I think he's trying to blank it because if he accepts the problems then he has to accept that they are of his making so would have to resign. He is desperately trying to find an answer but with the squad he has assembled there is no answer, this is the stark truth that is destroying him, you could see it in his face last night and even some elements of the press were slating him for basically calling Burnley untalented and lucky. He gave Burnley the chance to push forward, Dyche took the chance and we lost. Hughes could not believe it. We were better than them he said. No one thinks they should have won he said. They didn't deserve to beat us he said. They make a habit of waiting for something to drop he said. Never once did he say I made a mistake, I allowed them to attack with negativity because a 0-0 draw was better than a defeat and I was desperate to hang on for it. Always someone else fault. I'm certain he is doing his best, but it just isn't good enough. He just doesn't understand what's wrong so how can he fix it? Crouch missed a gilt edge chance a few minutes before. Burnley were bombarding us aerially but I didn’t see us being pegged back particularly..... We did not create a single gilt edged chance in the whole 90.

Agreed. He might have had a decidedly iffy year that's now transcended into a full on shitstorm, but the way some are going on is quite sickening to be honest. You'd think he'd taken us from the PL to League Two. God knows he's made a mess of what was something really promising but he's not done it on purpose. AND, he’s the one that made it promising in the first place!

AND, he’s the one that made it promising in the first place! Pulis made it promising ROFL - I almost wish they would replace MH with TP so you could get what you deserve, but I love Stoke too much for that.

But, you haven’t spoken any truth, so don’t praise yourself. The truth is that Burnley are in 4th place and, with some slightly different choices, we could have been there instead!

Toxic atmospheres do not achieve anything at all but almost always result in a defeat. What I can't understand is why the board seem to be inviting one on Saturday. By not relieving Hughes of his job, that is exactly what is going to happen. To make things worse it could easily put prospective new managers off from coming !

Thanks for stating the bleeding obvious Geoff ! I'm pretty confident that the toxic atmosphere will commence at kick off time and will continue even if we score first.

It's never good to see any manager abused but in reality it's pretty mild compared to the personal abuse Tony Pulis received, and is still receiving. is he and LMH receiving it, or is it just posters on here venting their frustrations on here, rather than ringing them up and shouting down the phone at them ?

I'm in no way condoning what has been typed about Mark Hughes on a message board. However, it is absolutely nothing in comparison to what England World Cup Winner Alan Ball had to face from fans in person at the matches

There is a lot of silly aggressive arrogance on here of late. I suppose some people might think its funny and thats fair enough but there will be others who are sick of reading folk just wading into other posters with no thought or respect for a fellow stoke supporter. I just can't imagine people talking like that away from the keyboard which makes it even sadder. I want hughes out as much as the next person, for the good of the club and its future but i dont think hes a cunt or whatever. Seems a decent guy. Its up to the chairman to put a stop to all this. Its only going to get worse.
