Lee Grant has been much better than any of us could have dared to hope, however Jack Butland is our best player. The quicker we can get him into the team the better.

Lee grant has been excellent this season. Only world class keepers never make mistakes. Butland is possibly going to be world class and I wouldn't sell for less than 25 million

If we sold him for 8m with the length of contract, age and ability that he has the whole management team would need sacking. Starting bids of 25m for me though Id 100 percent prefer him to stay.

I`ve heard he`s joined up with the England squad , anyone else heard about it? He (and some of the other injured players) were invited to visit the squad at st. George's on monday. He was apparently the only one invited that turned up though. May be that?

I`ve heard he`s joined up with the England squad , anyone else heard about it? Southgate invited injured players like Shrek and Jack to join up with them and hear his plans and vision for the future (yes, a vision, don't laugh). Anyway out of about 10 only Jack turned up apparently!

going back to the op, i have to aggree. grant has done very well for us and stopped the rot in defense which could have seen us dragged into a relegation battle. however for all his good saves he still lets a soft one go in. i recall the spurs game i would have marked him 1 out of ten first half and 9/10 for the second unfortunatly it was too late by then.for the chelsea game he was at fault for BOTH goals the first at the near post and the second he should be shouting to eric to leave it. nobody is perfect and we have a lot to thank grant for but if jack is fit then he goes back into my team.

Its not like footballers have a lot of business to attend to on a Monday when theres no training usually It also makes Southgate look rather weak so early in his tenure. Good on Jack for bothering to go but the other 9 should be made to sit on the naughty step. Bloody primadonnas

Plus why are you (3putts) hanging Grant out to dry based on two games. 1 against an in-form team who are steamrollering everyone out of the way to the title and the other who are a team that seem to be turning into a bogey side for us at the moment.... but we'll just ignore the rest of the season where his reliability and excellent shot stopping has saved us on numerous occasions

Would be interesting to see. I know it was only a chat, but the message that gives your boss speaks volumes. For example, Wayne wouldn't be THAT far away.

Harry Kane turned up as he was shown on SKY watching training from the sidelines and talking to the other players so it definitely wasn't only Jack that turned up. Media also reported that Rooney reported with the rest of the squad when they joined up so that he could indeed, hear Southgate's vision for the future.

Butland is obviously the better keeper and will probably be our No 1 again next season.
Having said that, there's no need to rush Jack back as Grant's had a good season.
He's made a few errors - every keeper does - but Lee generally has been a surprisingly safe pair of hands.

Thought this was a joke post. He is actually the fourth best keeper in the PL this season. Quite frankly, had any other keeper had the variable four in front of him, as at the start of the season, he would have been praying for a minor injury, just bad enough to let someone else carry the can, for a while.
If he got sacked for the odd mistake or even a dozen clangers, Hughes would have had to also release the forwards for missing so many goals, the defensive midfield ( though often MH's mistaken choice) indeed about eight in all.
Butland is, or at least was, the better of the two, which is to be expected but there needs a very big thank you to Derby County for their short sightedness, in our interest. I dread to think where we would be now, without Lee.
