I think he has totally flopped on and off the field. Would much rather we cut our losses, or just not rely on him for anything. If he could play like he did against Chelsea on a consistent basis with someone behind him willing and able to play the ball through to him I think he'd be great for us, I know thats a big if but we've spent too much money just to rip up his contract (there's no way that would happen mind). I agree. I just don't think we can risk the chance with him. I hope we get new players in, and if Berahino can prove himself in training and build some bridges with the new manager, he can get back on the bench and earn a place.

One problem is there is no reserve team football. So unless he gets a chance, and takes it,in pre season he will do well to get a chance on the bench.

Would you give Berahino a chance?
Yes. 30 minute head start when I release the hounds, load the crossbow and go a man huntin' 😬

People with a great work ethic and willingness to do well always are worth giving a chance too. Every time Berahino is given a chance he blows it and I'm not just talking about chances on the pitch.
Lambert cut Berahino some slack, made glowing comments about how good he was at finishig. How did Berahino repay Lambert? By constantly coming in late and not getting a grip of his weight.
He sat behind me in the boxes one game, everytime I turned to look at him he was fiddling with his phone taking no interest in the game.
Unfortunately you just cannot help some people and Bearhino is one of those. What's the saying......you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink

Given a free choice. The chance I'd give him would be that, after I'd thrown him into the middle of the Atlantic, I wouldn't open fire with my machine gun on him.
But otherwise, the chance would be - go on loan to a lower league club, show humility and work hard until January, if you score 6+ goals and your reviews are positive from fans and staff, we will take you back to try and win a place on the bench.

Yes I would. I still believe that if he can get his head right and concentrate on playing again he will be brilliant for us.

I’d spend £500k on the best legal brains in the world to get him fired off. Fat, slow and a big fat lie in trades description. Or something like that.

The off the field stuff doesn't bother me in the slightest. I would love it if we could genuinely cut our losses but we can't or I don't think there's a way we can. The off field stuff absolutely points to him having more issues than we perhaps thought. If you can't get your shit together at home it very often leads to trouble at work too. Especially for professional sports players, for whom psychology is a major part of what they do. If we cannot cut our losses in terms of getting rid, I still don't think we should be going into next season with any level of expectation from him. We cannot afford to risk continually giving him a chance. I don't think he's had much of a chance tbh.

Trouble is, we as fans are going to want/nay...demand, at least one decent striker this summer after witnessing last season's debacle!!! So his chances are going to get even more limited unless he really pulls something out of the hat!!!

Well it might still happen. If our new centre forward is out through injury for a few games and Berahino ends up being his replacement, I predict the board will get ripped to shreds for a lack of forethought. I really can't see it happening anyway, it's fairly obvious the board want rid of Wimmer, Imbula and Berahino no matter what it takes and that decision was taken before Rowett was appointed.

I'd be inclined to offer him to a third tier club for half a season with a hand picked manager who'd take no shit. Harsh physical fitness regime. Landlady near the ground with instructions to keep him in, enroll him on some college course to occupy his brain, monitor his progress with fortnightly returns to Stoke for physical and aptitude assessment.
Then bring him back in Jan and see what we've got.

If we can't get rid by all means necessary then I would recruit as though he doesn't exist. After that it's up to him to work his way into the side, and if not he can rot in the reserves.

As long as he is around he will generate a toxic atmosphere and remind every one about the past season's failure.
I am more fair-minded than most I think, but I really believe the guy's behaviour here (and at West Brom) has strayed beyond the point of no return.
I don't know how a club get's rid of a character like him. Like Gazza, Best, Higgins and Co. he seems to be on a path of self destruction.

might as well give him a chance for half a season to see if he's more up for it in the championship.. he should be able to score loads if he could unlock some of what he had at west brom.

I believe in second chances and all that but he needs the toughest treatment to earn his spot and respect imo. I think he’s been a freeloading useless piece of shit and if he were my player like coatesy he’d be spending the offseason here at the ranch working his fat ass into shape in the heat. No easy rides anymore please. Get those fuckers fit and bonding before the season. We all know what a Hughes regimen does to clubs, need the exact opposite.

All work-ethic issues aside, how many chances on goal has he had since he's been at Stoke?
You could count them on two hands.
