What's the problem? FFP is a myth and financial sustainability is for pussies. Xia should write the club a blank cheque and begin his life as a busker on the streets of Birmingham with immediate effect. Idiot sugar daddies just don't know their place these days.

Are you actually putting stock in something that is 5-6 years old. Maybe we should see what Steve Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo and Ryan Giggs are up to. They could be some great options for us, and they've all had praise from managers in/around the year 2012. I get Snodgrass is only 30, but basing your argument on the weight of 6 years ago is foolish at best.

An ok option at this level and pops up with a couple of goals from midfield. Would hope we wouldn't look for anything other than a loan, although he'll probably be looking for a final contract/payday.

I'd be in for Grealish.
He's a maverick, sure. But he is proven at Championship level and will keep getting better in my opinion.

I'm sure there will be Premier League clubs after him and I can't see any reason why he would choose us over a Premier League club. Unless he has an aversion to moving more than 50 miles from where he lives now - which rarely bothers other players.

I know Villa have been a mess for a while, but this is another reason why I don't want Stoke owned by people who sound like villains from James Bond movies.

This should be an example to the stoke board of what's gonna happen if we dont get whats needed. Works both ways though, doesn't it? Villa spent big to gamble on them coming back up. It's backfired, now a club of Villa's size are in the shit. What happens if we plough a fucktonne of cash into getting promotion like a lot of fans are expecting and we don't get it?

Let's not try and compare Aston Villa to Stoke, it's not the same. Villa were juggling their finances from the moment they were relegated. The only noteworthy part of that article is this bit: "The club has put 18 months of coaching and patience into Johnstone and hoped he would become their long-term No.1. Manchester United want £5million for Johnstone. Without Premier League football on the table that deal looks extremely difficult for Villa, if not impossible." If that's not a come-and-get-me plea, I don't know what is!

We need to get Berahino off the books pretty sharpish, or actually get him up and running if the reports of him being on something like £70,000 a week are true??? Someone please tell me it's not true, after all, I'm only going on what I've seen and read!!!

Someone please tell me it's not true, after all, I'm only going on what I've seen and read!!! Sad thing is, I can't really see a club willing to take that wage on. If by some miracle another club did want him, we'd have to give him a severe pay off or contribute a hell of a lot towards his wage

Would be very decent replacement for Jack I'd have thought.
Let's hope that even Farto can work that one out.
Grealish is a non starter here - we had the chance when he was crap & we were in the Prem.
As noted somewhere above already, Adomah might be worth tapping a few keys on the calculator as well.

Watching that play off final, the only Villa players I'd want is Grealish and the keeper Johnstone. That's how poor I think Villa are. If we manage to keep our back 4 and either Badou or Allen and a few decent signings we could have a very decent season.

Good old fashioned smutty names like Randy Lerner etc are fine with me. She was great when starring alongside Robin Asquith in ‘Confessions of a Driving Instructor’ in 1972...

It's backfired, now a club of Villa's size are in the shit. What happens if we plough a fucktonne of cash into getting promotion like a lot of fans are expecting and we don't get it? I think this is why recruitment is so essential and thank God we have someone who knows the league and the potential talents in it. Villa were criticised in their fateful year for fielding a bunch of kids. They came down and then chose to pick up players from the prem who are in massive wages for a championship club. They went all out for Terry, Whelan, Snodgrass, Hogan, elmohammady etc as well as increasing the wage structure to stop players from leaving. When they went down I can't remember any real jewel in the crown that were sold to fund this wage rise as they were stripped bare in their last few years of the prem. Now the parachute payments have gone and they still have ex premier league players on massive wages that joined last year's revolution. If rowett can get it right with a good balance of talented championship players, keep as many as we can, sell those who don't want to stay and assemble a team without having to bring in more mercenaries from the prem who are paid astronomical amounts to keep a bench company ( we've enough of them ourselves berahino) then we should be ok. I don't think we have a decent plan of who we want yet to even challenge for automatic promotion but if you look at the likes of Huddersfield, Brighton, Cardiff they came up with championshipn players. If that's what we need to do although it's a hell of a change from watching your shaqiri and arnautovic then that's what we do. The times are changing and it's hard work and teamwork that will get us back to the prem
