I've supported no such thing. You originally said you don't win games by conceding 2 goals, I said you do if you score 3. I reckon at the moment Liverpool would probably beat all those above bar Man City, purely down to the amount of goals they score not their defence. We shall see at the end of the season I suppose but we are in desperate need if a striker who is on fire. Our missed chances alone prove that. H But we don't play with a proper out and out striker as a striker until we need rescuing and on comes Crouch, meanwhile we have Mama at RWB and Berahino either sitting on the bench or sitting in his armchair, who's fault is this ? The manager Crappers, pure and simple. H

His past record for full seasons. Last season was the first time he has finished in the bottom half, and we were a few points short of our usual 9th place under Hughes. We are only a few points off 9th place now with two thirds of the season to go and Hughes teams are slow starters and generally perform better last half of the season. What happened last season is now irrelevant there is no logic in talking about wins in the last 20 games, 30 months, etc. Hughes removed a host of players from the squad in the summer as did Koeman. It takes time for a new squad to settle and start playing well together. 13 games is no where near enough. Despite the posts above about negative football, we are the 9th highest goal scoring team. Would you really prefer us to be like Burnley? The defenders have been playing badly, but they have been unsettled by injuries (we had to revert to Johnson, Indi, and Pieters at the back against Chelsea) and now Butland is out. We are also a lot more solid when Cameron plays in midfield. We gave it a go against ManC and paid for it. But defending can be fixed as can set piece play. We were lousy and corners and are now the highest scorer in the Prem from corners. If you want to see goals, go to Stoke matches, the fourth highest number of goals so far in the Prem. Top scoring team against the top two clubs. The goals conceded can be fixed. After last season's disappointment, Hughes is rebuilding the squad, give him time. It can't be done in one summer. Most of the clubs in the Prem are trying to find a 15+ goals a season striker, and WBs are as rare as hen's teeth. There is no supermarket you can pop down to for quality Premier League players. You have to try what you can get to come to Stoke. Foreign players particularly take time to adjust. We are playing Liverpool tonight, a club that has spent c£400m (four hundred million pounds!!!!) on players since Hughes came to Stoke. So I don't expect we will win! I do expect we will finish in the top half of the table. I believe, and I think Coates does, that Hughes is the best manager we are going to get, certainly this season. The players are behind him, all the fans should be too. Its been mentioned already about the fact that we are scoring a decent number of goals yet do not appear to be a decent coherent attacking side. Putting the stats to one side we seem from watching all our games to be even more clueless offensively than we are defensively I hate stats like % possession, miles run, number of passes, etc. but goals scored is not a stat. you can put to one side. It's what the game is about. You may think we may be clueless offensively, but personally I was thrilled to see Choupo's and Shaq's latest goals. Maybe I am easily satisfied?

The problem as far as i'm concerned is who replaces him if he goes? The managerial merry-go-round offers no one who would be a distinct improvement on Hughes.
However, as much as a section on here like to refer to Pulis as clueless, at least he had a plan. You may not have enjoyed the football but there was a game plan. There appears to be less and less of a plan to hughes' tactics.

There’s no mess to turn around. We play at the highest level in the strongest league in the world. The club is financially solvent. We attract top National level players. Our managers have some of the highest longevity in the game. You are aware of the concept of relegation aren’t you?

He would struggle to do that effectively, what a pile of steaming horse shit he has made of our club, still he has a nice watch and shiny shoes and costs very little so Coates will be happy the mad old duffer.

He can fuck off right now for all I care but who do we bring in? There's no way someone like Koeman or Benetiz is going to come to Stoke. Koeman turned down West Ham, a London club, for much bigger wages. He obviously isn't looking for a step down from Everton.

I can’t see how anyone can defend him after another turgid display mate. Not one single shot on goal!! This against a team who were supposedly as bad as us in defence. I also watched him look totally blank of ideas, he looked at his bench what he assembled and didn’t have a clue what do as crouch was on the pitch so his plan B was fucked

The sound of yet another penny hitting the floor, a cardboard cut out would surely be no worse than the dead head we have currently at least we would not have to listen to the boring insipid shit that Hughes comes our with.

Do you really trust the nuggets that run this club below boardroom level to find a replacement during the season? I don’t, especially when they have continually made a mess of transfer windows. These fuckers are getting off the hook while Hughes takes the flak but they are guilty as charged. The footballing side of this club really is a shambles.

I don't think that was in any doubt even before you laid it out so plainly. Another toothless display last night as usual we didn't even try to take the game to them until we were behind. Tried the only tactic he seems to know so never really tried to change it up. Anyway looking forward to Saturday because he's now realised we need to play more on the front foot and need energy. Think he'd better drop Fletcher for that my Nan's got more energy. Or maybe he'll trot the same old shit out despite what he's said I mean he said he was going to involve the youngsters this season they are very seldom even on the bench and when they are he'd sonner see a senior as a fish out of water than give them a chance. Truly spineless football manager I blame Welsh water.

Last nights "football" was as direct and long ball as it ever was under TP. Hughes has come full circle and has somehow ended up back to where we were when he walked through the door.
