My daughter has asked a couple of times tonight if we have someone in charge in between Hughes and someone else or if the players all basically just bring in board games and arse about like the last day of term. I've said I don't know, cos I'm still not sure how to pronounce Niedzwiecki. *This wasn't meant to be derogatory or anything, I've just heard it about 10 different ways and I've not the first idea which is close to right.

I think Rodgers is first choice, followed by Rowett and then O'Neil.

Although the right thing to do, can’t help feeling gutted a bit by this. I liked Mark Hughes. I think a lot of mistakes were made, but I also think he was badly let down by his players in the end also.

The "Well who else" answer was telling to me. Who else would take one of the lowest paid management jobs in the league with some top-level buffoons recruiting the players you've got to work with.
We ain't getting Rodgers. We ain't getting Rowett. We ain't getting Rafa (FACT). We may get Martin O'Neill for a few months. But after that you're looking at a pretty poor pool of out of work managers.
In years gone by, we've all had a laugh at the desperate measures clubs have taken. Terry Connor at Wolves. Magath at Fulham. God knows who at Sunderland. Hopefully Coates puts his hands deep in his pockets or we'll be cheering up millions up and down the country.

Dead right. It is 90 per cent the players' fault.
Where Hughes is culpable is in his buying AND PARTICULARLY selling/loaning of players. We would not be in the relegation zone with Huth, Muniesa, Bardsley, Whelan and especially Walters in the squad if not in the team. The weak sisters we have on the field would be scared stiff of going into the same dressing room as any three of the above after some/most of the performances we've had to watch this season.

Of all the posters on here, you have to be the saddest most annoying and emotionally unintelligent prick on here. Your abuse of someone who has shown dignity is beyond ironic. That the whole ‘project’ has failed has been obvious for some time but your vitriol for Hughes is pathetic, misguided and shows you for the thick spamming cunt you truly are. Are you a tad upset your hero has been booted out diddum's I don’t do heroes and you didn’t read / consider my post. Just thought I’d articulate what a pathetic excuse of a Stoke fan / human being you are. You are psychologically very easy to unravel but that makes you sound far more interesting than you actually are.

If Scholes sacked Hughes, does that mean Scholes now has to sack himself?

Ultimately, there was no indication at any time that Hughes wasn't working 80+ hrs on Stoke with his heart and soul in the project/club. The end was a little ugly, but I think he really felt he could get back to where he was 2 years ago. He didn't need the money. If he'd just wanted to keep his reputation intact, he would have not risked it over the last 12-18 mths and left to walk into any number of other PL or European jobs. He had to go but it doesn't mean its not sad.

Untill this afternoon, I really hoped Hughes would turn things around, keep us on the Premier League til summer where we appoint a new manager.
However, after this embarrasment the board did the right thing - I just hope they find a new manager pronto
Thanks for the good times, Hughes - this mess isn`t all you fault ...

What he said I don't give a flying fuck what you think about me sad act go analyse someone who gives a shit duck It’s quite evident by the way you consistently embarrass yourself that you ‘don’t give a flying fuck’. It is also evident that ‘giving a flying fuck’ is far beyond your very limited capacities.

Someone has got a hell of a job sorting this mess out. The squad is still a shambles! Good luck to whosoever it is. He needs some backing! Over to you Mr. Coates.

I hope the board don't share Adam's thoughts of us only getting 1 or 2. We need pretty much a whole new team No we don't. If everyone is fit we have more than enough to stay up. They just need a manager /coach to work on shape, organisation and fitness. [br Really ? I'd have pencilled in a new RB, LB CB, attacking midfielder, Winger and striker Considering also that there is still a lot that needed offloading whilst we can't do all of that in January the squad is in desperate need of a shake up
