The answer to this question is yes....of course it is. He has a difficult job to do, and a chequered history. Many of his managerial appointments have ended in failure and, if he were to sack Hughes, it would be very doubtful whether he would appoint the right man. This might explain his reluctance to take any action. He is once again at odds with the supporters and it could all go pear-shaped next season. The jury is out on Peter Coates. Horse shit of the highest otder.

Many of his managerial appointments!? here is (I think) the full list (not including 'care-takers') Ball: disaster Macari: roaring success Jordan: failure Macari: success Bates: disaster to be fair I think Kamara was appointed by Humphries Little: disaster Megson: success but short reign to hard to judge Pulis (second spell,Icelanders appointed him first time): success Hughes: success overall but failed last year/18 months other key decisions: gave Mills £1m bounty & 4 year deal in 1989 oops appointed Moxey: disaster

Saying all that this is a ridiculous thread as we would be no where near the Prem without him.

Especially giving Mills a new four year deal & a big pot of money in 1989 when it was long clear his time was up.

If I remember right we were on of the favourites to get promotion and Mills signed Ian Cranson for a record fee (£480,000) who was a absolute steal but unfortunately did his knee and was clearly a massive miss.

Only attracting a bunch of moronic supporters We had our fair share before take a look in the mirror and all will be revealed. Said the moronic moaning bleeder of the highest order, Peter Coates came back to do what he called unfinished business which in his words was to make us a premier league club, which he as delivered and as made no other promises, so by that he as nothing to prove to you Johnny come lately fans who think they no more than anyone else.

Peter Coates took over as chairman in 1989 and the following year the Club was relegated to the old 3rd Division, only achieving promotion under Lou Macari in 1993. A further spell in the third tier followed in 1998 which lasted until 2002 when promotion was again won under Gudyon Thordarson and the Icelandic consortium. So Peter Coates was rescued by a foreign consortium and in total spent 7 years in the third tier of English football as a Board member. Prior to Peter Coates arrival on the scene in the eighties, Stoke City had only occupied Division 3 for one season in 1926-27. Of course the success of Bet365 has been a huge help to Peter Coates and to the Club, but I hate to think what would have happened without this type of financial backing. Management includes more than just Mark Hughes and his predecessors, and the record of the team trying to bring in new players (Cartwright, Scholes etc) does not look good to me. Scholes was a Coates' appointment, and I would question whether he is the best man available for his enormous salary. Moxey was certainly a diabolical appointment.

So what do want, I would love to see the reaction you would get if you had the bottle to get a petition of Coates out at the 1st game of the season, take a look at Villa, Wolves & Bham with their foreign owners that's clubs with bigger fan base than us and their fans are envious of where Stoke are now

The day is fast approaching when our football as we know is being taken away from us, Peter Coates is not only local but British owner of a English club fast becoming a rare commodity in the English game, when that ends so does football in this country as we know it.games will be played all over the world and fans finally being pushed completely off the scene.

You know where I am I'm not a thug or a football hooligan. You want to cause me a problem I'll have to deal with you. A few digs before they throw your arse out and ban you. Which is the main bonus a moronic thug who has no respect for most of his fellow supporters the sort of dickhead who belongs in a museum.

Well tell me how someone from block 16 would be allowed into another part of the stadium, and as you are so quick at labelling people and think I am a thug when coming up to my 63rd year is totally insane, and you come out with utter crap that you can give people a few digs and you would not be the one banned shows your idiotic thinking.

I was pointing out when Coates had not got the money it did not go well, but remember him giving Mills a million pound to spend pre season ( a lot of money back then for a 2nd tier club) a massive gamble which did not pay off and he had nothing in reserve funds to get out of the situation. Now with mega money he is being frugal but the club are in a catch 22 position where it is near on impossible to break in to the top 6 place which is our only goal from the position w have been for the last 4 seasons.

Oh I forgot you never attend matches you listen to Radio Stoke or watch on a dodgy stream. Al is a negative, dog walking, cunt, but he does attend home games. I have lived outside the area for 53 years living amongst the West Mid teams, it as been hellish sometimes especially walking back in the pub after getting dicked 7-0 by Blues and having 2 of them as passengers in my car on the way back, also for a quarter of a century meeting up with my fellow Stokies in the local pub before going to the game having smart arse Villa fans asking who we are playing and replying something like Plymouth or Bradford and they retort with laughter Oh is it a cup game, well now as Kevin Keegan would say I am loving it absolutely loving it on asking them the same questions they asked and giving them back their responses. So that's why I hate all this negativity as I honestly started believing in the late 90s I would never ever see Stoke back in the big time.
