Latest from Sky is: Sky Sports News has been told that Chelsea will NOT be signing Peter Crouch in this transfer window.
Sources have revealed that there was interest from parties claiming to represent Chelsea back in September as they tried to negotiate a move for Crouch to Stamford Bridge, shortly after the summer transfer window closed. However, Stoke made it clear at that time they didn’t want to sell Crouch.
The striker turns 37 later this month, and so Stoke’s bosses and then-manager Mark Hughes knew only a small transfer fee would apply. He was, and still is, a key member of the Stoke side. Crouch has made 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season. Crouch went on to sign a one-year contract extension with Stoke a few weeks later.

There is a reason that his spell at Stoke is the longest in his career. Decent footballer, nice guy but every club soon realises you can’t accommodate him. Whenever he’s on the pitch the football turns to shit and any counter attack is non existent. Has he even remotely got close to the goal since he’s been starting games? Aimless flick ons where 90% of the time they go to the opposition isn’t football. It was an odd signing at the time and even though he’s not been a waste of money, he’s simply never been needed. So all these clubs sign him not knowing how he plays? I don't think so. They know how he plays. Sadly the modern game doesn’t really suit him. In all honesty what does he bring, he’s not quick or strong. He’s not prolific or particularly puts defenders under pressure, he’s also no counter attacking outlet. So he basically leaves you with lumping up to his head. Yes he can use his feet but he’s not particularly great at holding it up.

Thats your opinion. Conte may think differently. Whether this story is current or a throwback to September, it is clear to all that Conte wants a big target man on his bench. They already have a big targetman. And if he wanted another the last person to look at is Crouch when you're a club like Chelsea. Rubbish - Morata (or Batshit, not sure which you are referring to) and Crouch / Llorente / Carrol are chalk & cheese. As unfeasible as it sounds they obviously are / have. Just deal with it and move on.

The presenter on BBC Radio 5 thinks Crouch is a "no-brainer" for Chelsea in terms of knowing his role, he'll be happy to come off the bench etc. Italian managers tend to be practical managers and don't care about age, reputation and so on.

It would be a shame if he left, especially as we'd get little fee coz of age, but if he wanted to go it would be churlish to deny him a last shot at the big time. He's definitely earned his bread and paid off his transfer fee at Stoke

I’m sure crouch has played longer for stoke and scored more goals than any other club.
It would be a shame if he ended his career anywhere else

In our situation we need him. Letting go a great pro like Crouch not only means we lose option b but also it will effect the team

10 mil or walk away, yes he's old but its Chelsea and they're clearly a bit desperate so why not rob them blind 😂

If they put a decent bid in, we should think about it. If not, keep the big man

Coates needs to shadow Levy and learn how it's done.

As usual I see people on this thread merrily wishing away one of our most significant players and characters - we really never learn.

In all fairness mate I think you know exactly what your going to get with Crouch, if managers choose to allow their teams play long ball it's not the players fault.

Crouch is a legend, I want him to retire here not just be used as an accessory for Chelski’s bench, he doesn’t deserve that.
Just recall one of the 700 players you’ve got out on loan you utter wankers.

The principal is if Chelsea want him we name the price at least get the money for zouma Sloan back and a bit more. I don’t see it happening to be honest though think it’s just conjecture after The Carroll link.

By default (i.e. Berahino's crapness) Crouch has found himself to be the main striker, with an increasing number of starts and full 90s. He likes playing, possibly more than the arguable kudos of cameo appearances for a bigger club in European games. Unless the club wants him gone, like at Liverpool and Spurs, I reckon he's happy to stay.

Jermaine Jenas talking on BBC updates like a contract has already been discussed and has quoted 18 months
A no-brainer' Crouch to Chelsea?
Jermaine Jenas
Former Tottenham midfielder on BBC 5 live
Peter Crouch Reuters It is a weird one, I am not going to lie. What is going through Conte's head is the need for a clear plan B - to go long and cause problems. In terms of that it is a good option. I played with him for years and for a midfielder he is an absolute dream.
It looks like it will be a year-and-a-half deal. It is a no-brainer in terms of wages and what he brings to the table. Why not?
Crouch is as professional as they come - he will be great to have around the dressing room. He will not be overawed because he has been at some big clubs. It is a great opportunity for him and I think the fans will take to him.

TP's sides were best with a mobile forward up front applying pressure and stretching play. Hughes' sides were best with the same. In both of their reigns their demise started when Crouch started more games. You automatically fire it long to him and it's pretty easy to stop. TP went for Adam behind him and it was poor. Hughes has gone on the whole for Allen being the closest. And it was poor. We don't get enough men around him. He's a good player, seems a lovely bloke and is an excellent plan B but he stifles our game so much when he starts. And that's not his fault but successive managers have fallen into the trap. Crouch isn’t s long ball striker though. Forget his height he is a better player than that. I said at the time you have to change your style to play crouch with ball to feet. He isn't a better player than that. He is incredible at what he does, but very limited.

This is going from the sublime to the ridiculous Who's next? Jon Parkin? Ladies and Gentlemen, the men in white coats have arrived and have parked up in a yellow spotted van around the corner, next to the Pizza shaped ice cream shop on the lower deck of the QE2, just harboured outside of the Chelsea club shop, which has just started to stock the latest line in Manchester United title winning DVD's.
