Massive rarity in today's game which he sums up perfectly when he talks of players wanting to wash their hands of times of adversity. Whatever you think of his attributes as a player he deserves commending for wanting to put things right, hopefully the fire that he'll have in him will transfer to the new comers who might not have as much to prove Important observation. This is deeper than just one player committing. It will serve as the loudest signal of our intentions for the forthcoming campaign.

Nice to know that loyalty still remains a priority with some players.

Fantastic news, a real show of intent by the club and a nice display of loyalty by Allen. Sure he's getting rewarded financially but I reckon he could have easily found a Premier League club that would offer him similar terms to us.
I think he genuinely wants to atone for last season even though he was one of our better players and largely blameless.

Fantastic news! Anyone who does not realise what an asset Joe Allen is to our team is an absolute idiot. I have no doubt that our odds to win the Championship will shorten with this news!

This is fantastic news. Well done Joe and well done the club.
It is clear that the board are doing all they can to move on from last season and rectify their mistakes.
We are going to give it a right good go. Chuffed to bits!

i'm not Joe's biggest fan in terms of what he has produced on the pitch. but he comes across a a thoroughly decent bloke and his statement taking his share of the responsibility for last season is first class.
Him signing an extension with us despite premier league interest is the biggest sign of intent do far. one or two more need to follow his lead.

Tremendous news.
Should help in terms of recruitment when players see someone like him staying

DELIGHTED.
This could be the type of business that gets lads like Butland and Bauer to stay for at least one more year and sign a couple of more decent players.
VERY happy with our intent.
Even if we lose lads like that, we should get decent coin so we can replace them. Just hope we get a couple of decent wide players and things are looking up. Even with Shaq inevitably going, our starting 11 is already better than it was last season with Afobe and the Nigerian fella signing...
Love this bit. If there is any doubt over Shawcross staying or playing, I'd give the man the armband: “As players we have to shoulder responsibility for what happened last season. Sometimes in football when things go wrong players try to wash their hands of it but I’m hoping a few more of the lads will have the same target of trying to set the record straight and helping the Club bounce straight back.”

Excellent.......not only does it show that he's an honourable guy ( not the most common word that can be applied to many people ) but also that the club mean business ( let's face it he's going to be on good wages ) Good news all around, I'd say

Great news all round.. I've wrote on here many times that I thought Allen would stay on with Stoke as he seems settled & also seemed the type of guy who would have taken relegation personally & have personal responsibity to make amends. Keeping Allen at Stoke in the Championship could be what Jonjo Shelvey was to Newcastle..

This has a massive bearing on our season. Not just on Joe but on potentially making others stay. I have no doubt Butland will stay. It’s a non tournament year and I think he will commit for at least this year.. Also helps massively with incomings and smoothing new signings in. Great bit of business by the club. Wouldn’t go as far to say no doubt, but apart from a tentative link to Carson, there’s been no other links to keepers at all.

Doubtless he’s had his money put back to where it was pre-relegation, but there’s no Billy-big-bollocks about needing to be in a higher division. Joe strikes me as being cut from the same rock as Ryan Shawcross. Some people put personal happiness about their surroundings and home life above ambitions. Easy for me to say now, but I always suspected he’d be the one least likely to leave us out of those touted to do so.
Irrespective of how you see Joe’s value to the team, it’s a hell of a positive message that the club wanted to keep him rather than cash in, and that he was happy to commit to us fairly early in the transfer window.

This is great news, not only in retaining a key player for next season, but also for the message it sends out to other existing 'key' players (Butland, N'Diaye) and any prospective signings. Well done Stoke, this has been an impressive window so far ! Full of bold intent and conviction to get straight back up again

Just had to check, but Joe is 28, 2 years younger than Ryan. You'd have to almost figure that both players will stay on until their current contracts end, with both being able to Captain our side until those fateful days. Really pleased. I think this really bodes well for our manager as well, I'm sure Gary came into his decision to stay on. I agree that Jack will probably stay on as well now and I also have a feeling Fletcher and Adam and Cameron will stay as well. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing, I cant really decide to be honest. Obviously Jack is a no-brainer. What the heck is up with Affelay, the silence is deafening?

Great news, however if we think about it, it was in his best interest as he will no doubt retain his wage and have a min fee release clause to any prem club instead of only top 6 as was in his previous contract. I fear this could mean he is only here until Jan sadly. I just hope this new fee is beneficial.
