It's a ridiculous thing to say. So you're saying he should be able to play as well against Man City's forwards as he can against some championship plodders in the West Brom team. Hardly. I'm saying if hes the best option to play he should play. So he plays v huddersfield but drop hum v chelsea yeah? If hes the best option he should play regardless of the opposition. Do you not think his two games to date actually helped him today? No I don't actually and nobody does really apart from himself. He needs to be eased in slowly against teams like West Brom and as you saw he did alright, if you play him too often against the top teams when we get a good dicking eventually his confidence will go and it'll set him back.

He's an 18 year old lad and there are very few 18 year olds playing regular premier league football (are there any?). He's raw and the defensive positioning if one area that at the moment the's lacking. That'll come with age. Defenders don't hit their peak til their late 20 - early 30s. He's still learning. One the positive side, despite his age he already looks more comfortable on the ball than all of our much more experienced defenders, and that is becoming increasingly important for a modern defender. He's got a great cross on him as well.
He'll learn his trade and go on to be a very good premier league player.

I know Hughes is getting a lot of stick right now and some of it is warranted but he should be getting a decent amount of praise for Edwards progress. At the age of 18 he is looking like he has the makings of a decent premier league right back. That could save us a fortune in transfer and agents fees.
Really pleased for Edwards and hope he keeps on improving, making the right back spot his own. The great thing too, is its unlikely we will sign anyone who could block his progress.

a breath of fresh air to me. at one point ryan was pointing for him to pass back to butland. He pivoted around and played the ball forwards, i like that, as a lad come out of the youth team you would think he would listen to the senior players but he did his own thing and it paid off. i like to see players that can think for them self and crack on with it. Also he is already 50x better at whipping a ball in than pieters on the opposite wing does. I can see him been another crowd favorite and a stokie through and through like Wilko. Yeah but at least Pieters will overhit his crosses to a much better crosser of the ball.

Over here in Oz they often say 'of an afternoon' instead of in the afternoon. Back to school for the lot of them. Aside from that it's Christmas morning here, I'm on my 3rd champagne and looking forward to the game tomorrow. Happy Christmas everyone.

I thought Tom grew into the game, by the end he was looking far more relaxed and composed. Probably because in Ramadam he had some help. The lad will have learned alot from that game.

But we should not be surprised that Ramadan offers far more protection to his full back than Shaqiri. Playing Shaqiri in the centre not only helps his attacking potential but also improves our defence on our right.

It's too soon to say a star is born, but as a local boy come good there will be at least 13000 Stokies willing him to succeed. Paradoxically they will have to hope there isn't going to be a change of manager because if there is, one of the first things a new manager will look to do is strengthen the team/squad in all areas, and he'll probably bring in at least two new full backs - which could mean Tom will have to wait a long time for a chance to establish himself.
I did question a while back if Hughes was honest when he said he always had Edwards in mind for the rfb this season. But the way it looks Hughes is willing to build him up slowly, so for Tom's sake Hughes has got to stay.

Playing Shaqiri in the centre not only helps his attacking potential but also improves our defence on our right. Stop talking common sense! Seriously though, there’s no line-up that seems to make sense (to Hughes anyway) playing four across the back and Shaqiri in the middle. So he ends up stuck out wide where he’s less effective.

Excellent again covering Shaq and then working with Ramadan. Our youth defenders can learn from his effort and poise the last few games. We should bring in more youth from our academy wanting a chance if they show his sort of ability. No more big money flops please.

Young and naive, but a true prem right back in the making. Good to see what he is like against the other also rand rather than the elite. Good performance better than what we have and a local lad to boot. Good future I think.

Another solid performance today, marked his flank well and showed energy and guile bringing the ball forward. Looks like a very exciting prospect - seems to have appeared from no-where as well when we were all talking about the likes of N'Goy and Campbell.
