Sadly at 18 million he is 18 million over priced either that or Hughes in a sadistic sick perverse sort if way is hanging him out to dry. Utter garbage at the moment time will Tell, lets all cross fingers and hope it's imbula reversed

Looking back though since Shawcross and Cameron got injured we have a back three who have had to play with very little experience of playing together. Not making excuses for them and we know how good Bruno and Zouma are. Prepared to cut Wimmer some slack for now.

Too early to judge a player yet. I'm more concerned up the other end

As a back three they were all over the shop tonight which was disappointing given their reputations. Really fundamental positioning mistakes going on. Wimmer stood out as he seemed totally physically dominated by their number nine and I don't think he won a header all night and ended up dropping off the whole time.

I was shocked when I heard how much was paid for Wimmer. He's always been unimpressive. Bruno was £8 million and Wimmer was £18 million? Daniel Levy is laughing all the way to the bank.

The guy needs time.
We have again indulged in signing a player who has spent little time actually playing. None of us would expect any player to suddenly return to his best form if he had a long lay off due to injury. Why should it be so different for players like van Ginkel, Wollshied, Given, Bony, Berahino, and now Wimmer, who played very little top level competitive football the season before they joined us. They may be fit, but "match-fit" is a different level entirely.
We would not expect a cricketer, golfer, tennis player, who had a long period out of top competition to return and immediately perform at the top level. In fact I would say many sportsmen lose "it" if they drop out of top level competition for any length of time and never get back to their best.
I don't know whether he is going to get to the level required, but I'm sure it is going to take months and many matches to get to his best level. Hounding him will not help his cause.

Has he ever had an £18m level though? Spurs signed him for £4m in the same month we signed Wooly for £2.8m. They let him rot for 2 years then sold him to us for £18m in the same month we let Wooly, who played a lot more than Wimmer, go on a free transfer. None of it adds up... Don't get me wrong I'm not advocating Wooly, I think he is rubbish, but at least he was only £2.8m of rubbish.

He best start stepping up I'd say.

Won't start a new thread but Bruno was shocking too ,didn't look bothered lost so many heading duels for ball ,time and time again he played sloppy balls to tymon in first half and in second half what the fuck was that effort he had when he was in box ...poor showing all round from defence I just hope it was down to the fact they couldn't be arsed because if they were bothered about tonight's game we have problems after that performance

Bullied into submission by their big centre forward. Lost his man for their 1st goal. Also wasteful when looking to bring the ball out from the back. Lightweight, unsavvy and spineless.

Yes he's not been awesome but let's not allow Imbula and Berahino to cloud our judgements...Wimmer hasn't been here long enough. We can't start expecting immediate impacts from new players, that's not how it works, especially when the team he's come into has had considerable changes and wasn't exactly performing well to begin with.
I still think Berahino will improve, though increasingly this is more in hope than expectation.

I thought we were onto a winner with Wimmer, but he's looking like a dogs dinner, who runs with a zimmer. Simmer down, don't be a sinner. It's early days - he's a beginner. Soon he'll make you into a grinner. But he hasn't shown a glimmer, you rimmer!

I've seen the second goal now.
It's a right balls up between Wimmer and Zouma.
Wimmer is closer to the header and Zouma is closer to the man that scores.
Why swap?

I'm more for giving players more than a couple of games to get up to the pace and settle in and strike up an understanding with his defensive collegues, especially after having about 2 years off!
