A board who could not see something had to be done over an 18 month period. Then try to get us out of the mess they got us into, with a cheap managerial appointment. Too many players who don't give a shit and not willing to earn their wages. If you are up to your waist in shit means you are in deep trouble,we are up to our eyeballs in the brown stuff. Being a tad harsh on Lambert. There were not many options really and he has seemingly steadied the ship somewhat. What he hasn't done, which I never expected, was turn one of our fairly profligate strikers into Gabriel Batistuta. Those are issues beyond his control really, and it means our goals come exclusively from midfield. It has relegation written all over it.

For the poor mistakes he has made keeping Fletcher and Adam in the line up, he has improved the deference somewhat massively.

Like under Hughes, Adam has been a bit part player and in my opinion he suits that role well. The penalty miss is only one reason that we are probably going down. Too much has been made of it really. You can't blame him for keeping Fletcher. On paper, Fletcher absolutely should be one of our better players and I can imagine in training he's probably spraying passes that Geoff Cameron can only dream about. The problem is when he's not in training.... he's fucking useless. I personally wouldn't have Darren anywhere near the ground again, let alone the team, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing Fletcher away at Leicester.

He needs a run out in the under 19's, although I'm worried he'd be out of his depth.

The league table and some of our upcoming fixtures suggest we could still get out of this mess (4 wins and 2 draws out of the remaining games, which would almost certainly make us safe, does not sound impossible). Unfortunately, our performances for most of this season, including recently under Lambert, suggest we are doomed to relegation. I can see more like 2 wins and 4 draws at the very best. In that case, I'll see you at Notts County away in 2020, on a cold winter's day when we're scrambling around League 1 Let's do Bristol City/Rovers - it's closer!

A lot: The negatives: 1. We are in a relegation position. 2. We have the toughest remaining fixtures in terms of league position of all the bottom clubs. 3. The manager clearly hasn't yet sussed out how to get the best of the squad, best team, etc. 4. We look less like scoring than at any time since we have been in the Prem. Shaqiri excluded, who can be relied upon to hit the occasional brilliant shot.
However: The positives: 1. We are only a few points from safety. 2. Other teams are playing poorly. 3. Not playing teams that are fighting to avoid the drop might work to our advantage. As the season reaches a conclusion it is better to play teams that have nothing to play for, like Leicester who's manager has already started to implore his team to keep fighting for 7th place. I don't think many modern Prem players are interested in fighting for 7th place. 4. Lambert is getting the team fitter. 5. Other teams have injury problems. 6. There is still a long way to go. In 2015 Leicester didn't start their recovery to avoid relegation till 4th April.
What needs to happen: 1. The manager needs to suss out who to drop from his potential team for the rest of the season. (IMO Berahino, Fletcher, Wimmer) 2. We need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot by conceding silly goals, losing/drawing from winning positions, missing penalties. (IMO We should keep with the settled back 4 now and not keep changing it.) 3. We need a stroke of luck like Jese hitting form, Campbell coming in and being successful, Cameron recovering his best form, Diouf/Crouch hitting a "hot streak". You make your own luck by hard work.
