I heard he has 10 million too and also anything he can generate through sales?! IF and its a big IF he has been given 10 million then the club deserve relegation. God knows where these rumours come from but I hope to god it's bullshit, we need at the very least a replacement for Peiters, a midfielder and forward and thet alone could set us back a damn site more than 10 million! It's definitely true. I saw it shaved into the back of a dog that was wandering around Longton. The telltale sign of veracity? It was signed (rather shakily with a Wahl trimmer) Tony Scholes - Stoke City Money Counterer. Get your Bumper Book of Championship Grounds out lads, we're fooked. (Dog messages are always true.) Tony Scholes signed his name on the arse of a dog from Longton? There is a joke in there somewhere but this is not the time 😆

Read The Oatcake for years and never posted until now. 30 years ST holder, lifelong supporter (first game Jan ‘73 FA Cup, Man City away) so I’ve seen some up’s and down’s. I’m one of many who have really tried to back MH but it’s getting to the point that the facts just stack up against him, poor results against teams around us, regular hammerings against the big boys, woeful signings for high transfer fees. I look at the squad balance and the actual true quality of the players and it’s pretty worrying to say the least. I found a May ‘09 Sentinel yesterday from after the 2-0 win against Wigan - I venture to suggest that after ten years in The Prem and all the money that has flooded in, the team that day would beat the one that played v Newcastle. Sorensen, Wilkinson, Shawcross, Ab Faye, Cort, Whelan, Delap, Lawrence, Beattie, Fuller, Etherington. On an individual basis may not have been the most gifted but it was a balanced side in which everyone knew their role and the icing on the cake was the unpredictability of Ric. Compare and contrast with today’s hotch potch and I know which my money would be on!

I mean I can’t remember the last time we resembled a Stoke side with passion. Then bam, this news. A cup-tie a perfect starter game before the PL resumes. Nope the idiot is still in charge believing his own shit.

Pugsley drinks? That explains a hell of a lot. He needs to drink more and may come out of the other side making sense.

This is exactly what I keep thinking that this generation was not as gifted a group as the current team but they would certainly have given Newcastle a much harder game . You would have faith in them stopping up too unlike the present squad .

Hughes position is untenable. End of story. Do you think the hold up in this whole thing is because Peter Coates is negotiating with boro to buy TP out of his contract with them, so he can come and save us?

Going to be very interesting to see they handle the pre-Cov press conference tomorrow.
Will he take on the questions about how he's been humiliated?
Will they say 'no questions on the manager's future?'
Will they send out poor Mark Bowen?

Will they say 'no questions on the manager's future?' Will they send out poor Mark Bowen? Bowen has done some of the Cup conferences hasn't he? I reckon he'll be wheeled out and if anyone questions it, it'll be said that he has done it previously and it's business as usual. "Mark is in meetings about transfers". I have to say, the stench around the club right now is foul. It needs cleaning up.

Can't really remember
Isn't it normally the League Cup ones that Bowen does?
Think it's normally Sparky for the FA Cup ones?

State of the club...
Heard a commentator on US radio yesterday call the Stoke job a poison chalice, that few would wantm due to the poor squad. I keep refreshing the Oatcake and checking news now hoping for the headline Hughes has been sacked.
I'm trying to keep a positive outlook but it's tough right now.

They’re stalling so they can say at the end of the window. Due to the issues with the manager we couldn’t commit to spend and by the time a decision was made deals couldn’t be completed.
You can just see it.
Hughes is a patsy for the boards bigger agenda.
