Thought this was a joke post. He is actually the fourth best keeper in the PL this season. Quite frankly, had any other keeper had the variable four in front of him, as at the start of the season, he would have been praying for a minor injury, just bad enough to let someone else carry the can, for a while. If he got sacked for the odd mistake or even a dozen clangers, Hughes would have had to also release the forwards for missing so many goals, the defensive midfield ( though often MH's mistaken choice) indeed about eight in all. Butland is, or at least was, the better of the two, which is to be expected but there needs a very big thank you to Derby County for their short sightedness, in our interest. I dread to think where we would be now, without Lee. It's not short sightedness from them is it? He was pretty average to poor for them. It was a great deal for them as I'd imagine they were expecting him to leave on a free. They'll be over the moon.

Grant has been a revalation to me and as far as I am concerned I'll give him the odd clanger because he has gone a long way to saving our season (see what I did there?). When he came on loan I thought it was a joke because he was derided around the East Midlands as a flapping, bollock dropper (and we already had 2 of those) and was genuinely Derby's third choice. For whatever reasons he has massively upped his game. That's neither foresightedness on our part or shortsightedness on Derbys part because I don't think anyone could have predicted the improvement in his general technique that we have profitted from these last 6 months which has to a large degree masked his shortcomings.

Some credit should go to our goalkeeping coach Andy Quy as well as the hard work from Lee

Grant shocking for both goals. No point making good saves if you can't do the basics. Absolute bollocks...no chance with either of em. Made a few top drawer saves. You ever kicked a ball lad??

So no Butland should not come back quickly enough

Has he had a behind closed doors game yet? wouldn't want to chuck him back in cold, especially with Hull being a massive game now.

Thought Grant should have done better with the second, then again so should have our back 4 - to let someone run in behind off such a simple ball is asking for trouble. As for the first goal, it was an unbelievable fuck up between Whelan and Indi.

Sadly for Lee Grant (who has been brilliant for us), it doesn't matter how well he plays we must put Butland back in as soon as he is fit. Butland is too good not to play.
In no other position would you leave a star player out, even if his cover had been playing really well.

Lee Grant has always been a technically sound goalkeeper and brilliant shotstopper. He's been renowned for his fantastic reflexes and has multiple player of the season awards under his belt. He was never the calamity that some said he was and that you allude to here. He was always going to be a reliable presence in the team that we very much needed. The fact that he's been better even than that is credit to all concerned.

That's ridiculously uncharitable, there wasn't much stopping it no matter how well you're set in my view It's not gone in the corner or that close to the bar. It looks like it's gone through him a bit too. It looked poor at the time, replays don't help him.

No need rush butland back. Grant is the least of our problems. Yet again Saturday making a couple of vital stops. 3 keepers wouldn't have saved that firminho strike. It was a simply fantastic hit

It looks like it's gone through him a bit too. It looked poor at the time, replays don't help him. It dips devilishly. And yes it "looks like" it's gone through him - that's why I knew as soon as I saw it people would blame him - but Firmino hit it so hard there wasn't time to react. Replays probably don't help because they're mostly in slow motion...
