If it's him it's him
As somebody who has followed England abroad over the years he's not my choice but I'll get behind him ....wonder if he will change the selection process and not go for a big club love in
Stones etc don't fit his ideals

I'd rather give Mike Bassett another go.

Good. Despite being a bit of a football purist he deserves it. International football is about winning at any cost and style should go out the window. For once it could be a good FA appointment and not a yes man.

The only real credible candidate, maybe Pardew as well.
Has to be English.

Given the budget's resource, league structure, history etc..we (the FA) is in a fu**ing mess.
Sam would sort it out on the pitch, (even if it weren't pretty for a while) can the suits upstairs do the same?
Also it'd be interesting to see squads picked on merit (which I think Sam would do) and whether he plays more expansively given a better talent pool (usually mid table) he'd now be able to select?

A good choice for me , he would build a strong team that could get the best out of our talented players, lads like Ryan would get a fair chance if he was playing well enough .
I also think he would pick strong minded players who could handle pressure ,

Sky now claiming he's back in England for transfer business and not for talks over the England job. In other news sky fail to identify arse from elbow.... That's the Sunderland statement as he returned from Austria to work on transfers which is a load of bollocks as he could to that in Austria with the chief exec back in Sunderland

Is he deffo in talks? Or is it media speculation? Doesn't look like it. The famed Sky sources just seem to be catching up on the press reports of the last 48 hours with talks with Sam and Jurgen expected this week. Looks to be Sam's to lose though

Good coach. But would've preferred Klinsmann so much more. If this happens I'll feel slightly worried for the future of the England football team.

Excellent at keeping teams up but he's never won anything. Is this the sort of Manager we now need ? I think it probably is, starting from the bottom and working upwards instead of going into tournaments thinking we can win them when we are obviously just not good enough.

Big Sam is absolutely the right man for the job.
If anybody can sort out the egos, the prima donnas and those that think they're better than they actually are - it's him.

Sacked by West Ham, Blackburn and Newcastle for playing a shite brand of football. Marginally kept Sunderland up due to there being 3 worse teams in the league. What a bloody pedigree he has, bet Carroll and Nolan are rubbing their hands together.
Absolutely appalling appointment if it happens, no better a manager than Pulis. The fact that he's even in the picture shows what a terrible pool of English managers there is about
