What Peter Coates should do is to threaten to bring back Pulis, then some clever dick can create a poll on here and Twitter and lets see if 72% want Hughes gone then. The only Stoke fans I have heard who don't want TP back post on here. Every single fan I speak to wants him back and wants him back quickly. Never change march, but from a personal, mental health perspective you really should try to get out and meet people.

"Would have liked to have kept Wollscheid to cover Ryan's absences and liked Imbula to have fulfilled his early promise. And even Saido to score. Or better replacements in all areas. Oviously" I think this displays the current ineptitude managing the squad. He's dismantled it and has no spare parts Although he did well initially u just think he's gone stale and needs replacing pronto Nah mate I'm not buying into the gloom, and wouldn't support a pronto sacking. Hughes has been tasked with trimming the squad to allow for promotion of some youth, all within that 'self sufficiency model', risky business at the very top level. Don't agree with ineptitude at all. I fear as much as owt that a change will be towards the more attritional/conservative football. Xmas at the earliest for me. If Hughes goes then I suspect the whole back room and Hodges {?} will go too. No obvious caretaker, huge clearout, it'd cast us into chaos doing it mid season, though it might be a laugh! I'm still a sticker, not enjoying the mood on here. I admire your faith and you do speak a lot of sense! 👍 I just wish I had faith in him. I hope he turns it around and at the very least survive and the summer would be then appropriate to makes changes KTF dude 😀👍👏

Can people please stop suggesting Tony Fucking Pulis as a viable option. I would rather slowly lower my genitals into a bowl of highly corrosive acid than have him back. Or, spend my Saturdays shopping with the wife. Both equally unpleasant experiences yet preferable.

As things stand right now I would welcome TP back with open arms rather than see our continued decline. However, there are other options that I hope Mr Coates et al. Would explore first. However, straight pick between the two and right now I would pick TP.
There are a few categories that a manager should be judged against. There aren’t many in which Hughes is excelling in at the moment.
I reckon the areas for judgement of a manager are:
Results/Form Piss poor. Relegation like in all areas.
Transfers Terrible apart from Mame, Arnie and Maxim with honourable mention to Bojan, Indi and Affelay. Far too many incomings and none sensical outgoings to list.
Game Plan/Identity We have none of either.
Media and Interviews I remember being happy with Hughes and he won a lot around in his early days with his interviews and great comments when he somehow always said the right thing. When was the last time you listened to him and thought... “well said Les!”
Subs and Game Day Management Hopeless. His subs have generally negative impact on games. He either can’t see it or does not want to see it due to stubbornness. Both are bad traits for a manager.
Excitement Arse and The Shit aside this season has been dire.
Hope This I feel is incredibly important for us fans. That feeling or deluded stance of fancying Stoke against ANY opposition. Knowing “we can beat these today” the “I fancy us to do these today”. Personally I have always felt this way until generally these last two seasons when in all honesty I dunner know what to expect! Sadly though I find myself taking solace in “there being three worse teams than us”. That isn’t enjoying football, that isn’t what I want from my Saturdays that I want love again like I used to! I find myself going to the match now because that’s what I do, I support Stoke.
Hughesy you have taken my matchday hope from me and whilst beer sometimes reinstalls my deludedness I would much rather you weren’t Stoke’s manager anymore. I could then look forward to watching my team whilst they try and reestablish an identity that you have dismantled!

I think most people know that a new manager either soon or in the summer is inevitable, but even now under Hughes, at his worst point, it is far more exciting than it was under Pulis. You will find yourself in a tiny minority if you want pulis to replace Hughes. That is never going to happen anyway

I'd genuinely rather be relegated than be stuck with TP for any serious length of time.

Bring his bk We did 'kick on with Hughesy' - with the whole 'finishing higher consistently in the league business'. Pulis played 4-4-1-1 with one of his 'strikers' in a different postcode to the other. Pulis was one of the highest net spenders in the Premier League when he was here and is as popular with WBA fans as Hughes currently is on here.

We need to shake this bottom-feeding mentality thinking only the likes of Pulis, Allardyce or assortment of other domestic cloggers and/or has-been will do.......now is the time for the club to make that next brave step to becoming a respected fixture in the Prem, capable of winning cups and slipping into Europe now & again - it IS possible.....BUT we have to grasp the nettle and Coates et al need to shake of the irrational (or Xenephobic) fear of Johhny Foreigner. And DO IT NOW!!!!
Hopefully they are already "on it" - we shall see......

The reason why older guys like Allardyce are being touted is that there are virtually no young British managers coming through, you only have to look at the appointment Southgate for England to see how desperate things have become.
