He'll go to a mid table Prem team for 25m, there'll be some keepers moving in the Prem and he'll be a replacement. He would be silly to follow Begovic and be a bench sitter at a top 6 club or risk relegation with a club below the top 6 (+ Everton). I have come round to the view in the last couple of years that sitting on the bench ruins players' careers as they lose their edge. There is no doubt Jack isn't as sharp as he was pre-injury and his long period of inactivity Unless he gets a really attractive offer, he might be best served to wait till January and move to a top 6 club that are dissatisfied with their keeper's performance in the first half of next season, and want to sign a better man to push on for Europe.

Sounds like there's still some kind of chance of Liverpool then - but if that doesn't happen, he'll be staying. Arsenal seem to be well down the line with a German, don't they?

If Butland stays, it will be another real coup. Yes the money would be nice but many underestimate the true value of a quality keeper. Yes he didn’t have the best of seasons just gone but with a solid defensive set up in front of him, you would expect his confidence to grow and get back on his game.
And the fact that he only wants to go to a big club would suggest that we could still attract a premium for him rather than a knocked down price to a bottom half side.
It’s a win win.

I couldn't agree more my friend. It would be fantastic if the club couldn't agree a deal with him similar to that of Joe Allen where he stays for at least the season and see where we end up. If he does go we would still need a really good replacement as I don't think Lee Grant is up to a full season in the championship. Jack seems as happy as a pig in muck at his luxury pad in Hale, Aston Martin on the driveway and gorgeous fiancé (soon to be married) in his bed. Gooo on Jack you know it makes sense

Would be well chuffed if Jack stays. Really cannot see Liverpool or arsenal going for him and now West ham are going for fabianski I cannot see another team coming in for him. Burnley be if Liverpool go for pope, but I would like to see him in the championship ship. He's a cracking keeper but looked very susceptable last year. May be with a decent defence in front of him and guidance from a good manager we can see Jack regain the full potential that he had before this last shit season.

Liverpool's A list targets looking unachievable for them this window. Can see Butland going right at the end.

He wasn't shit last season though was he? He wasn't as good as previously but he made some blinding saves at times, he was just a bit shaky at times as well. But definitely not shit.

The other big thing is keeping hold of Andy Quy. He’s only backroom but he’s part of the furniture and as a keeping coach, he’s meant to be the absolute dogs bollocks.
Butland obviously trusts him, as have most keepers we have had in the past!

I admit I'd sell now for 25m + add ons... The reason is that we need to get on with building a team, and be ready to strike for key targets at the right time, more than we need to squeeze another 5m out of the deal.
If we are smart in dealing with the likes of bankrupt Villa and the skint Hulls & Norwiches etc, then we should recoup it. I'm of the mind that says we could buy Chester this window for 12m if we give in to a head-rush... or we could buy for 6m and the offer of a loanee, if we are smart...
So 25m, 10% sell on and 5m more if Liv win the league in the next 2-3 years. .... sort of deal. As soon as that is offered, I'd go for it and crack on

I cannot see rowett wanting such uncertainty until the very end of the window unless we have a definite replacement lined up. If Jack stays and has a blinder in the championship then I think his stock may rise considerably whereas at the moment it feels like the choice of clubs that will have him as their number 1 seems to be dwindling.
