Don't normally post on rumours but I'm putting one up from the weekend.. cos it's a good one.. so put your spud guns down..!
Was with a long time Geordie mate of mine who is very matey with a notorious ex Chairman of the Toon..
Reckons that Benitez is still disillusioned with the current owner despite a successful season and Is looking to work back in the NW.. I had heard his name whispered around the Britannia a few times this season but never took it seriously..
Might be complete bollox but he was Adam Ant regarding Sir Peter's interest.. is that a dong thud I hear?

Question I'd ask here. Do the owners have the money and ambition to bring and keep a manager like Benitez?

Would love Rafa. Would say there's no chance he'd come here but if he was willing to slum it in the Championship with (albeit a big club) Newcastle then why not? I just don't see why he'd jump ship when he's got a solid project going up there?

Would be a real coup for Stoke. If we want next level...Rafa is exactly that.

I doubt if this rumour has much basis in fact but I'd be happy if it was true. Not just because he is a decent manager and lives near enough to make it a good move on geographic grounds - but also because I despise Mike Ashley and he deserves every bit of bad luck he gets.

Seriously? If Hughes was to leave he would be a fantastic coup and appointment Since Liverpool, he's failed in every single job that he's had. The exception to that is Chelsea, but he was only there for ten minutes. Even Liverpool never really recovered from the mess he made in his last season there.

If I recall correctly, he was a regular visitor here a few years ago when he was between jobs.

Let's hope we can tempt Sir Alex Ferguson out of retirement, assuming he's good enough for you?

He took over when they were already pretty well doomed and has got them promoted at the first attempt. Surprisingly, most relegated teams don't get back to the Prem at the first attempt - so I'd say he's been a success.

Seriously? If Hughes was to leave he would be a fantastic coup and appointment Don't want him either, never been keen on his football. Along the lines of Pulis he's far too happy to suck all the enjoyment out of games to get a result. Not for me.

Right now our stock is falling rapidly and the only way to start heading back in the right direction is to get a new big name manager. Benitez would be a major coup. I'm in.

It was Mike Ashley that finally killed off Bourne Sports - Stoke's only pro sports shop with knowledgable staff. He bought Bournes and binned it, destroying 50 years of history, memories and jobs. I totally agree with Lakeland, Ashley is a rotter.

Question I'd ask here. Do the owners have the money and ambition to bring and keep a manager like Benitez? Does the well known billionaire have the money? If we appointed Benitez, we'd have to spend a lot of money on his salary, far more than we do now on Hughes. We'd have to back him with serious money, again far more than we do now with Hughes. Given the club have preached self sufficiency for a long time, how do those two go together?

He would carry some clout in attracting big names to the club as well.
