The old chestnut, a good world cup will add value and a sh1t world cup he will lose value and might even stay. Do we just set the value regardless of world cup. I suppose the same could be said of Shaq (depending on his supposed 12.5 M to a champions league team contract clause) I suppose we wont gauge the scousers interest until next week.

Jack's almost certainly going to be second choice, so I can't imagine it'll make much difference.

Reckon there will already be a pre agreement in place with a club somewhere. Clubs will sign him now off the radar in case he has a great world cup and we up the price.

I agree with Toxic. The WC will have no effect on Jack's value. I think he will be 2nd choice & unless Pickford has a couple of mares or gets injured then I don't think he will get a game. Southgate and the MSM were already eulogizing over Pickford's ability with the ball at his feet as if that is the most important attribute a goalie needs.

I would imagine that when they had meetings with players on an idividual basis he will have indicated whether he wants to move. If he did I would have thought they will have given him an idea of what £ it would take for them to do business and his agent will find a Prem club that wants him and let them know our position. WC irrelevant bofore or after irrelevant if the money is right tomorrow he goes.

After the world cup. I am not sure we will get the sort of money we think he is worth otherwise.

In my lifetime, I can't remember an English goalkeeper returning from a tournament to glowing reviews.
Shilton came back from 1990 to some fanfare but I don't recall him doing anything special per se - there had been clamour for Woods in the run up to tournament so I think it was more the fact that he had done reasonably well and then retired.
Probably the best thing for Butland is for Pickford to make a couple of blunders and come home to ridicule when we are inevitably eliminated. That should put Jack in pole position for Euro qualifiers.

Having a Stoke player playing for England at the World Cup would be mega for those of us too young to remember the last time.

Have you seen that video knocking around of him training in the England camp recently?
His handling looks absolutely shocking, albeit only a short clip.
I'd be very surprised if Southgate picks him to start.

Jack's almost certainly going to be second choice, so I can't imagine it'll make much difference. How do you work that out? He has more than twice as many caps as Pickford and was always favoured by Southgate from U21's I'd make Butland favourite.
