I personally would like to see
Grant
Bardsley (if back because Johnson looks gash at the moment) Shawcross Indi Muniesa
Cameron Whelan Imbula
Arnoutivic Shaqiri
Berahino
We could possibly go Sobhi on the wing and Shaq central but I think Imbula has a ability to take the ball forward that none of our other players have. This three at the back is garbage. Wouldn't mind Affelay for either of Imbula or Whelan either.

You have more chance of starting for Stoke right now than Imbula!!

Affelay then, although since he signed a new contract he seems to have been shunned!

Grant Bardsley Shawcross Martins Indi Pieters Cameron Afellay Arnautovic Shaqiri Sobhi Berahino Subs: Given, Muniesa, Adam, Diouf, Imbula, Walters, Crouch This. Ramadan shouldn't have been dropped for the last two games and I'd like to see Shaqiri play as the number 10 and hopefully create some good chances for Berahino. Based on Whelan and Charlie's recent performances I think Afellay deserves a go and should have been the one to replace Allen against Liverpool.

Got a feeling we'll shift back to a standard 4-3-3 for this and the side I think will be something like:
Grant
Johnson Shawcross Indi Pieters
Whelan Cameron Afellay
Shaqiri Berahino Arnautovic
I think Hughes will look at us without Allen and look at our options and will go for the extra body to try and circumvent the lack of legs we have in midfield without him.
We may even see a return of the 3-4-3 with Arnie and Shaq as No 10's.

Still think Imbula would be best over Afellay, we need someone to drive through their midfield rather than just booting it to the wing every time we get it. Possibly Adam over Whelan too. But a return to 3 in midfield is definitely needed.

My biggest worry is that MH will pick a team to avoid defeat or scrape a win. We should really go for the jugular and go 4231 with a front 4 of Shaq, Sobhi, Arni and Bera with Geoff and Afelay sitting deep. You just know MH will bottle it and select At least 2 of WALTERS, Crouch, Adam and Whelan. We need to Give them something to worry About.

If he doesn't start Afellay with Cameron and then bring on Adam late for a sub the man is asking for the sack.

I would be surprised if Charlie starts after the strange double sub on Saturday, but we should have too much for even a rejuvenated Hull City, pretty much whoever he starts.
I am confident Stoke will beat Hull and Swansea will lose away at Watford. We have an OK run of games in the next 4 matches and a win on Saturday will set us up for a decent run into the Arsenal game. I think we might just finish top half again.
I suspect the current bottom 3 Sunderland, Boro and Swansea will be relegated.

Suprises me that some seem to think that Berahino would be viable playing down the middle on his tod. Nothing I've seen suggests to me he is suited to carrying that load. Walters was one of the most effective aspects of Saturday's performance and yet as normal people are falling over themselves to drop him. It's a strange old season.

Thankfully the team news comes out before I set off to the ground. If Whelan, Walters and Adam feature I won't be bothering leaving home.
They are as culpable as any player for the shite served up this season.

Might be ok linking up with a No.10? Shaq hopefully... If not then Hughes has committed to a 4-4-2? If he has he's lost the plot

While you might say that Adam and Whelan have fallen away a bit there is absolutely no grounds to say Walters hasn't done his share and been a good squad member. Out of 30 odd players I reckon there's only half a dozen who can claim to have contributed more to what little success we have had.

I don't think any of us will predict the starting line up for the next game. That's how random Hughes can go.
In fact if anyone does I'll give them a pound.

As you all probably know, Jon has never been one of my favourites, but he never, never gives anything but his best. The fall guys for me are the two mentioned previously. They are not quick enough, and do not do enough on a regular basis to warrant selection. They are definitely in the has beens section. I've been banging on for ages about the need for younger, quicker players. I won't stop until we get them!

He seems strong to me, his hold up play has looked decent (it's pretty much all he's had to do so far besides about 3 chances). If we play through the midfield, as we should be doing, rather than over it, he'll be fine I reckon.

Arnie and Shaq, the wings (fbs etc) are far more the focus and outlet. Broke down with Arnie a lot saturday. Your forward has to continually check back and readjust under those circumstances. Just got to hope it starts to click two or three times a game. And regularly.
