So you’re just going to ignore my reply listing the easy chances he missed, after you said he’d had no chances? The bloke hasn’t scored for close on 700 Days and you’re making excuses for him. We all wanted him to succeed but he’s been a miserable failure and it’s all his own fault. I replied to you Smudge if you take a moment to actually look. Blaming the symptoms and not the root cause. You’re using 700 days like he’s played consistently during that time, which is nothing like the real thing. When he came in January last year the guy was clearly unfit, been hung out to dry by Pulis at West Brom with no game time other than some appearances in the under 23’s. It’s clear that there were some off the pitch problems in his personal life too. So he comes to Stoke and you can pretty much write him off for that season, clearly unfit and needed a solid 6 months on the treadmill and on the training ground before he was even fit to kick a ball at all. Yes, you could look at this and say it’s his own fault for not being fit but with the treatment he had at West Brom I don’t blame him. Let’s look at the 2017/2018 season. Berahino has played 385 minutes of football (in the league), this season, which works out at just over 4 full games. In which time he averages less than 1 shot per game. Only the ignorant can argue that we’re giving him chances, it’s simply not true. We give him zero service. On top of that, the only times he has played longer than 30 minutes in games have been Chelsea (A), Everton (A), Arsenal (H), Southampton (H). We took 4 points from the two home games, by the way. The other performances have been cameos where he’s been brought off the bench and expected to make an impact when A) he doesn’t have a realistic amount of time to settle into the game B) We have been in losing positions, which we must have the worst record in history from losing positions and we simply look broken as soon as we concede the first goal. C) You’d get better service at a help your self restaurant and that’s NONE. I rest my case. Bloody hell mate are you his agent or something! He's played 40 PL games without scoring. That includes a free shot from 12 yards recently. We've had plenty of other strikers who've had sub roles in recent years, Fuller, Walters, Tuncay, Crouch, Diouf, Sidibe and all of them managed to find the net from time to time. I'll give you one who didn't, Richard Cresswell. That's who Berahino reminds me of in overall ability, minus Cresswells willingness to work. He's just shit at this level! He obviously went through a spectacular run of form which he probably couldn't believe himself and has now regressed back to the mean. Blaming a complete lack of goals and apparent disinterest on service, formation and being on the bench is just ignoring the obvious.

I think you missed the key points in the post mate, maybe try reading my post again. You’re the one ignoring the obvious, the equivalent of 4 games so far this season and mostly thrown on when we’ve been in losing positions by which time the team around him has already capitulated. Diouf probably hasn’t scored in as long as Bera now but of course has the added bonus of playing more minutes in one game than Saido gets in about 10.

He can't complain about match time. Today should have been his day to shine, lower league opposition and all that. He should have been bursting with energy to bag a couple of goals today. He is without doubt, the worst signing in the history of Stoke City in my view. And this is no knee jerk, I, like many on here, have tried to be patient with him and hope he comes good. Gutless, disinterested, flawed and a compete waste of money. Everyone was a hammering Diouf today for all his missed chances, which is fair because he had 6 or 7 very good chances.... maybe I'm wrong but I can only recall Berahino had one which was a shot with the keep absent and the 3 defenders inbetween... My point is at least Diouf as getting in goalscoring positions and attempts away. Berahino couldn't even get in good positions.

Which could also ultimately come down to management in that we didn’t sign anyone that can play early, accurate and incisive passes to him. We’ve given him a job that we aren’t providing him a solid platform to succeed on. Yes, he does look frustrated about it and he has every right to. He looks a complete shadow of the player he used to be. Even in scenarios where a player isn’t being used properly, they tend to show a flash of something. Tuncay, Crouch, Adam and all the other players who didn’t fit Pulis’ system all showed varying shades of something even though we weren’t playing to their strengths. Berahino has shown nothing. He makes nothing happen for himself. He isn’t quick. He isn’t a problem for defenders physically. What is he good at?

And played most the season at right wing back. Being joint top goalscorer is hardly a huge accolade considering there is 3 players on the measly figure of 4 goals in 21 games. He's got no finese or class, I can imagine him having an absolute dire conversion rate because of that. Well done to the lad that he can put one foot in front of the other rather quickly but blows out of his arse afterwards.

Basically, Berahino is crap. He had just one good season with West Brom, then threw his toys out of his pram when they wouldnt agree a fee structure with Spurs and went on strike. He started drink driving, sniffing happy gasses, taking drugs and having punch-ups with his Baggie team mates.
BUT STILL, even with all that well published crap background, the twat Hughes still bought him for £12m plus and on the best weekly money at the club. Berahino has fecked up his career but is sitting pretty on £80k a week which will pay for a shed load of Mars bars each day and he a bad example to all the other players at our club. Sack the fecker at the earliest opportunity and in between, loan him to Newcastle Town to bring the fecker down a peg or two.

What's Berahino ever done to be considered so good in the first place? A 1 in 3 for West Brom in a single season of his career isn't something to shout about. Overall, his goalscoring record wasn't even that good there.

And how do you explain all those other strikers I've listed spending time warming the bench, sometimes starting, and chipping in regularly with goals? Just lack of service, wrong formation, was it? He'll end up in the championship soon where if he scores goals you'll convince yourself you were right and the rest of us will say that's his level! I wouldn't be surprised to see him in league one soon. Nile Ranger, Danny Cadamarteri career progression! Berahino = Richard Cresswell minus Cresswell's willingness to work.

Yes we all know the system we play doesn't suit him and he hasn't had regular game time etc, etc, but you'd think there would still be flashes of what he's capable of. I'd be desperate to prove myself and show everyone what I can do again, even if it meant adapting in the circumstances. From what I've seen yes he has made some good runs at times and then not received the service, but that's ultimately not good enough! Like you say players such as Tuncay showed determination and fight despite the system not suiting them but I just don't see that with Berahino sadly. Hoping a new manager reignites the passion in him but do we have time to wait for that to happen now?

It’s not just Berahino that hasn’t succeeded is it? It’s anyone who operates as an ‘in behind’ striker that comes to Stoke. They come to for a second chance and all we do is put the final nail in their career coffin. Jermaine Defoe would have a similar non impact at Stoke with this set up.

If you were the stoke manager, would you rather play with ten men? Or with berahino up front?
I would rather play, with ten men,all day long

Like most supporters I really wanted this guy to come good but it just doesn't look like it's going to happen does it ?
The only crumb of comfort is his age and the fact that a new manager with new ideas can somehow get a tune out of him.
Not looking hopeful though.

The sad fact in this utter shambles of a signing is that many on here said don’t sign him because he was seen as a one season wonder with loads of baggage that even TP and his Battersy Dogs home analogy could not sort out.

He is good at:- Giving inflammatory unauthorised interviews. e.g. " I'm sure Albion fans won't mind if I leave for a bigger club". Finding new excuses for missing training. Falling out with every coach he has worked with. Annoying meek and mild team mates to the extent that they assault him. (e.g. James Morrison) Lying to the media about why he was not playing. (FA drug ban). The ability to add unwanted weight, due to his natural indiscipline. (He leaves Di Nero bulking up for Raging Bull in the shade.) Setting up the Berahino Foundation to aid Burundians. (Pity that it appears to be nothing more than a vanity project).

Lets get this down to basics. Strikers do not require service to score goals. They do require service to score a lot of goals. Look at most strikers in the Premier. They have the ability to pick up the ball, say from a misplaced pass by the opposition or from a rebound, possibly beat a player and shoot to score. When has Berahino ever looked liked like doing that? Also every side including us has balls drop in the six yard box or roll through for a forward to tap in. Again he is nowhere to be seen when this happens. Why? He is either not good enough or lazy.

Doesn't fit the system according to the bloke in the suit that sits in our dugout. What system? Berahino's runs were creating space that wasn't taken advantage of and he only got one through ball in the entire game. That through ball came from Shaqiri and was over hit. This is a confidence issue. Also just a quickie, I was at Coventry yesterday and at Huddersfield boxing day. I was never Hughes out, my feelings were the board will make the decision when they were ready. But during those two games centre halves were injured, Hughes rearranged the team using a make shift defence yet he had a young substitute centre half on thr bench. Why put him on the bench if he wasn't going to use him? This gave me insight into what I think was a manager that was at a crossroads
