the worry for Jack will be that if he stays with us and Pope continues to play well for Burnley, will he risk losing the number 2 spot. I would think that at some point during this World Cup, he will have a quiet word with Gareth Southgate to see if he thinks that playing in the Championship will be an obstacle for him.

It great news and as many have said it is a statement of intent from the club and in truth, a real show of ambition. Allen is a player we could easily have cashed in on if we just wanted sales to fund a promotion push and there would have been no shortage of takers. I still don't see a scenario where Butland stays but if he does, then fair play again to all involved. The options for shirt numbers for the kids is increasing by the day. 2, 3, 4, 15 & 17 are hopefully now nailed on safe bets. I think it’s more of a struggle to see a scenario where Butland goes at the moment, though I acknowledge that this could change rapidly if he gets a chance and performs well at the World Cup, or if there’s unexpected movement in the transfer market. He might not get his move to a Liverpool/Arsenal/Manure etc but clubs like West Ham, Wolves, Southampton etc will undoubtedly turn his head at some point.

Amazing news! Kind of player we want around too. He just went up in my estimation of him, he always put in a shift but he’s loyal now as well.

But can you see the club letting him go for less than say £30m-£35m? If a top club came in for him, then we can easily hold out for top dollar because by the very nature of their position it means he’s probably worth that. But if Wolves want him for £20m, we’d surely tell them to bog off. In in some respects I was hoping we’d get a decent sum for him to massively help the rebuild. It won’t be a bad thing though to have that caliber of keeper going into a Championship season.

He's capable of getting goals into double figures in the championship. Good news all round and a pleasant contrast to those who want to jump ship.

If we get a bid of 25m we'll sell and will try to negotiate add ons that involve sell on clauses and additional cash based on international appearances I imagine.

If he is to go, we shouldn't be expecting anything less than 30m surely? To be honest, I'd be unhappy with anything less than 35m with how the market works now. That said, it all depends who comes calling. Utd - No Citeh - No Chelsea - Maybe if Courtois goes Liverpool - Could do with a keep but I just don't think they will now. Think they'll stick with the two they've got. Arsenal - Cech doesn't look ready to hang his gloves up so another season or two Spurs - No My worry would be Wolves with the money they've got as they wouldn't be seen a sideways step IMO because the potential there is as big as any team outside of the traditional big clubs if it goes well for them this season. If he's going anywhere, it's there I reckon.
