He's an excellent shot stopper I agree but there's a reason he hadn't played in the itemiser league before with that talent and it's around commane and control of his area and a propensity to drop real clangers What real clangers? As stated above yesterday was about as close to a "clanger" as he's made all season. Did you see the seasoned campaigner Valdes earlier now that was a real clanger.... Yesterday was his first clanger, command and control at play v wba and Leicester.

It really is that simple. So you know Grant didn't give Erik a shout, or you've just already made your mind up about our best player of the season? I've no idea, but if he did it makes it worse. Shows they have no confidence in him. Next.

Yesterday was his first clanger, command and control at play v wba and Leicester. He made a misjudgement against Leicester, however the guy would have had a free header irrespective. He clearly shouts to Martins Indi against WBA who for whatever reason still puts the ball out for a corner. If that's a real clanger fuck me you're clutching at straws.....

Pickford and Valdes clearly aren't going to come to Stoke to sit on the bench. Gunn may as well stay at Man City and be farmed out on loan for regular game time than come here and get splinters on his arse. That's how I'd see it if I were him and his agent.... I think if you could sell it to Pickford as a job share/competition and learning from the best I think he'd be tempted. Valdes won't get many better offers. Re Gunn possibly. I have a feeling he might be in with a chance of being their #2 anyway next season. Absolute rubbish the lad's already being linked with Chelsea for £30 million got no chance of asking him to be a no.2 keeper.

I don't actually think Pieters was wrong to intervene watching it back, but instead of clearing it into the Family Stand he shinned it straight to Franz Beckenbeur.... He wasn't wrong because Grant hasn't a clue when the ball comes across his area. He's akin to Carl 'Dracula' Muggleton. Just my opinion like. that is BEYOND harsh

Pieters stuck his foot out in what look like an instinctive reaction - not a thing that Grant could have done about it.

Whilst Pugs is being harsh Grant isn't the demi-god a lot are making him out to be. When he came on loan all the Derby fans I know, to a man, laughed their cocks off at me, saying that whilst he was a good shot stopper he was a ditherer and his positioning was suspect and he was always on the verge of a clanger. Now whilst he's been nowhere near as bad as I expected, in my opinion those faults have been evident throughout, none more so than on Saturday. I think Granty has done an OK job for us and will be a great number 2 but he's looked better than he was because of the low point we were at before he came, what with Given and Haugaard in such dire form. If Jack comes back in soon in anything like the form he was in before his injury I think you'll see what I mean.
That's not to say I'm not glad he did come in when he did, I just wish he hadn't had to.
PS any of the Twitterati heard anything of Jack's progress?

At the moment, he begins each training session with the physios and then works individually with Andy Quy once he's worked with the other keepers. Hughes said he's going to do that for the next week or so and then join the rest of the group if all goes to plan.

You'd think fans would be thankful for any sort of decent goalkeeper after the goalkeeping nightmares of Shay Given earlier this season.
Not our bunch of morons. They'd rather jump all over him after one of his first mistakes. Good lads, cracking stuff.

His injury may just mean he stays with us for the time being- although we have lost 12 months of his service Do we know if he has a buy out clause?

We should do a Southampton and put a 30/40m valuation on him and stick to it.

Stoke need to be strong and tell him he's staying. We've stood by him through his injury and paid him for not playing - you can't just go.
Unless we're offered bonkers money i.e. excess of 20 million.

Grant is a good second choice. He isn't perfect and he makes mistakes. His communication isn't fantastic and he doesn't cover his near post, and both of these weaknesses were exposed on Saturday.
In the current market, I wouldn't listen to any offers that didn't start at £30,000,000 and a 50% sell-on fee. If they don't want to pay that, we don't want to sell.

He's not going anywhere yet. For one thing, we need another full season out of him and any interested team would need to be reassured he's fully recovered. It's a stupid piece of journalism.
